Everything about this place make me so, so happy! We were staying at the Bethel Inn and we were less than thrilled with what was happening over there, so coming to the Mill Hill Inn was such a great experience! Upon entering, it was the common area of the B&B. We were promptly greeted by one of the owners who was so sweet and seemed genuinely happy to have us dining with them. We were escorted to the porch for our table which was so cute. They very thoughtfully had blankets draped over all of the chairs just in case someone was cold — we were okay, but I could see people needing them. We were very well taken care of while we were at this adorable restaurant. We spoke to both owners on multiple occasions, our server was great, and other employers were also so helpful. We looked at the menu and thought we knew what we wanted but per some recommendations we made some changes. We shared a bottle of white wine, it was good, pinot I think. And the food was excellent! My only complaint was I wish the kitchen/waitress would have coursed the food. At one point we had four or five plates in front of us which was a little bit much. Date and Walnut Compote — SUPER tasty, hands down my favorite thing that we ordered here. The compote was perfectly done and paired so well with the cheese. Phyllo Bakes Brie & Wild Maine Blueberries — tasty, exactly what you would expect. Mushroom and Cheese Phyllo — this was a special — it was pretty good. Eggplant Crustinis — A little underwhelming, it was good but wouldn’t order it again. Cod Cake — Tasty, the aioli that came with it was really good. All of the dishes came with side salads that were unique for each dish, I thought that was a really nice touch. They all complimented the dish really well. We sat for some time at the end of our meal and finished our wine and there was no pressure to leave(it was also the end of service, if people were waiting we obviously would have left, lol). But it was nice, serves continually watered our table and they chatted up with us. Once we got up to leave, one of the presidential debates were on and the owners invited us to stay and relax on the couches with other guests. We decided to try one of the famous blueberry margaritas which was very good. Everyone who was in the common area seemed to sweet and everyone knew each other and it was just so sweet! Definitely disappointed we did not stay at the Mill Hill and we plan on it next year!

Please note, this review is for the Mill Hill restaurant only. We did not stay at the Inn. It was such fun to find a restaurant that was a little different. The atmosphere is fun, especially out on the new porch where they provide a blanket to cover your legs if you get a little chill. Instead of one dinner, we choose 6 small plates and shared. We were able to eat only as much food as we wanted, instead of the classic huge portions in restaurants, and we got a wild variety of tastes. Everything was wonderfully prepared, and it was especially fun that each small dish came with a unique salad or rice side. The wine list was good, but the beer list was excellent. One thing to note is that this is a place to take your time. If you are in a hurry to get home from skiing, this might not be your stop.

Low key, homey, family run restaurant with their own take on tapas. Eclectic décor with pool table and acoustic guitar available to play. Only open Thurs thru Sunday. Service was super friendly but not very attentive. The brie could’ve been an appetizer or a dessert. The chorizo pairing was a bit awkward. The prosciutto/asparagus was salty but good. Finally, the cod loin with saffron rice was delicious even if it was a bit incongruous with the menu description. They have a large bottled beer selection. It would be nice if they had a draft so you can taste some of the local beers. Our waitress was not really able to give us an apt description of what they had on offer. Very good selection of after dinner drinks. I enjoyed the Belgian coffee. All in all, we enjoyed our meal and the service and we would definitely come back.

A true gem in Bethel. Superb atmosphere, friendly service and great bar! Cocktails were delicious and by far the most vegetarian options in Bethel. Fresh ingredients and artfully prepared dishes make Mill Hill Inn a perfect dining experience in Bethel. We will be regulars for sure.

Great place! Food, rooms, environment, location, owner. Stayed here as it was an option on Airbnb. What a find! Great recommendations on restaurant, local to town to walk.

What an awesome gem. Found this place while in Bethel. Only 6 rooms in the inn but truly feel like I’m a guest in someone’s lovely home. Woody, the proprietor, goes above and beyond to make sure all guests feel at home. Love this place. Thanks woody!

My friends treated me to a dinner for my b day whilst in town snowboarding at Sunday River. Based on Unilocal reviews, I chose Mill Hill. What a gem! I called ahead to make a res. Lee was most accommodating. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed. Our waitress was fabulous. The menu is fantastic with some small plates and Tapas delights. The wine and beer menu is diverse and varied and quite intriguing. I sampled a few wines that I loved. My boyfriend loved his beer selection. As to the food, it was tasty but not too hot. The flavors, wow, spot on. Our fav was the brie app and the eggplant crostini. Plating was artistic. The pottery dishes are gorgeous and crafted by Woody! The negative was when a table of 15 came in and dominated the tiny dining room. The noise was so loud we were forced to leave and finish our dining in the living room. I simply could not hear my boyfriend and this was before they had a second round. By the time we left it sounded like a block party. Nice folks by the way but it’s too small of a venue for such a group when others seek to dine intimately. The setting is quirky casual and fun. Thanks Lee for the tasty birthday dessert treats!

We had a lovely visit here! The owners, Lee and Woody, are such kind, accommodating people. We stayed here when coming to Ski at Sunday River for a few days. Great proximity to the Mt and to the little town. The room was clean and spacious. There are a lot of common areas, which our kids really enjoyed. Woody’s breakfasts are delicious! We also really enjoyed the dinner. We shared some small plates and entrees. Lots of variety for kids as well. You can eat in the dining room, bar or any of the common sitting areas. We will definitely come back if we return to the area. More of a Bed and Breakfast feel than a typical Inn. Loved it!

My husband and I were looking for a quiet, relaxing summer getaway spot in Maine — we found Mill Hill Inn and couldn’t have been happier. In almost every way, Mill Hill Inn is not your ordinary B&B — I would characterize it as a B&B with a boutique hotel experience. So you get the best of both B&B(wonderful inn keepers, comfortable setting /almost like home, shared sitting areas) and hotel(large, well appointed rooms, separate tables for breakfast). We ended up getting into town a little later than planned — in past visits to B&B/small hotels this is a huge problem — not here. Woody gave us a call, and set us up with everything that we needed, taking the pressure for arriving by a certain time. We arrived to a huge room with a lot of peace and quiet. You can walk to all of the restaurants in Bethel from the Inn. Woody gave us some great recommendations and off we went. Breakfast the next morning was all we needed to make it through an excellent hike(also recommended by Woody, called Old Spec, we highly recommend it). Woody’s popovers were the best that we had during our stay in Maine(and yes, we tried a lot of them). We had the chance to spend a little time with Woody and Lee before we left. They are both wonderful. Their personality and hard work is reflected in every part of the experience of staying at the Mill Hill Inn. We highly recommend staying here and hope to make it back one day soon.

Excellent service, ambiance and food. The satay were exceptional. Extensive beer selection. Service was excellent, very attentive. There was a band playing Dead, Phish, Dylan in the front parlor. Not loud at all but adequate for background music. The old home is beautifully decorated for a very relaxed atmosphere. I would highly recommend.

All I can say is wow! The creations coming out of the Kitchen are spectacular. Plus a great selection of craft beers! Add to that a bar area with a woodstove and live music. And you have a very romantic Valentines weekend!

Small quaint beautiful. I enjoyed the food. It’s a special place. I didn’t stay at the inn and I was with a guy I was skiing with so the couples part of the experience was missing but it’s where you want to take your wife or girlfriend

Our next trip to the mill hill inn will include the hummus, the scallops, and the tuna or the salmon, which we didn’t try on this visit but which the wait staff all rave about. Love the live music.

This review is for the bed and breakfast. My partner and I were going skiing in the early season at Sunday River and picked this B&B the day of, called and spoke with Woody, who quoted us a pre-season rate and we confirmed and showed up a few hours later. The B&B is in an old barn that has been tastefully decorated and was a lovely place to spend time. The downstairs area has a wood fireplace and a bar with comfortable seating, we spent a bit of time there after we got back from our dinner out and had great drinks(skiers mug) and enjoyed the warmth of the fire. Woody is very personable, gave us a warm welcome and then left us to our own devices, offering to let us look at menus of the restaurants in the area or eat downstairs. Our room was perfect, very large and very homey. The room had it’s own heater so we had control over the temperature. The bed was very comfortable and the shades were great as they blocked lots of light — the room had great windows that allowed plenty of light during the day. Highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed here for one night and thought it was great. The room was comfortable and clean. We also had dinner and breakfast, both meals were excellent. The owner, Woody, was accommodating and helpful… he provided us with information on a local hike along Table Top Trail, which turned out to be a great recommendation. We felt very comfortable here and wished we had stayed longer. We’d definitely recommend this B&B to anyone traveling to Bethel.

Mill Hill Inn is a terrific addition to better dining in Bethel and the Sunday River ski area. We dined there on 3÷15÷2013 and with a group of six sampled a large part of the menu. Every dish was totally devoured and greatly enjoyed. The beautiful old inn is charmingly decorated and added to the occasion. We look forward to a return visit.

Best restaurant in Bethel! Thank you, thank you, Woody for opening up a FANTASTIC restaurant. My husband and I have not been to the Bethel area for quite some time, mainly because we have not been impressed with the après-ski dinning options, but I’m happy to say that has changed. The food was AMAZING. It was probably one of the best meals my husband and I have had in awhile, and we hail from Boston which has lots of good dinning options. I’m a vegetarian and my husband is not, so we where both happy with the variety of options. The menu is really delicious and tasty comfort food with a twist. We both had delicious salads(I don’t think I’ve ever seen my husband finish a salad), the starter bread with dip was amazing, the black bean and sweet potato quesadilla was to die for, and my husband loved his terriaki chicken. The co-owner and wife, made a delicious home made blueberry pie, for dessert, yum yum. We are so happy that a local told us about the Mill Hill Inn because it was delicious. They are kind of tucked away, at the end of main street, right near the Bethel Inn and firehouse, and I think only open certain hours, so check their website/call to confirm they are open. When we where leaving, they had live music getting ready to start, and that is a fun option(since there is not much in Bethel). While some people may not like tapas, we liked it b/c we ordered 6 dishes total and our bill was less than $ 50 and we had a ton of food-enough to satisfy after a full day of skiing. You can’t go wrong. It’s also an inn, which looks great, and Woody has a lot of his pottery on display in the lobby, and next time we would love to buy something. Enjoy!

Ok, to be fair, we can’t really rate this place as a B&B or restaurant because we didn’t stay or eat here(though the food looked great!) We went to the Mill Hill Inn last night based on a local’s recommendation. We got to check out a fun bluegrass band(The Swamp Donkeys) and have a few drinks in a great space. Like seeing a show in a big, comfy living room/great room. No brews on tap, but great bottled list. Attentive staff. Definitely worth a visit.
