Counting Sheep Antiques

Counting Sheep is more than a store, it’s an experience. No matter what season it is this place is decked to the nines. You feel like you’re in a designer catalog. Everything is magical!
I originally came to pick up some Annie Sloan paint but after my first visit there I was hooked! They have great upcycled furniture pieces and some really unique décor items.
Owner Sally is a doll! She makes shopping there so delightful. Very welcoming and interested in her customers and their projects. Always willing to swap ideas or offer some suggestions. In fact, they hold events and open houses throughout the year and all the dealers are very friendly — as if it’s a large family.
This little shop is definitely a spot worth driving to! So many awesome items to check out, and when it comes to prices — not bad at all!

This is such a fun shop to visit. Sarah has several vendors in her main barn, and there are always great furniture pieces. I have been tempted a few times, although I didn’t actually need any pieces. I have just bought one mirror.
What I really love going for is that Sarah is an Annie Sloan stockist. She is sometimes out of stock of certain colors, so of you are going for a specific color, be sure to call ahead to make sure that color is in. That said, once I went in for Abusson Blue, and she was all out, but she sold me a discounted can of her own that she had opened and used, but it still had most of the can. I really appreciated this as I live half an hour away and had gone just to get that color!

This is less of an antique store, and more of a country store that sells overpriced americana looking tchotchkis (sp?) a la The Christmas Tree shop. Sure, there were a few antiques, but not a ton, and much of the antique furniture they carried had been painted. Come to think of it, I don’t recall any pieces of furniture in their original state — all had a coat of Annie Sloan chalk paint (which they carry) slapped on it. Prices were ridiculous.
