Fashion Craft Cleaners

I don’t regularly dry clean clothes, but do take in my husband’s dress clothes about once a month. Today I took in the clothes, along with a Christmas stocking that my mother had cross stitched 23 years ago for my son. I had hand washed the stocking, and the red bled all over it. After a couple of attempts soaking it, I decided to see if they could do anything with it, worrying that it was going to stay pink. The owners are always so nice, and today, one of them worked on it for a while and was able to get out almost all of the pink. He told me how I could work on it a little bit more at home. It’s the great customer service that keeps me coming to this dry cleaner. I always feel like I matter to them, and the clothes are always perfect when I pick them up.

I took several shirts in for laundering and one came back with 2 tears in the collar. When I asked the owner about them and noted that the dress shirt was now ruined he informed me that the problem was the shirt was old. The only problem I see is that the shirt was not torn when delivered to the cleaner and was when it was returned to me. No longer patronizing this business.

So I never go on-​line and post anything good or bad but this time I have to post a warning about the dry cleaner and the incredibly poor business practices. Let me first say that buyer beware — when you read multiple entries that are bad you need to reconsider. Let me first say that I should not have left my drycleaning at the facility as long as I did — that said; I contacted Fashion Craft Cleaners, about two weeks ago and spoke with the woman and gave her two ticket numbers to let her know that I would be in to get my drycleaning. She told me they had nothing in their system for me. I gently explained that I had the two ticket stubs given to me and that I had not picked anything up, again she said there was nothing there for me so that was it nothing there. I asked for Morty, the owner, and when I finally talked to him on the phone he was very nasty and defensive. I told him that if he had disposed of my items just let me know but otherwise assurred him that I had not picked up the items and had I, would not have my ticket stubs still. He told me he keeps all drycleaning for one year and that he would not have disposed of anything and again said I did not bring anything there and he had no record of the ticket numbers. He told me he remembered the faux fur throw I had bought in that was being sent to the furrier for cleaning and he distinctly remembered my picking it up. Again, I told him he was wrong and asked him to look, he agree and said he would call me the following Monday which he never did. I went in the following Saturday and this is where it gets ugly, the owner, Morty gets nasty and defensive telling me that I simply do not remember picking up my orders. He disavows any knowledge of the items until pressed where he did in fact recall taking the faux fur throw but then again insisted I picked it up. This confrontation got so bad and so nasty on his part I could not believe it. For two years I have used this drycleaners and given his son’s carpet & uphostery business my business and this is how I am treated. Let me just tell you that the throw they stold, lost or gave to someone else was a $ 500 custom made piece and I had approximately $ 350 in winter clothing that are now also gone. The drycleaning is done at the Fashion Craft Cleaners in Bethesda MD and if you bother to check their ratings you will see people very unhappy with them also. I called Dale, Morty’s son who manages the Bethesda MD location and after a pack of lies from him and a broken promise to look for my items and call me back he has done nothing and I don’t expect he will. This drycleaner is top of the line expensive and like I told Morty I used Zips for years and while I was not happy with the quality at least they never lost, gave away or stold my items. Buyer beware these folks are liers and thiefs.

Dale’s rebuttal comments on my review are unreal. He’s also lying about being contacted by the BBB about the complaint that I put through to the BBB about Fashion Craft, because the BBB has not contacted them about my claim yet, maybe about someone else’s claim, but not mine yet.

I never bother to write reviews but unfortunately I kind of feel like i have to. In the past these folks have been «okay» (ie nice dresses still a little wrinkled but otherwise OK). I took my wedding dress there to get a bustle (so simple) put on. It went in ⁶⁄₁₅. They gave me a purple receipt with confirmation for $ 16. By ⁷⁄₆ I finally went to get it and it was done SO incorrectly it was like a joke. It was sort of like they had no idea what a bustle is (even though I went over it with them when I brought it in, it was like they had never seen this before). Anyway, a bustle on the inside can be done well but this person first made it so there was. no bustle. Just some clips in the train. I don’t know where they actually fastened to. It would have been funny had i not also noticed a stain on the dress. They said they would fix it. My fiancé went in a couple days later to get it and they had sort of made it so the dress was completely inside out and bizarre. I am really easygoing but… this is my WEDDING DRESS! Apparently the woman behind my fiancé in ling said somethign like «it’s a good thing your fiancée isn’t here because i would be screaming and yelling if i were her). Needless to say I was very upset. At any rate, they said they would fix it (again) for me. When my fiancée picked it up they charged him more than my receipt. Granted it wasn’t THAT much more (it was like $ 22) but it bothered me and like I said I am usually kind of relaxed about that stuff. I called and was very nice and patient and explained why it upset me. The woman who answered the phone said she didn’t think I should have been charged at all. The man who got on the phone, Darryl, said he was «just going by the computer» and «didn’t know why it was modified.» That was about it. It’s not worth screaming at anyone about, but unlike the other reviews, I thought the employees had it together and the owners had no clue. It isn’t worth yelling about but I won’t go back. Just a heads up to those who might be a little. more…sensitive.about things like wedding dresses!

THE WORST. Do not go here.
Lost my blue blazer and have not compensated me for it. They are liars and crooks.

I have given this place countless second-​chances over the past 6 months, mainly because they are so close, they offer free delivery, and they gave us 50% off grab bags. Unfortunately, they always overcharge us — despite the 50% discount. And they don’t charge your account each time you use them — it’s a quarterly charge (or every 2 months, they still haven’t explained this to me). Long story short, the owners are very nice, but their employees always give the run around, and I’m sick of being overcharged.

Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty! The owner/​manager removed the huge chocolate and another stain off my sofa cushion cover while I waited AND he refused payment. «Just come back», he said. I most certainly will!

The best! All the employees are extremely helpful. The owners go above and beyond. I was outside of the store one day on a last minute phone call and one of the owners came out, took my dry cleaning and brought it in to get started while I finished my call! They do a great job.
