I live outside of Berthoud, and I never plan ahead with my hair appointments. So, I have had many different stylists there. I have had the best experiences at Brookside Gardens. The staff is friendly, efficient, caring and fun. I’ve had a few stylists who don’t «scrub» my scalp as much as I’d like, but I always enjoy the end results. Another reviewer panned Erin, but I loved her! She gave a wonderful scalp massage, really scrubbed my scalp during the shampoo and gave me a fantastic cut and style. Also, I have never been pressed into buying products. This is a wonderful venue with a fantastic staff.

This review focuses on the salon area of the spa. I have had my hair highlighted, colored and cut on various occasions from various stylists from their most experienced to their newer stylists. Overall, my experiences have been positive and I have almost always loved my hair after each experience. There have been a couple girls in the last that I just didn’t match with on a personal level but that is to be expected. I thoroughly enjoy going to this Aveda salon and enjoy the extra perks such as the scalp massage and hand massages that they do while your hair is being done. Very pleased and will be back!

This review is for Brookside as an event venue, moreso than a spa(though I’ll touch on that in a bit). When The Dude and I were seeking a venue for our wedding, we imagined an outdoor ceremony with indoor space for the reception; we also wanted a place where we could bring in our own booze(I mean c’mon). Since this is Colorado, the outdoor/indoor thing wasn’t a super narrow list. Since this is the wedding industry, and the overhead charge on alcohol can be through the roof, that checkbox did narrow down our list. We toured Brookside Gardens and knew it was the place as soon as we saw the outdoor ceremony site; this was even before they had built and completed the round awning-type structure all the way around the circular site. With the backdrop of the mountains, the colorful, well-attended gardens all around, and the re-done farm house space inside, we couldn’t go wrong. Grant, it was a drive from Denver proper, but less so than Estes or a mountain wedding location, so we were willing to compromise on that aspect. We had some blips in communication throughout the 11 or so months from signing the contract with them, but in the end it wasn’t a big deal. And when it was go time, their staff and on-site coordinator had it on lock. They work with several nearby vendors, which helped give us a starting point when we were looking for other services(e.g. catering, cake, etc.), and many of those we either met with and/or worked with offer a discount or hold the delivery fee when working with Brookside(and when it comes to a wedding, every little bit helps). Some of our best vendors we found through the list and working relationships with Brookside. The only one they require you to work is one of their approved caterers(because of the liquor and whatnot), but again, our caterer was fabulous and does many, many events at Brookside, so it all ran so smoothly. Brookside Gardens is definitely not the cheapest venue out there, but for what you get(dinnerware, linens, outdoor/indoor space, sound equipment, wedding party suites, etc.), the price is justified by the lessening of stress and worry from the day. Also, I only partook of the make-up services through the on-site Aveda salon/spa, but was so happy with my results. They offer a discount on services if you are having an event there, and the convenience of on-site hair and make-up is also very helpful. On the day-of, I was served sparking wine while having my make-up done. The day-of coordinator helped with so many little things, and the staff were very nice. People say that no wedding day goes perfectly, and while we had a few hiccups throughout ours, none were a result of a shoddy venue or poor staff. Brookside Gardens and its vendor partners will make your wedding day a little easier to plan, and little more magical to experience.

Husband bought me a gift certificate, this was my first time at Brookside. Aveda salons always stand out with their identifiable culture. Brookside is no exception. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly, efficient staff, and no detail of the space is overlooked. Lockers for your items, so as you go from service to service, you don’t have to worry about your things. Stress less. The stylist had a difficult time with the color service I was getting, but was patient and attentive til she got it to work. I don’t feel this was a deficiency on her part, but rather just a difficult aspect of my hair composition. She worked on me for, literally, hours, and didn’t charge me the full price. Bless her heart. I will definitely go back. The service menu looked reasonably priced, and there was a nice variety of spa services offered, including couples services.

This is a gorgeous spa that pays top notch attention to the guests. I had a body wrap and a facial. Both treatments were extremely professional and relaxing. Both of my rooms had a private steam shower. My body wrap was by Shannon, one of the massage therapists, and if I went back for a massage, I’d definitely request her.

Love this salon for relaxation. Got a lash and brow tint… What a disaster. I can’t believe the aesthetician actually let me leave looking as bad as I did… She asked a hairdresser too come in and take a look for suggestions on what to do. She wanted to put hair lighter on my brows. Think not…

I attended a wedding here, and I was so impressed! The staff was very courteous, the place was super clean, the flowers were well-tended. I only wish I knew about this place when I was getting married!

I came back here this weekend to get a massage and pedicure with my mom and some girlfriends. The massage was wonderful, and the house that the spa is in is just beautiful.

Had a wonderful Mother’s Day spa trip to Brookside Gardens Aveda Spa with my mother-in-law this past weekend. The venue is very pretty, though not set up as a traditional spa like Burke Williams or such. They had a shared sauna, but the steam rooms were basically private showers(albeit very cool showers, with the torso-height bidirectional shower heads in addition to the one up top). There are a few sitting areas both on the first floor and the upper floor, where one can relax and drink fruit– or vegetable-flavored water(the one this past weekend was strawberry — yum!). My mother-in-law and I both had the 90 minute hot stone massage. My massage therapist, Shannon, was amazing — she gave just the right pressure and hit all the places I asked her to hit. My mother-in-law also had a wonderful experience, and I believe the therapist’s name was Stephanie, but I can’t speak to any particulars there. With such a great experience, I’d also have to say that the price was GREAT — $ 110 for a 90 minute massage. They also run quite a few specials — including a couple mother’s day specials that one can purchase through the end of May and can be redeemed for up to a few months after. This spa is a great little secret parked away in an out of the way town. It’s in a great location if you’re in Berthoud, Johnstown, Loveland or Longmont. I will definitely be back!

Brookside Gardens Event Center is located just outside of Berthoud, Colorado. A quick one hour drive from Elevate Photography’s studio. The event center was built in 2009 and was custom designed to accomodate weddings and large events. Couples will enjoy the many unique spaces within the gardens to decorate and make their own. There is ample space for even the largest of wedding parties to get ready in. The bridal suite is private and offers plenty of mirrors and facilites. There is enough available light in the rooms to make for dramatic portraits with the bride. Brookside also has a day spa and salon that makes for a great start to the big day! Outdoor ceremonies are held on a large patio with mountain views surrounded by lush landscaping and bubbling water features. The bride makes her grand entrance into the ceremony through a great arbor lush with hanging flower pots. The grounds around Brookside Gardens offer endless opportunites for unique and fun portraits with the wedding party and bride and groom. A large barn, aspen grove, water fall and open field are just a few great locations for photos. The reception hall can be fitted to fit the most intimate of gatherings to the grandest of wedding receptions. The hall has translucent walls that offer beautiful light during daytime receptions. The staff at Brookside Gardens are always very helpful and easy to work with.

An amazing spa in Berthoud? Surprising but true. I had a wonderful and inexpensive spa day here. Though it’s an AVeda spa there was no pressure to buy stuff(which ruins the experience when I am being up-sold during a facial or massage). Clean, beautiful grounds, nice staff, and they bring you a glass of wine when you’re done! Definitely a hidden gem!

I attended a family wedding at Brookside Gardens last weekend — the venue was chosen partially because the bride is from the area… but more importantly, Brookside Gardens was chosen because it offered scenic backdrops, outdoor ceremony area with this amazing water feature, and a comfortable reception space on site so guests don’t have to go too far. So after all the good vibes, why did it only get 3 stars? The location is a little tricky for events with lots of out of town guests(like this one)… there is a B&B in Berthoud but most of us ended up staying in Loveland or Longmont. Regardless, it was a great experience and we really enjoyed visiting this part of the country. We had a 2yo at our table — for some reason, they didn’t give him a chair. So it’s not that we’ll be putting a 2yo on his own chair without a booster, but the reception space didn’t have a high chair or booster available when we asked. The site is shared between a landscaping business and the reception centre/day spa(owned by the same family) — which I think is a great combination. But the signage was not very clear on site and I ended up driving through the landscaping section before hitting the proper reception centre. Overall, pretty good venue. We had a great time!
