This was so much fun. My friends and I drove up in the morning and got to walk around the orchard, pick plenty of apples and walked away with almost 25 lbs of organic apples for $ 20! When we first arrived, we didn’t know what to do or where to go as there was a u-pick sign but no one in the barn so we just parked and started picking. Eventually the owner came by and was really nice. It was rainy in the morning so we were the only ones who were there. This spot is definitely a spot for apple picking, not for hay rides, apple cider donuts, face painting… while all those can be fun, I wanted to pick apples and move on with my day and Earth First Farms let me do just that. Highly recommended for people who just want apples for a great price.

As a midwest girl, I grew up with delicious apple cider. Living in Chicago, you don’t have access to much unless you seek it out at farmers markets, hippie stores, and some fancy restaurants. I had a cocktail at the Handle Bar with cider, and it was so delicious that I asked to see their jug. Turns out it’s from this local grower. Since then I’ve bought a few gallons at Farmers Markets(Logan Square, though they tell me that they sell at others) and it’s always a treat. Definitely recommend!
