THISPLACEISCLOSED. When I was a student in Berkeley, from 99 – 03, I ate here a lot. Too bad it shut down a few years ago.

This is a great, affordable, Chinese restaurant. I used to go here a lot when I was in college, and unlike«dollar chinese», my chinese friends would actually consent to eat here w/me. It’s pretty spacious, so you can have a pretty decent-sized group eat here. My favorites are their mongolian beef and hot and sour soup. Whenever I had finals or was feeling cold/blue, nothing like some takeout hot and sour soup fixed me right up and made me feel warm and fuzzy. I haven’t been here in a while but I will always have fond memories… :)

As a student, I still had too discriminating of a palate to eat here more than a handful of times, usually when Café Durant(right above it) was too crowded. It’s not disgusting, but with a panoply of Chinese places to eat in the area, it is definitely not my first choice. The one good thing they have is plenty of seating for large groups.

It’s hard to find cheaper Chinese food in Berkeley. Think $ 4.25 for dinner. Thankfully, it’s pretty good, too. It’s a winner for those time you have to bring dinner for everyone, since they’ll never find out what you paid…
