Wonderful little art fair on 12 Mile in Berkley. It seems to get a little bit bigger and better every year. Organized by the owners of Catching Fireflies & Yellow Door — you will see many artists that are familiar to you if you are familiar with these shops. One of my favorite Berkley events every June! This year’s event promises 100+ artists, live music, kids activities & food trucks — yay! Can’t wait!

This year, at the 9th annual festival, they had 12 Mile closed off between Tyler and Kipling. It’s a lively art fair in a fun downtown, and parking is much easier than the only other art fair I’ve been to– the gigantic one in Ann Arbor. It’s probably one of the smaller art fairs, but it still took a friend and I more than 3 hours to make it to all the booths. There was a good variety, from paintings to fine art photography to jewelry to custom children’s clothing. One booth used recycled albums to create various items, from custom-cover notebooks made with album covers to snack dishes made from shaped vinyl records. I scored a super cool Ratt-themed notebook for a heavy-metal lover friend. If you don’t want to eat street vendor food, there are several nice places to eat along the route, including Amici’s Living Room. This stretch of downtown Berkley also includes some antique stores to explore.
