A genuine Juke-Joint, a blues shack in a grave diggers back yard. The ULTIMATE blues experience. We drove 6 hours just to be there. We made life long friends in just one evening there and met people from all over the world. A must for any blues enthusiast! Donation on entry. BYOB

I’m not from Alabama but for the first time ever I felt like I was at home. Gip, the owner, surely outdid himself when constructing this amazing venue. The music just resonates through the vibrant atmosphere AND its BYOB. Just $ 10 at the«door» and you’re outfitted with a mardi-gras beaded necklace and free reign to come and go as you please. Are you dancer? Well if not you will be! The music is that good! Many people brought ice chests full of beer, liquor, mixers and snacks but if you’re feeling hungry for something more, his son runs a grill out back. Don’t be deterred from the route you take getting there. Just look for all of the cars and listen for music. You’ll find the place! It’s worth the 30min or so ride from Birmingham. Side note: the address on Unilocal is not the correct one. It opens Apple Maps which takes you to a random place in Bessemer’s downtown area. Google or Waze will get you there fine though when searching for«Gips Place».

Gip’s is not a business. This is Paradise. It’s a shack in a man’s garden where everyone is invited… always. One if tnot the ONLY last blues juke-joint still open in Alabama. People come all over the world to see this(I came from canada_and I would have flew from France when I lived there) to experience this true, genuine, uniquely American experience. Ask around to find the address… everybody knows… Gip’s live on the«other side of the tracks».
