Stylish man clothes are available in abundance at Welcome Stranger! Patagonia, Wings and Horns, Rag & Bone, Carhartt, Norse Projects and Gant are all stocked here. On my last visit I bought my fiancé a sweatshirt and a Barbour vest that was in heavy rotation soon after the purchase. If you are a man, or just shopping for one, this Elmwood outpost of Welcome Stranger is definitely worth a look. The dudes who work here are both stylish and helpful and the space has a nice vibe with good music to match.

The space has a perfect vibe and the staff is super knowledgable. It’s a great showcase for not only menswear but the best place in the area to go gift shopping for candles, books, etc… especially etc.

I’m always a fan of boutique shops for men, so I definitely fell in love with Welcome Stranger when I first visited their store in SF. When I heard they were opening up a second shop in Berkeley I was definitely excited though it took me a while to find the time to actually go. This store is way bigger than the one in SF… I’d say at least twice as big. Likewise they have a great selection of clothes and accessories from Life After Denim, Reigning Champ, A.P.C., Tanner Goods, etc. However, their denim selection is definitely lacking compared to Azalea(their sister store) and possibly the SF location as well. Anyway, having been open for two months, I’d say they should be in the swing of things by now, but some of the staff… is either inexperienced or just not knowledgeable about men’s clothing. While I was there a man was trying out nudies and he obviously had no experience with raw denim. Unfortunately, the employee helping him also seemed to have no experience with raw denim, failing to mention basics like the fact that most of the denim comes in the same inseam and that they will stretch up to an inch in the waist. These were both things that came up while the customer was conversing with his friend and being helped by the employee. I almost had the urge to jump in and help but didn’t want to be out of line so I just shopped quietly. Hopefully the staff as a whole will be more knowledgeable about the brands that they carry in the future. But otherwise, I’ll still be back to just check out the selection. P. S. its 20% off all sweaters and outerwear right now!
