Applebee’s

We were in town for a graduation and our hotel was right next to this place. We ordered take out. We got the 4 cheese and chicken pasta and a grilled cheese kids meal. The pasta was super bland and dry compared to how we get it in Vegas where we live. The chicken pieces barely had any sauce on them. And it didn’t come with the bread stick it usually comes with. Big disappointment. The grilled cheese looked slightly burnt and to top things off they didn’t give us eating utensils for our take out order so we had to hunt some down at our hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Wish we would have taken heed to all the other reviews.

Came in sat down at the bar, I ordered the Tia shrimp salad it came quick and it was really good.

So I was here for late night dessert and drinks. When you walk in seems like a pretty busy Applebee’s. I sat at the bar and the bartender asked for our order but didn’t really smile. We ordered a beer which was not cold at all. Since we don’t wast alcohol we asked for ice so that we can pour the beer in the mug. I ordered a margarita, that too was not tasty so I got a shot to add on top of my watered down drink. My desert came that was amazing because I was craving chocolate. As I sit there I notice that the bartender left for a bit, which was fine, but no one cleaned anything. The tables had food on there, looks like used plates were stacked on top of each other on the other end of the bar. I understand that after a certain time people take breaks but it looks gross when your eating and things around you are not clean. We asked for our check and the bartender not once asked how everything was or if we even needed another drink! So long story short we never finished our drinks and the icy beer was a bad idea. And if they don’t clean tables and chairs I was scared to see if they cleaned anything else! Honestly would not come here again. I’m getting pretty disappointed with this city. I have tried to eat at these locations but seems they do not have customer service, maybe just bad management or maybe that’s just the way people are. Good way to represent this town. Sadly there’s a lot of hotels around here with out of towners, people who come to spend money away from home or just visiting but not want to stay in Birmingham. But if this place isn’t fun, friendly service, and clean I would drive the extra miles to go to Birmingham. I hope y’all fix this place because Applebee’s is the only place that serves alcohol late. There should be no reason for people to not want to come back. To be honest I just left Birmingham to have a great meal but since this was close to my hotel I wanted a night cap! I would’ve came back for lunch or dinner but after this no thank you.

Don’t even worry about stopping its not worth it. I ordered curbside and waited 15mins after pickup time the no one ever can out.

I have visited this location off and on for 15+ years. Most of the time, the food is good, service is average, and I am satisfied when I leave. Service and food quality started slipping in early 2013. I stopped going as frequently. I visited in March 2015 and had the worst experience there to date. I reluctantly went back in June to find it had completely rebounded. The service was first rate. The food was cooked properly and served fast. My tea glass was kept filled. Turns out, there was a change in management. I have been back about once a month since then to find it is consistently good. Due to the history of poor experiences, I am not quite ready to give them 5 stars. If they remain consistent for a year, I will bump it up.

Food was great but we waited over 30 for our food. Manager was very nice but that is still slow

My past few experiences here have been really good. We go for lunch and we really enjoy it. Our server was very attentive and friendly. I love their French onion soup. It’s delicious:) They have really good prices for the lunch combos. I will be back:)

I am only giving this restaurant one star because you are forced to give a star with your review. We walked in sat down and waited, and waited. We watched our waitress dance behind the bar with the manager as we sat at our table thirsty. Finally she walked over and already frustrated with her we ordered our drinks. We would’ve left but we were meeting family there.
Finally she gets back with our drinks, takes our order, forgets to put my mother in laws salad order in before her food. I think she forgot the food all together because the people in front of us walked in 20 minutes after us & they got their food 10 minutes before us. I get my steak & it’s over cooked, my potatoes are horrible. The waitress could careless she’s to busy chatting with the manager who should be telling her to do her job… That place does crappy because it’s not managed properly & because of staff like that. I just feel sorry for the good waiter my in laws had the week prior, it’s people like him that suffer.

Where to begin…
If you’re going to memorize my order, fine, but you better get it right. I asked for medium rare and got medium well. I asked for blue cheese dressing and got ranch.
Don’t refill my drink from another cup, even if you just got a clean cup from the bar and filled it just for the express purpose of dumping it into mine. Either use a pitcher or take my cup the 10 feet to the bar and refill it there. When you do it your way, it looks like you’re filling my drink from one you grabbed off another table. Yuck!
If I pay my bill in cash and my change is $ 3.58, then I expect my server to lay $ 3.58 back on the table. Don’t hand me $ 3.00 and just assume that I’m going to leave the change with my tip. It’s incredibly rude.
The second star is because my food came out fast and the hostess was on her game.

Took my staff there for a lunch today. Waitress did not know anything when we asked about the menu, I.e. What ingredients came on a particular sandwich. Waitress was extremely rude and tried to argue with me when my order was delivered wrong. We should have known we were in trouble when as we were seated, 2 separate tables across from us were loudly complaining to servers and manager and getting bills adjusted and desserts comped because of screw ups. Waitress made sure we understood that while one of us ordered a «14 minute lunch» our other meals would NOT arrive until later. We said fine. What we didn’t realize was it would be almost 25 MORE minutes after the «14 minute lunch» arrived until our other 2 meals arrived. I can’t fathom how chicken tenders and a grilled chicken sandwich could be that delayed. Then our check was delivered and had incorrect extra charges on it that I asked be removed before we paid. All I could think is if they struggle this much with a half empty restaurant on a Wednesday afternoon, what would they do with a full one? We will not be returning to this restaurant ever again. There’s a Cracker Barrel next door and that’s where we usually go for our staff lunches so we will go back there next time.

Very chilly inside, bring a sweater! Bad service from Jonathan, he got our order totally wrong, didn’t apologize nor did he make an effort to resolve it in a timely manner. On top of that, the food that we waited 45 minutes for was cold.

Only 1 star. Should be none. Server did her best, not her fault food is terrible. Grilled chicken is like shoe leather. New potatoes, some cooked, some raw, some in between. Steak over cooked and tough. Fries were downright nasty. Only edible item was appetizer of mozzarella sticks. Pretty pitiful. Manager claims food is usually good and she has no idea what happened. Got a feeling this is status quo. Don’t waste your time.
