The Lightroom

Just made a run out to Lightroom to have a couple of my daughter’s images printed for a project. In the past, we’ve done it at Wolf and more recently, Mike’s in Pleasant Hill. Mike’s is a sit-​at-​the-​kiosk-​and-​hope-​for-​the-​best kind of place. «You want that gloss, or matte?».
Anyway, emailed Rob ahead of time and made sure he could accommodate my small job while I waited and he responded very quickly that he could. Made the trip from the valley to Berkeley and I’ll tell you: it was well worth it. Rob’s place is beautiful, clean, and inspires confidence from the moment you walk in. He’s a photographer himself, and was able to help a clueless guy like me select the best paper for the project. The prints look gorgeous, and while they cost four times what I’d pay at Mike’s, they were a hundred times better quality. I’ll be a customer for life.

I have just moved from the Bay Area to Colorado Springs. I talked to Rob and made several test prints before leaving. I am glad I did. I went into several printers in the Bay Area before I left and many of them were great. The difference in my opinion was that Rob loves paper, and is a great printer. Rob is able to articulate what to expect of a final print. If you want the best I suggest you go by and talk to Rob, then run some tests of your own, I will bet you will be thrilled.

And then see what Rob did with those same images as giclées. That is, he photographed them in very high definition and then reproduced them as limited edition prints (giclées) in two sizes. He managed somehow to, if anything, increase the «light» in Rosie’s already considerably beautiful paintings. I plan on purchasing a limited edition giclée of Rosie’s artwork. Now the hard part … decisions, decisions. I get to have a beautiful print of Rosie’s art for an affordable, even moderate, price.

Rob does a great job at what he does. I just tried to place the lightroom as «Photographic Supplies and Services” – but what he really does is digital printing (and scanning). He knows what he is doing, his prices are excellent, and the quality is top-​notch. He also has a nice gallery.
Upload some files to his server, call him up, and you’ll get some great images (whether drawings or photos). Up to at least 40“x60».
