Thank the stars something decent opened in Bethany Beach. My son loves our new morning ritual of an early coffee /hot chocolate. Located in a little strip mall in Bethany Beach, this place is a gem — especially if you appreciate a solid espresso-based drink. I plowed through 3 – 4 iced lattes in 3 days. The prices are great, they have decent food options(including gluten free options! Huzzah!), and the furniture is perhaps a bit tired, but comfortable.

It’s nice to have a new coffee shop in Bethany Beach. These people really care about the quality of their coffee and are happy to share their knowledge. We enjoyed a variety of beverages– Mocha, Cold Brew and regular ice coffee, and they were all fresh and fairly priced. They also have a nice selection of locally baked goods like doughnuts and bagels. We’ll definitely be back again!

Although I’m one of those Starbucks followers that has bought into their evil empire, I do love the occasional local coffee spot. And we needed one in Bethany! Yeah you have Starbucks in the Giant nearby(which isn’t as good as a storefront Starbucks), but you can get great coffee and the local feel here. Nice welcoming café style seating with comfy couches and even some puzzles and games to keep you occupied. To be honest, I didn’t expect much when I first came in but left a lifetime fan! Christian is the owner and he is super friendly and willing to talk to you about the art of making coffee. I learned quite a deal about cappuccinos! They have some things on their menu to eat, but I know Christian mentioned that they were experimenting with other food. Their coffee is So fresh and cappuccinos are made so much better than Starbucks. I love it here and always planned to go back whenever we are in town. Please do support our local businesses, especially great ones with owners that care about their craft!

Made me forget about Starbucks. Love it! Tied for my favorite latte ever with Intelligentsia in Los Angeles.

Very unassuming from the outside, but this place makes excellent espresso drinks. Don’t miss the spicy-rosemary-chocolate cookies if they have them on offer – yum.

A good independent year-around coffee shop was so desperately needed in this area and Drifting Grounds really meets the bill. Friendly, family-run atmosphere and good coffee and espresso drinks prepared with care and attention to detail.

An excellent, independent coffee shop that’s easy to miss as you’re driving along Rt 26. But don’t pass it by or you’ll miss a delightful place to have coffee and a pastry or breakfast sandwich(more substantial menu items are on the way). Christian and Erin keep customers in good spirits and are eager to chat if you like. Part of the charm & appeal of a smaller coffee shop. Décor is welcoming and there’s always a jigsaw puzzle waiting to be worked on if that’s your interest. Comfy chairs, games for the kids, and a relaxing atmosphere make this a terrific place to hang. Oh, and the the coffee! Excellent cold brew. Rich espresso drinks. Smooth drip coffee. Very glad to have Drifting Grounds in our hood.

Just the latte I needed for a pick me up on New Year’s Day! A few of us came in to get a large order of coffees to take back to the house we had rented for the weekend. Something like 5 black coffees, two lattes, one espresso, and one chai. The single barrista who was working this morning was understandably overwhelmed by us. But he did a great job getting our orders ready as quickly as he could. My vanilla latte was well done and I didn’t hear complaints from any other recipients. It was odd though that when we asked for five of the medium roasts, the barrista said he would try but didn’t think he had enough coffee for that… What? You’re a coffee shop! We asked that he make as many as he could and then just use another kind after. It seemed like a cozy place to get some work done, had a nice variety of seating, and even a puzzle started on the coffee table.

Love this place! Best little coffee shop in southern Delaware! Only wished I lived closer… Stayed open late just to make my chai latte and make one size bigger! Nice atmosphere for studying or meeting friends.

The coffee is freshly ground and brewed. The owner is humble and friendly. The environment is just enough hipster to be cool, and not too hipster to be a stereotype. The price of the coffee is so low that it’s scary(we don’t even have tax.) I hope to become a regular.

Love coming to Drifting Grounds for my morning coffee… if you’re still in that mess of the WaWa parking lot, come down one block, and get great coffee. You will not regret it!

Easily the best coffee from Rehoboth to Ocean City. Top notch equipment. They make a particularly tasty coffee cake. If they had later afternoon hours we’d have stopped by twice a day during our visit. Great spot.

Service is great. The building is cozy. A few seats outside. Cold brew coffee is on point. On my new wife and I honeymoon our beach house is walking distance. And we have come here every morning to start the day.

There aren’t a lot of places that sell cold brew coffee, so if you’re a coffee drinker, do yourself a favor and check it out. Cold brew tastes a little different than regular joe. To me, it was less bitter and a little tangy. I’d actually say it’s a refreshing start for a hot summer day! Drifting Grounds is new, and the menu isn’t extensive. But, the customer service is top notch and the atmosphere is friendly. They apparently haven’t started any advertising yet, but the place already has some regulars. While we were there, there was a steady stream of customers coming through. Worth a stop during your beach vacation!

We stumbled upon this ‘coffee haven’ early on in our vacation week. We really enjoyed it — and made it a daily stop. The coffee, pastries and espresso drinks were all great… And the comfy, friendly environment made the experience even more enjoyable. A great start to our day!

Cute little place, you can tell it’s still new, still a little bare bones. The coffee was good though! They also have many different milk options which is so much appreciated! Soy, almond, lactaid, hemp… lots of options for someone who avoids dairy. It would be nice if they had special/seasonal flavor options or breakfast sandwiches, and maybe they will, but when I was there the menu was bare bones as well. I’d definitely come back and hope they add more to the menu.

Visiting Bethany Beach for the first time and came across this gem of a coffeehouse. The Café au Lait and Espresso Machiatto were both delicious and so were the pastries. The staff came outside to check on the quality and taste of the drinks. Great job, Drifting Grounds. We’ll see you again tomorrow!

As a transplant from Northern Va, was so happy to hear of a New coffee house. We went this morning and enjoyed Cappuccinos and delicious muffins(tried a blueberry and a peach muffin from a local bakery in Lewes. Owners were enthusiastic-said they love feedback in order to please customers. Cute atmosphere and wish them well. Welcome to Bethany Beach! Support this Local New Coffeehouse… We’ll be back!
