Uncle Sam’s Barbecue

For a BBQ joint to receive a 5-​star for me, it has to meet the following conditions: well prepared, fresh BBQ; an addictive, pleasing sauce that mixes well with BBQ; a generous portion that is worth the value you pay for; tasty sides; and freshly, brewed sweet tea. Mission accomplished for Uncle Sam’s. If you look in my photo, I went with the dark combo that came with 2 ribs, a leg and thigh, beef, and pork, and 3 sides… all for 12.95. I can throw down some food but this was enough for 2 meals. You can see the pit where the BBQ comes from at Uncle Sam’s. The ribs were meaty spare ribs. The beef was tender and had a little burnt ends in it to add some crunch to it. The pork was a little dry so it was a little disappointing. But I thought the chicken was the best out of it all — Fall of the bone, smoky, and had a rotisserie taste to it. The sauce went well with all of the meats. It is a vinegar base sauce with a tangy, sweet, mild, taste to it. The potato salad was the best out of the 3 sides. It was a baked potato salad with sour cream and chives. The beans were homemade and had a sweet, smoky taste to them. The slaw was ok. Not my favorite kind as it seemed to be more vinegar. As I left, I told the lady at the counter that I enjoyed it and I thanked her for not being stingy with their meat like other BBQ places and paid more for less. She agreed and said she made sure that no one left hungry. Uncle Sam’s isn’t the best tasting BBQ I’ve ever had, but with all the tangibles it possesses, I can’t rank it anything else than a 5.

Had jumbo beef sandwich, Fries, slaw and baked beans… Only complaint was I wish they would place BBQ sauce on the table to put extra on meat and for fries…

I tried SAMs a long time ago and wasn’t that impressed. I’m not a big fan of barbecue. But recently I went with some friends and really enjoyed it! I love their chopped chicken barbecue sandwich and their baked beans! They also have a really good slaw that is light and fresh. You should try this place:)

Good old small town bbq; nothing fancy just good. The sides are so so; avoid the riblets (too fatty and tough) but the half chicken white and the chicken wings are exceptionally good; slow cooked on a bbq spit right in front of you. #HitsTheSpot
