i have been to tuyen once for a manicure and pedicure and i have to say that she is one of the best nail techs i have ever met. i’ve gone to a few places in the bay area and only a few were good. most were terrible.
tuyen takes appointments via text! awesome. you’ll be the only one in her section of the salon so there aren’t any other distractions. she is inside a hair salon that isn’t too spa-​y. tuyen is meticulous and takes her time, she actually gives you a massage unlike a lot of places that give you a partial massage or no massage at all.
her prices are reasonable for the area. small but good selection of opi colors. i like kind of weird nail polish colors like pale blue and she had it! sweet. go to tuyen and you won’t regret it.

Tuyen has been doing my nails for 6 years. I have followed her from shop to shop as she ‘s moved to find the most compatible place to attend to her customers. As others have written, she is lovely, sweet, and attentive to each person who comes through her door. I highly recommend her services,
And with the cheese board and its pizza shop on either side, you can treat yourself to breads, cheeses, and delicious thin-​crust pizza and jazz while you’re in the neighborhood!

Tuyen is THE BEST manicurist in the Gourmet Ghetto. Also the sweetest, most personable, and kind. Her prices work for the average working woman, and you get a way better quality experience than the pricier salons in the nabe. SHE’S MOVED to 1506 Shattuck, between the two Cheeseboards. And her new place seems a lot friendlier and warmer than the place by the Local Butcher.

Heaven has moved down the street to 1506 Shattuck. Tuyen is between the two cheeseboards. The shop is great. As you would expect, it is meticulously clean and it gets more sunlight than the previous location. After the cheeseboard opens up about 11, there is always a line of people in front of the business. It’s good karma, though. People on their way to get really good pizza are happy, and that carries into the shop. There are also two beautician stations and I suspect they are good, too, but I haven’t tried that yet. Tuyen’s number is the same: 510−374−0343.

Tuyen gives the best foot massages along with her incredible pedicure. She is gentle, thorough and spends 45 minutes on pedicures alone, all for a very reasonable price. Tuyen rencently moved from 1600 Shattuck to a small hair salon next to Cheeseboard’s bread and cheese shop. She is very personable and friendly. I can’t rave enough about her.

Tuyen Pham is the best! She is professional, caring, clean and her work is impeccable ! I’m so happy to have found her, I searched for years for someone I could trust to do a great job. Let’s just say you gotta kiss a lot of frogs before you find a good nail technician. She does waxing as well:)

Tuyen has a cozy nook around the corner from the salon where she previously worked; she’s now on Cedar St. She is the same lovely, modest person, and her pedicure is, as the others here have said, 5 Star! Also as noted, the pedicure lasts and lasts … not that good for business I guess, but great for her busy customers. Her warm company complements her fine work, but oh, the very best is her wonderful foot and leg massage! Truly relaxing — what a treat. I’ve known her for a number of years, and what others have noted when first meeting her remains true — she will go out of her way for you. Her price is more than reasonable and the experience more than worth it. Give her a try!

Tuyen is The sweetest woman on the planet! I always go there for my nails. They are perfectly shaped, beautifully polished and lasts at least one week for the hands. Toes last a lot longer. On top of that you get a little arm/​leg massage.
She does great waxing and facials too!
For people who know her from being next to guerrilla; she moved around the corner (next to barney’s) to a MUCH nicer space.

I found Tuyen when I had some spare time on my hands in the East Bay, and figured I might as well get a manicure. She was 5-​STARS ALL THE WAY on Chic Salon’s reviews, so I figured, I couldn’t go wrong.
I was right.
Tuyen runs a simple operation– no hefty, massagey thrones and jet-​stream foot-​spas here. But she’s a total pro– and a total sweetheart. First of all, when I called, she took me as her last appointment for the evening, though it meant she’d have to stay past closing hours. When I got there, I realized I didn’t have enough cash (no credit cards here), but– in spite of me keeping her at work– she offered to wait if I wanted to hit up the ATM down the street. On top of that, everything was super-​clean (impressive, because she has to take care of all her own equipment– Chic Salon didn’t do anything to help her out… then proclaimed it was going to take 40% commission– which is why she’s moving down the street– she didn’t want to pass the costs along to her clients); her hand/​arm/​foot/​calf massages were DIVINE (I just stopped talking after that started; I felt so relaxed, I didn’t want the noise of my own voice ruining the peace she induced), she gave me a mani/​pedi ($ 35) that still looks fresh out of the nail salon a week later (and I’ve put my hands through the ringer, cooking/​cleaning/​digging around my crazy purses), AND since I had spontaneously decided to get the nails did, and had only closed-​toe shoes, and had to walk down the street to meet a friend for dinner… she found some (REAL! Not the disposable kind) flip-​flops to give me, so I wouldn’t ruin my feet.
Tuyen is meticulous, caring, and gives one of the best mani/​pedis I’ve gotten in the Bay Area. She should be at some high-​end hotel spa; but, I sense that her loyalty to her clients keeps her in Berkeley. If she was in the city, I would have already booked her for the rest of the year.
