I was in town on business with my boss and we were told to check out another restaurant that was in the area. We stopped by and without going in decided it didn’t look appealing. So we found the Range Café. We wanted to sit at the bar, but it was full, so we sat at the Bakery Bar. I am so glad the other bar was full! Heather was working the Bakery Bar and was amazing! Her smile, service, wit, and abilities should be an example to all servers. The food was so good and the desserts were to die for! We are definitely coming back Saturday night! We met great people and some, even Heather, had Iowa connections that made for great conversation! Highly recommend!

I was in town with a coworker for a conference. Unilocal and locals both recommended this place. I now know why. Great food with an unique and colorful environment served by people who enjoy making your experience one to remember. The place was busy, for good reason, when we arrived so we sat at the bakery counter. We enjoyed cold drinks and were amazed at the delicious deserts prepared in front of us. Heather was working the counter tonight. She was a true treat. She was always prompt to attend to our needs while also entertaining us with her dessert prep for other customers, always with a smile on her face. Heather was a super friendly person and a great representative of the community and restaurant. She deserves a raise! ;) If you are in town do yourself a favor and stop. I also hear breakfast is to die for!

Amazing Meals and Desserts — a must do! We first tried the Range Café in Bernalillo, NM a year ago when traveling through the area. We ate lunch and dinner there. This year, while traveling through the area again, I wanted to try their breakfast. I read on other review sites about their Huevos Rancheros. I was all set to order that this morning until I asked the waitress what breakfast was really amazing. She told me their Huevos Rancheros was very popular, though she prefers their Carne Adovada Huevos Rancheros. Great tip! My wife ordered the Huevos Rancheros and I ordered the Carne Adovada Huevos Rancheros. I ordered it with both green and red chile. WOW — what a great meal! Loved it all and preferred the red chile. In fact, I bought 2 jars of it(only $ 5 ea). I did a thorough Dessert Survey and wow, what great looking choices. I spoke to Chef David about the desserts. He’s pretty passionate about them all. Thank you Range Café for another great meal. See you later this week for another one! I recommend: Carne Adovada Huevos Rancheros $ 11.49 Two Fresh Eggs, White Corn Tortillas, White Cheddar, Slow Roasted All Natural Carne Adovada, Range Fries, Pinto Beans, Choice Of Chile

Delicious food and great atmosphere. A great selection on the menu, but not overwhelming. I had the pulled Pork Bennie and it was amazing.

This place is a classic. I love the food, weather it’s their New Mexican dishes of their more American stuff. We’ve eaten here for all meals and loved every bite of every meal. It’s super popular, so don’t expect to drop by on a weekend with out a wait.

It’s wrong to serve pancakes and then charge an additional $ 1 when the person wants syrup.

First time to ever eat here, let me tell you this will Definitely be a must on breakfast. Breakfast burrito was AMAZING, eggs fluffy, sausage was not skimpy, tortilla was fresh with great taste and texture. Green sauce was just right, and fresh. Range fries had crunch but was not overdone, the beans completed the plate. Nice presentation on playe and quick serving time. My waitress Andrea was top notch with manners and service! As i looked around the entire restaurant seemed to be enjoying their meals and service as much as I am.

Located in Bernalillo, less than an hour outside Santa Fe, the Range Café is our regular breakfast stop when heading back home to Tucson. They have great red and green chile sauces, in fact theirs is the recipe I base my own red sauce on. More about that later. This time around, I got the carne adovada huevos rancheros, Christmas. The eggs were cooked perfectly to order and the red and green chile sauce were their usual perfection. The carne was excellent. They use pork shoulder, so the meat just melts in your mouth. One of my favorite spots in Santa Fe has tender and delicious carne adovada, but they use loin, so that texture isn’t there. At The Range, it’s perfect. Regarding the red chile recipe, they have a beautiful cookbook for sale with excellent recipes. I made their red chile recipe just as written the first couple of times, but decided that starting with a blond roux rather than the later addition of buerre manié that the recipe called for was easier and gave a great result since you get the chance to fry off some of the raw flour taste.

I keep coming back when I visit NM. So many choices to chose from. Had the blue corn chili rellenos and was not disappointed. Cleaned the plate. Friendly, quirky, and great food. A great place for both locals and tourists.

Great food and I love the décor. It is awesome how is has a little shop right next door. The price is a bit high but the food portion is big so it evens out. Really recommend bringing the family

We were visiting from Oregon and there were 10 of us eating breakfast. Everyone’s meal looked fantastic and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and the prices were reasonable. I feel pretty safe in saying pick something that you think sounds good and it will be!

Yummy & great service. Love this & the Menual locations. Had the steak and enchilada plate($ 15ish) & a beer after a day of kayaking. The steak was cooked perfectly and the red & green chiles were amazing as usual. Very friendly service. Will be back.

Still a must visit. We were fans before in the 1990s but this place still maintains both food atmosphere and customer friendliness at great levels. An added benefit is Rosie’s pottery room who by the way owns the whole building. The green chile cheese born corn enchiladas were fantastic.

This is a must stop place any time I’m near New Mexico. I was traveling on the I-40 in my moto home and decide to hit the KOA. I make the trip north because the reviews look better than the KOA in Albuquerque. After a long drive, we camp out in the KOA in Bernalillo. The next morning I found this place around the corner from the camp site. We decide to hit the place up. PS they don’t have RV parking, but I found a spot down the street. The place is very nice, but the food is over the top. The breakfast was so good that I can still taste it over here in Southern California. I high recommend this place for some good Mexican breakfast.

There are very few trips we take to ABQ that doesn’t include a trip to the Range Café. One of my personal favorites is Huevos Rancheros. We’ve eaten here for breakfast, lunch and once for dinner. If you are coming on a Sunday for brunch, get here before people get out of church. If you are coming after a mass ascension at the balloon fiesta, expect a 45 minute to one hour wait. These folks know how to put butts in seats. I can only imagine what their top line revenue is. There’s a reason. It’s one of the favorite spots for locals. The food is awesome and majority of what they serve they prepare on premise. We are usually too full to eat dessert, but their key lime pie, death by lemon cake and other pastries are excellent! If you order their biscuits and gravy, they’ll ask you if you want onions on them. They are not talking regular onions, but rather scallions. We have never had bad service. They have a full bar. And while you are spending your time waiting for your name to be called to be seated, check out their little store. They even sell a cookbook of Range Café recipes.

We have been visiting here since the late 90’s on every trip we make to the area. It never dissapoints and we have been for breakfast lunch and dinner. Don’t miss dessert! As strange as it sounds I loved the Green Chili Apple Pie! Kind of a rhubarb pie sort of thing. It’s a full experience don’t miss the adjoining shop and curio.

Honestly this is my favorite place to dine in the Albuquerque metro area, if not the whole state of New Mexico. Everything that the Range cooks up is fresh and delicious. Standouts include the Rio Grande Gorge, a delicious burger smothered with chile and cheese, and the oatmeal. Yes, I said oatmeal — it comes with cinnamon ice cream and fresh fruit. The meatloaf is also tasty — yes I said meatloaf. This is one of the places I always bring out of town guests and they are almost always impressed. Whether it is a special occasion or a late night dinner with my wife, I always feel the warmth and comfort of the Range. My favorite place to sit is by the fireplace near the bar area — especially on a chilly winter or fall day. The Range always has interesting art to talk about and has its own unique gift shop next door with fabulous New Mexican merchandise. Overall, make a point to get to the Range in Bernalillo. Or if you can’t make it here, visit one of the other two locations in Albuquerque!

Dropped in here on the way back from Santa Fe. Wonderful décor inside and out — I loved the mosaic tile fireplace and the attached shop. Little bit of everything. This would be an outstanding stop for travelers passing through who want a good meal but don’t necessarily want to go into the city. The menu is just right, with a good mix of breakfast, mex, burgers, and sandwiches. I didn’t see the dinner menu so can’t comment. I had blue corn enchiladas which were great, my boss had the fork and knife breakfast sandwich(his comment on trying to pick it up was, «Okay, I get the fork and knife part now»), and my colleague had the burger and ate every bite. I also tried the lavender crème brûlée. Yeah. Oh yeah.

We actually stumbled on the range café by accident but what a find! What a fun atmosphere for all ages. The staff is very friendly even helping us with the recipe for the crème brûlée. They had lavender and chocolate pancakes that made our mouths water though we were too full to have dessert. My gf had spinach enchilada and I have the chili relleno. We share the range quesadilla first. Our only disappointment is that we were passing through on our way home to Tucson. But we have a good memory and will go back when we’re back through that way a recipe book and a few other tchotchkes. Just go!

Speed of service was decent but not fast. The servers themselves were just working. Not super friendly but not horrible, either. They were just… there. The atmosphere is artsy fartsy as all hell. I saw a painting with John Lennon next to the devil. The devil himself looks like prince. Marilyn Monroe is there, too, for some reason. Seems it’s trying too hard to be edgy. There’s a large display of collected toy stoves… whatever. If I had to describe it I say it’s obnoxiously colorful. I got the Range Chicken. It wasn’t worth the $ 16 I paid. The chicken breasts were dry. The salsa was too tomato-ey. The rice had a pesto flavor and was green but the flavor iteslf was vague and boring. The black beans were cooked properly and had the right texture but weren’t seasoned. The cheese they used was obviously Kraft Singles and not real cheese. I was not highly impressed. On the way out I got a crème Brule and watched the lady torch it. The dessert itself turned out to be sugary and not as chocolaty rich as it should have been. I also got a chocolate cake cupcake with buttercream frosting. The chocolate cake part was bitter and dry. It crumbled quite a but as I ate it, and not in a good way. The buttercream was almost tasteless. It kind of reminded me of buttercream but it wasn’t as buttery as I hoped. I would not recommend the full-sized cake. Overall I give 2 stars. Minus one for the boring food, minus one for ruining my favorite dessert(crème Brule). And I almost took two for the crappy John Lennon painting.

Really good food, most items on the menu have a New Mexican touch and all are fresh and homemade. Friendly servers and a cool vibe with funky local art all around. Desserts are next level, really amazing. Good place for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Breakfast served until 3 for late risers like me. Only criticism is take out, while it is packed well and stays hot, CHECKYOURORDER! 3or 4 times they have screwed something up or left out part. (Actually, most of these take out errors occurred at the Wyoming location, Bernalillo is pretty solid)

I came here for lunch with a few native New Mexicans. The atmosphere was very fun ranging from a little gift shop to plates with signatures of famous people to a cow in a phone booth. We were seated on a Saturday afternoon within 15 minutes. On the tables are facts about(if I’m remembering correctly) the restaurant/New Mexico which are fun to read. The drinks and food were all delicious and very filling. However, it did take our table asking three separate times for water. In addition, my friend had a burger that was missing that wonderful jam they put on top! However, they soon brought him a nice helping of the jam for his meal. The restrooms were clean.

While it doesn’t open as early as you’d expect for a place that serves an awesome breakfast, it’s worth the wait. When in New Mexico it’s tough to find a better, home cooked breakfast. If you’re a Waffle House, IHOP, Village Inn or Denny’s fan, this place might be too good for you. It’s almost two notches better than a Cracker Barrel too. Most items are made in house and taste like it was made just for you. Breakfast is wonderful here. The Range Café succeeds on many levels. They offer a laid back, clean, inviting atmosphere, while delivering great service and excellent food. You’ll be challenged to find a better breakfast in town. Each meal is cooked to perfection, including bread that is homemade(or at least tastes like it), omelettes that are stuffed with fresh meats and veggies and local dishes like carne adovada that hit the spot even for a non-breakfast fan. In you way to the table take a look at the bakery. The items they have behind the glass are tempting even when you’re full. It’s a showcase of how baked items should look. Heck of a job guys.
