I’ve been going to Peter’s for about three years. I love that outside, it looks like a funky, «Old Berkeley» shop that hasn’t changed since the 70s. But V’s equipment and service is totally up-​to-​date. He’s excellent at trouble-​shooting, and I trust him to not sell me services I don’t need. I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment within a couple days of my call. (That he stays busy is a good sign.)

Awesome shop. V really knows his stuff and helpful and informative about repairs and how to keep my car in great condition. I’m someone who likes to know what is wrong and preventative maintenance and he definitely takes the time to take care of his customers. If I ever have to take my car in a shop this is it!

After years of feeling taken advantage of by mechanics, I finally found a totally honest, reliable, and reasonably-​priced one. Vee is THE BEST, hands down. Of all the repairs he’s done on my car, none of the problems has ever returned – he fixes it reliably the first time. His prices are far more reasonable than any other mechanic I’ve visited, and when I can do something easily myself, or the repair isn’t worth making, he’ll tell me. I have saved so much time, money, and stress by going to Vee at Peter’s Automotive. Even when I was living in Davis, I would take my car to him on my trips to the Bay Area – he’s that good! He’s also very nice and helpful.

V has been working on my family’s cars for years, and I know why. He is super fast, honest, and he loves what he does. I am so grateful that I found such a wonderful mechanic so quickly.

I was EXTREMELY dissatisfied from my experience here. All I needed was to replace my driver side mirror on my car. I was told there was not an opening for my repair until the next week (I was fine with that since the reviews seemed like this place did great business and figured it was due to lots customers.) I show up on my appointment on Wednesday and I’m told that the part will not come in until Friday. I’m not sure why I had to show up to be told that they cannot repair my car that day, but that was still fine. When I show up on Friday, I’m now told that his vendor cannot bring him the part by the end of the day and I will have to come in on Monday. At this point I’m pissed and looking for anyone else to help me, but no one in the area offered to do the job for as low as he did so I gave him one more chance. When I show up on Monday, not only does he tell me he has the passenger side mirror, it’s for the wrong model all together. At that point I decided I was done being jerked around and I would get the work done somewhere else.

I had a mysterious grinding noise emanating from my car that my old mechanic couldn’t diagnose before I moved out of the area. I ignored it for awhile out of fear it was going to be some sort of huge and costly mechanical procedure. But finally out of fear for my life I decided I had to deal with it. I looked on Unilocal and based on the good reviews decided to make an appointment to bring my 2001 Toyota Camry in.
Vee was my mechanic and not only figured out it was a tire issue and not a mechanical one but fixed the problem that same day. He didn’t charge me a cent! Can you believe it?!?
Now my car runs as smooth as the day it was made and I have already referred everybody I know!
Added bonus– he had treats for my dog!

Peter’s Mechanic «V» is an honest mechanic who takes the mystery and fear out of the car repair business. I highly recommend this auto repair shop — Peter Mitchell Auto Repair. I had brought my car to two other shops in the area with a mysterious issue that they could not figure out and «V» at Peter Mitchell Auto Repair figured out what the problem was in about 1 minute. They took care of all the various problems with my car — they have reasonable rates and are honest, explain everything well and don’t do anything that doesn’t need to be done.
