I’ve been going to Stovers since I was a kid, and now take my kids there — guaranteed a great time. I was glad to see them at Daley Plaza in Chicago during the summer too! Definitely worth the trip!

This is your average u-pick farm, sweet cherry season was almost gone when my husband and I visited; however, we were lucky enough to pick tart cherries and sweet delicious apricots.

went apple picking for the first time. I never knew apples were so cheap and fun to pick! they have a nice selection of apples(gala, delicious, muji?, crisps) and a big red barn full of jams, caramel apples, and home décor. it’s 2 – 3 hrs from Chicago; have some tunes ready for the trip.

I called to see what kind of apples they are currently picking I live a hour away. The guy that answered the phone was rude to put it bluntly he was a jerk. When I asked what Apples they are currently picking he said we have no honeycrisp I never asked about honeycrisp and he goes on say I could stand here for 5 minutes telling you what kind we are picking. I went else were to pick this place lost my business I went to tree mendus fruit farm were they were helpful didn’t have a problem telling me what they were currently picking unlike this rude dump.

Like the remark below about rude service, boy, is that an understatement. My wife was verbally threatened by one of the workers, probably an owner? As she referenced how her husband would have shot my wife or strangled her, but knowing her husband she(my wife) should hope for being shot. This lady was serious, kept going on and on and was highly degrading to my wife. Verbally a using her right there non stop til we finally just left and said screw them. This was all over the fact that my wife picked 2 peaches that looked and smelled perfect! But the lady insisted weren’t ready. OK, sorry, we will be happy to buy the not ready peaches, but NO!!! Instead we were verbally threatened and told we would be shot or strangled. I mean WTF!!! I am a small business owner and I would never ever consider speaking to anyone in that manner. I would fire anyone representing me that spoke to a client or anyone for that matter under the umbrella of my name and reputation. She even started going into how no wonder we stopped farming and should just all be left to starve to death if not for them. I am sorry but never again!!! Stovers has been a staple of this area for a long time. I’ve driven past it thousands of times. Shopped there a few times but never ever have I heard someone treat a totally honest and innocent person like this. It is completely unacceptable. Unprofessional and I’m pissed off. I wish I could give negative stars. To the other people working there, this lady and apparently her husband are screwed up in the head and I feel bad for you being around them. I will be sure to pass along my displeasure to say the least to as many people as I can find.

I’ve been coming to Stover’s for 30+ years and it hasn’t changed a bit. If they had an organic option they’d get 5 stars. Otherwise, great staff, great produce and always reliable.

I recently visited the Stover Farm this week while on vacation in New Buffalo. The U-Pic that I originally chose was closed because of rough season. My boyfriend and I started at the Farm that offered many selections from salad dressings, jarred fruit & veggies, salsas, etc. They also had local grown fruits & veggies in the barn for purchase. I bought two bottles of salad dressing, a pint of cherries, and two pints of blueberries. The cherries are amazing, I will say that. However, the prices did not amaze me. The salad dressings were about $ 6.50 each, the blueberries were 2 for $ 7, and the cherries were $ 3. There are other local farms that carry homemade dressings at a cheaper price. However, I did sample one of them and it is delicious. After making our purchases, we headed down the road to their U-Pic area. We went there to pick peaches. The peaches were just at the end of the season, so they were a bit soft. However, this has nothing to do with this business. My boyfriend and I each had a large bucket that we filled all the way. This came to about 10 lbs each. We paid $ 11.50 for $ 0.59/lb. The selection was wonderful and it was a great experience. The only negative thing that I would say is that they should have given us wicker bushels instead of plastic bags. Upon getting back to the hotel, the peaches rubbed against one another and some bruised and skinned each other. My only suggestion would be– bring your own wicker bushel basket if you come here! I would highly recommend the U-Pic area based on the price and quality.

i have been coming here for years to pick cherries! their bing cherries(the dark sweet ones) have always been fresh and delicious and i am not gonna lie not all of them make it into my bucket but that’s why it’s 2.49 a lb. the staff has always been friendly to me and answers my ridiculous questions about cherry tart making etc and will show you where to go. you can also pick raspberries and peaches(when in season). come here! you will not regret it! it’s so close to warren dunes i don’t see how people miss this place. there’s also some wineries i’d like to check out next time i actually go with friends instead of family.
