I have lived in the area for the past two years and I don’t know what I would do without his place. There are several nearby bakeries that you can buy baked goods, but their products are always consistently delicious. They have a large variety of breads, donuts, and cookies along with some incredible cakes. I use them for all of my special events. But, the thing that really keeps me coming back is the wonderful service. The women who work there are thoughtful, kind and always welcome you with a smile. They are quick on their feet, so service is fast but also accurate. I would highly recommend this bakery for anyone who is looking for a bakery that can produce high quality products with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. My kids talk about the sweet women who work here, and it feels good knowing that we have people like them in our neighborhood.

Back in early February this year, Rosa J. was a professional thrifter, of course on her days off. She made it to the Salvation Army in Oak Park on foot while fighting with that nasty snow, but she noticed«an image of man with a mustache» across the road. At that time she didn’t pay much attention to Turano Bakery because she thought that might just be a distribution center. Can someone tell Rosa J. that she was wrong? I found the Unilocal business page for Turano Bakery. There’s a retail shop open to the public on Roosevelt. I believe the hours on Unilocal are slightly off: they are open from 0700 to 1800(M to F); 0800 to 1700(Sat.); 0800 to 1400(Sun.)! I was worried that hubby and I couldn’t make it since we came all the way from Albany Park, Chicago to Oak Park by the CTA Blue Line. After we got off at Oak Park station, we proceeded to the exit located on East Ave., and we stayed on East Ave and walked north until we hit Roosevelt. The entire retail shop was rather small; there were two(2) high tables with no chairs if you want to consume your treats onsite. I’ve visited many bakeries around town, yet I found items I don’t normally see at Turano: cranberry pistachio biscotti and baffo(a singular form of «mustache» in Italian, with«baffi» being plural). I picked up these two(2) rare finds, a connoli, and a brownie(hubby spotted it). The tastes were really top-notch. My favorite was the cranberry pistachio biscotti. They were the best companion with a cup of red eye, which was made immediately after I got home via my trusty Keurig. Hubby, on the other hand, enjoyed his brownie. The brownie appeared to be much flatter and«tile-like,» instead of being made like a usual«spongy» cubic. Their brownies were«nutty,» with a plenty of peanuts in every bite. However, if you don’t like nuts or are allergic to them, this kind of brownies might not be your cup of tea. I would have rendered five(5) stars with no doubt for the qualities of bakery items, but I wish there was a café dining room so that I could enjoy them while they were fresh. There weren’t many benches along Roosevelt in Oak Park. Otherwise, «having a picnic» on the street would be a fun thing to do during the summer time here.

Whenever I need to bring some treats to the office, I always make sure to stop at the Turano bakery. Probably one of best hidden secrets in the near west ‘burbs when it comes to baked goodies. Everything is fresh and drool-worthy, from their breads, cookies and pastries to their coffee cakes and pizza bread. Even the coffee is good(not sure what brand they use). It’s bit pricier than popping into Jewel, but it’s worth it when it comes to taste and freshness.

Turano bread is the best bread I have ever eaten. So light and so old world Italian… It brings me back to my travels in Italy! Such an authentic stele of Italian bread !! Thank you Turano…

Yeah. The bread they deliver to restaurants is utilized well. The bread they offer in this little bakery is subpar. They don’t have a ton of options, which is surprising, considering the size of the factory that it’s attached to, but the quality was the most disappointing part. We bought a loaf of French bread and it was already starting to get hard when we got home. We live less than a mile away. This place seems like an afterthought. It doesn’t speak to the quality of their product, which is quite good everywhere else. Unfortunate. I won’t be going back.

Not sure what Lisa L is talking about, but she is clearly lost. Turano is THEBEST! Their bread is amazing. I usually have a loaf or 2 of their french bread stocked at my house. Whenever i can i stop into the bakery and scoop up some pastries. My dad used to take me there as a kid and we would get cannoli’s from one of the Turano daughters Gena. Turano is authentic Italian. I wouldn’t expect you to understand if your not.

This place will make you a glutant; I had little self control. We made it a staple for our household. Brings back memories of a different era…

There are two outstanding cookies. The Amaretto(taste like marzipan in a soft cookie) and the Harvest cookies(nuts and oatmeal chewy). We tried many cookies that were so-so here, but will always stop for these two! Taste like what Grandma would make thirty years ago! Service is hit or miss. Remember to ask for your free coffee with a 5 dollar purchase. About $ 11.00 a pound so not cheap-just good.

Love the pretzel rolls by themselves which you can find at their bakery in Berwyn, and their Pane is my favorite bread to make sandwiches with. Plus they’re a local, family owned bakery. Win, win.

Watched a delivery being made to a grocery store and decided to give this so-called «bread» a second chance to be fair. It was 8:30 a.m. by 1:00 p. m, lunch time. this loaf of bread became a loaf of masonry brick. GOODBYE — and back to Caputo’s MANYMANYOTHERNON-PRODUCTION companies they buy from. Thank goodness for having local companies who know how to bake bread and bread products. One smaller store said they got strong-armed into accepting the«other» bread. I don’t know what that was about. Best thing is to buy from small real bread manufacturers, Mazzeo, Valenzano, CasaNostra, there are plenty of other real breadmakers.

I know them only for their rolls that I’ve had with many an Italian beef sandwich. Didn’t realize they had so many dessert baked goods. Since I dont have a supplier in CA, I can only hope to check out the store the next time Im in town. Good good rolls!

Surprisingly quality Italian bakery. The tiramisu had a good taste of rum, the ricotta in the cannoli was fresh and light, the sfogliatelle flaky, and everything else I got(almond cornetto, chocolate éclair, and danishes. hmm, I guess the last two aren’t quite Italian) was equally satisfying. Prices were reasonable — each between $ 1.79−2.99. Free coffee with $ 5 purchase. There were bread & cookies too, but they were on the pricer side. The bakery is small, with one or two highboys to down your goodies fresh. But it’s attached to the larger Turano factory, where you can request a tour. There’s also free parking.

Dear Turano Bakery, I hate to give you the one star, but fear I must. While I love your bread and buy it weekly, I can’t say the same for your bakery store. This past week, I stopped in while in the area. I thought to myself how great it would be to get my favorite bread right where it is baked, silly me! I ordered two breads and a variety of cookies to go. Your server was rude beyond words and totally impatient to owners, teach your staff some manners and your profits should increase). My variety of cookies were all tossed into the same bag(don’t know about you, but I don’t like Lemon Knots mixed with Kolochky, do you?). Does your staff know any other words than«Next, Anything Else»? While I love your bread and will continue to buy it, I will never visit your bakery again. By the way, why is your Pane loaf cheaper at Costco and Aldi’s than at your bakery?

5 stars is not enough! everything is great, and the prices are great. I got the best pretzel dough rolls I have ever had, and the employees are the best, quick, helpful, and nice!!! I could go on but I think you get the point.

Whether it’s seasonal time, party time, or Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Wednesday, Turano’s always comes through with great bread. As fresh as fresh can be and at reasonable prices. My mother has been making the trip there for years, I’m surprised her car doesn’t just drive there on its own. She insists on their sliced white Pane when she makes ‘eggs in purgatory’ but I garlic up their breaksticks when company calls. I also like the fact that they have risen with the times with some nice multigrain options too. And it’s not just worth the ride for their bread: you gotta see Mama Susi. Yep, hit the bakery! It is authentic Italian, make no mistake; their cannoli is awesome. And free coffee is always standing by with a low cost purchase. So, if you are the designated someone responsible for bread and rolls for one of the big Holiday meals, you sure don’t want to drop the ball. Hit Turano’s and your celebration will look more like a Norman Rockwell pic!

While the Turano Co. is mostly known for it’s bread, the bakery here offered much more than just bread. The wife and I came here recently, and the service and quality were excellent. We picked up a beyond delicious cherry and apple coffee cake among the bread and rolls we also purchased. There is only street parking, but that really is the only negative. One cool thing they do is offer free coffee to anyone that makes a purchase of $ 20 or more. I’ll definitely come back.

I got a special hook up for bread for my holiday party from Turano. Awesome is an understatement. The 4 inch french bread was so fresh and good! The mini crossaints were a huge hit! Hope I can use this resource again —

What can I say… this is the BEST bread for Subs!!! theres something in the flavor of thhis bread that makes the cheese and accompanying cold cuts taste soo much better in Subs. Its like Turano bread is the White Sox(world series champs) and consistently good! and Subway bread is like the Cubs who are more popular, BUT always suck. Shake & bake seal of approval.
