Just saw them erecting a Confederate Flag in the frat. «The South Will Rise Again.» Racists in Berkeley. Who would of known? Stay classy Sigma Nu.

I will be the first to admit I was anti-fraternity when I got to Berkeley. To this day most people don’t know I was in a fraternity. Looking back on my experience 10 years later Sigma Nu was a great place to forge friendships, learn brotherhood and foster a sense of school pride. I was a Sigma Nu of the Beta Psi chapter from 1999 – 2003. At the time I thought Sigma Nu would be a good place to socialize and live close to campus. The house, as you can tell from the pictures, is both beautiful and situated perfectly across the street from campus with a great view of the campanile. While I rushed as a dry pledge and did not drink this didn’t stop me from partaking in the social experience that was Sigma Nu. I thought it was total bullshit when older alums came in to talk during rush week to talk about networking and lifetime friendships but as I look back on my years post-graduation I can see that my closest friends are not those from my classes but those I made at Sigma Nu. I had great times as a pledge running around doing stupid things. Some people look down on all these things but while I’m only 29 and 6 years out of Sigma Nu I look back at those days fondly and we always sit back and talk about our days at the house when I meet up with my fraternity brothers. I enjoyed the formal dances, parties, rush weeks, initiations, LEAD sessions, chapter meetings and countless silly things that happened over the years. I have been asked if I would do it again and I definitely would and put even more effort into my years at the house than I did in my time at Cal. Thanks in great part to Sigma Nu I will forever look at my 4 years at Cal as some of the best years of my life. With all that said — Go Bears! I love the boys here. Even married one of them. Thanks for being the coolest crowd to hang out with. Even after all these years, you boys are my favorite. You know who you are — do teach me that handshake so I can be special too. ;-)
