Autobahn Indoor Speedway

Wow, wow, wow! What an amazing time! 14 of us from work went as a goodbye for a guy transferring to another state. None of us had been here before so we got pretty excited. When we got there they took our individual photos and made our driver profiles. After a nicely done safety briefing with some funny videos we were ready. You get a head scarf to put on before your helmet and it is only used once. Fresh and clean every time. The helmets are very nice. Several sizes that are cleaned after each use. They have 2 types of carts depending on your age and height. They advertise the carts will do 50mph. While they might reach that it can’t be done on the track here. The track is awesome. Switchbacks, long sweeps, and good passing areas. As you get out on the the cars are speed controlled and you do a slow lap. Next lap they kick it up a bit and then you go full blast. I have no idea how fast I was actually going but man it felt fast. These things go fast enough to put just a bit of fear into you. After 14 laps the race is over. Winners are decided by fastest lap time. The team goes over your results and shows you what you can do to improve your time. I saw a banner advertising racing leagues and boy that sounds great. I will go back to this place as often as I can afford.

Lots of fun, friendly and knowledgable staff. I went at open on a Sunday morning with a friend and had no waiting. Registration is done on an iPad and is simple and straight forward. I took advantage of the 3 race option and it was worth it. Both myself and my friend enjoyed ourselves.

The Autobahn is a great idea that is well executed. The karts are modern, electric vehicles that are capable of speeds of up to 50 mph. The facility is a huge warehouse that is heated and air conditioned. The climate controlled environment will really be appreciated during the Alabama summers.
To ride, you are required to agree to a lengthy waiver that made me pause. This could be dangerous… is my insurance current? After some brief instructions, you get a head sock and full racing helmet. I felt like I was Mario Andretti. My heart began to beat faster as I climbed into my racing machine. After a cautious first lap, I remembered to breath. The course is very technical, and the numerous turns require complete focus. The racing is timed so you are staggered at the start. Once the starter waved the green flag, my instincts took over. I raced like my life depended on it. The 14 lap race probably took 7 – 8 minutes, but time flew by. There was a lot of passing, bumping, and jockeying for position. It was exhilarating!
Our group had three races (practice, positioning heat, and final race) as part of a package deal. After all the sliding, bouncing, and being jarred around, we agreed three races was just enough. For each race, you get a printed report that contains detailed statistics. It includes finishing order, fastest lap, average lap, and more. Once you are added to the computer system, they will keep track of your racing history.
Autobahn was a wonderful experience. The facility and karts are first class. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Until next time, it’s back to driving the minivan for me.

I wish I could legally change my last name from unhappy. This was the best experience you can have in Alabama! The karts go at high speeds, and it provides friendly competition. I feel like a real F1 driver when I’m there. The wait and the price are definitely worth it. Quality racing! The people working there were friendly and helpful. It is pretty much impossible to not know what to do. ¹⁰⁄₅.

Checking in was really fast for us. The cars are electric so there are no fumes inside. It was exhilerating and we had a great time as a group.

We’ve been to several racetracks, indoor and out, in several different states since we’ve made over 20 military moves. Autobahn in Bessemer, AL is the best we’ve ever been to! It’s new, so it’s super clean and everything is extremely nice, including the go carts, helmets, and track. The entire staff was so friendly and helpful. Added bonus: Autobahn is military friendly and offers discounts for military service members and their families!

I went for a corporate event and had a blast. The racing was fun and the cars were pretty easy to get the hang of. The staff gave really good briefings on what to do and how to do it.
Best of all, because it’s indoor, you don’t have to worry about the elements.
My one criticism was the slowness of checking in. I understand that they’ve only been open for a month, so they’ll surely work out the kinks.
Lots of fun and something different to do.

First time my wife and I have ever done anything like this and it was fun. If it’s your first time it takes a little while to get registered. It’s reasonably priced. You have to wear a sock and the inside of the helmets are sweaty. If your a bigger person the carts can be kinda of tight and that makes it a little harder to drive. We would go back again.
