If you’re looking for a legitimate barbershop that offers a consistent hair cut at a reasonable price… Look no further. I’ve been going to Carl’s for around 8 years. Tina cut my hair the first time time I went in. Guess what she’s still there and still cuts my hair the same way every single time. When she isn’t there Dana cuts it and does an equally good job. You can’t go wrong with any of the barbers you choose. There are no bad hair cuts here from transient hair stylist that are more concerned with selling you various hair care products or massages with this place. When you walk in you’re greeted by a team of friendly professional barbers that have been with Carl for years. It gets very crowded and busy at times for sure like with any good quality service provider. There are no appointments, try coming in on a week day if being patient and waiting your turn isn’t for you. This is not a boutique salon for men… This is a barbershop with TVs playing old western movies or college football. They use warm shaving cream and a straight razor and shave the back of your neck at the end of your cut. This place is just a fantastic small local business that is based on quality and tradition with good people who treat you like family. My son and I couldn’t image going anywhere else. Cash or check only(yes check Carl Sugg’s the last place on earth that still accepts checks) Closed Sunday and Monday

Been getting my hair cut here for 15 years. I try to time my haircuts so I can get by Carl’s when I’m in Birmingham. This is a real barber shop. Sitting here this morning there are 20 men sitting around arguing about college football and waiting for their turn in one of 8 chairs. Lots of guys have favorites so they’ll wait around for their guy or gal to cut their hair. Some of the barbers have been here the whole time I’ve been coming here. Carl, the owner, is the most popular but they all give a good cut. Haircuts run about $ 16, they have a couple of large TV’s. There are guys waiting for the doors to open on Saturday mornings so get here by 7:30 or wait till a week day.
