Youth Engagement, Advocacy and Housing

These guys and gals provide an invaluable service to youth who are trying to get their feet on the ground and gain traction.

The YEAH program was founded on good principle but has turned to complete and utter shit after a major re staffing. The staff are money-​hungry and don’t care about the youth they supposedly want to help, all they care about is their job security and whether they end up in the same shitty situation we all are. Furthermore, the church has become a major health hazard, as youth are using church bathrooms to smoke methamphetamines, smear shit and jizz all over bathroom walls, and smoke cigarettes in areas not lawful under California state law, including inside the bathrooms. Disabilities and allergies are not well accommodated, staff are careless, youth are disrespectful and bully, they come in drunk and high and never let anyone sleep. Not a good place to go, you’re honestly better off on the streets.

Because this program is operated under the Lutheran Church, it’s repeated again under their review.
The Church’s pastor (Reverend Isakson) runs this program for homeless youth. It’s a temporary shelter that provides support and food for the kids that need to recuperate.
My friends and I came by to distribute V-​day cards and various goodies. We didn’t actually meet any of the kids but were happy that program was under the leadership of such a genuine and caring pastor.
And then???
My friends and I support YEAH’s! leadership in alleviating homeless youth in the area. Their volunteers are passionate and altruistic (without the proselytlzing nonsense) making it easy to join their cause. We’re going on Sundays for soup kitchen work but according to Reverend Isakson, one can volunteer on any day of the week. Count your blessings and share some love!
