Good standard tex mex. All the workers are nice attentive and at your service. Fajitas and Tacos are very good. I like the variety on the menu and how fast everything is made.

Having lived so long in Southern California, I usually tend to shy away from«Mexican Cuisine» restaurants because they sell the same food you could get at an Alberto’s or Cotixan’s at an enormous mark-up. Not so here in DC, and I really enjoyed it here! I got the Guano’s Superior and it came with juicy thick cut grilled steak and chicken, with bacon rapped shrimp, rice and beans. Very, very good!

Great service. Great food. Had the shrimp special. Food served on piping hot steaming plate.

Food was good, nice atmosphere, no bargain though. Waiter was new and didn’t get the concept of «bring the food while it’s still hot». Very odd, they charged for extra bread that was warm on the outside, cold inside. Also, charged for corn tortillas but brought tons of handmade flour tortillas. Mexican restaurants shouldn’t ever charge for tortillas or bread. It’s un-Mexican! They wouldn’t take either off the check until I told them they forgot to charge for the desert. Then the bread and tortilla’s went off the check and the desert went on. Good meal, stupid management, neophyte service. Will try again because my relatives like it.

Delish food, awesome happy hour specials, and warm, friendly staff. Margaritas are super-good(strong). They’ll even come and serenade you on your birthday! This is a great go-to place for casual get-togethers and happy hours. The atmosphere isn’t all that, but if you want good Tex-Mex, look no further. Tip– you can park behind the restaurant in the parking garage. There is a door in the back through a hotel that takes you straight into their dining room.

I came here long time ago and have friends that dine here regular and praise this place. I always had the impression that the food was superior. This time I was not impressed at all. Maybe I have been spoiled by fine Mexican restaurants where they prepare fresh guacamole. not here. I usually judge the outcome of my meal based upon the chips and the salsa. The salsa was diced tomato chunks and onions and tasted funny. The chips passed inspection but nothing too crazy. The ambience is moderate and decorated with great artwork. The staff is nice and friendly. I ordered a Corn Tamale and Chile Rellenos accompanied by a Victoria beer. I had to guess if they had Victoria. There is no beer list on the menu. Menu is poorly designed. I found the meat in the Chile Relleno to be too oily and greasy. The Tamale was good and I would order this again. The food is regular and decent for being a Mexican restaurant but way over rated and way over priced. I understand if its going to be over priced especially since its in Bethesda but I at least expecting to see something authentic on the menu like mole, tortas, huarache, etc You can find what you would find at any local Mexican restaurant, the regular fajitas, burritos, chimichangas, etc. The same weekend that I was here I also went to Tampicos Mexican Restaurant in Laurel and they make just about the same food with better ingredients and not as high priced.

Standard Mexican food — went with a big group, and it’s definitely good for that purpose. I got the Tacos El Paso and they were decent, but the side of refried beans was really thin and the rice was just okay. Additonally, the amount of guac, sour cream, and pico they give per dish is pretty small for 3 tacos, I definitely wanted more. Complimentary chips were on point though, and the house margarita was really good, though I only had a few sips. Staff is friendly, though I was there later in the night and leisurely is the word I would use to describe service.

Place is pretty good. Is a good meal for the money. Place was clean and the staff was friendly. Essentially it is tapered down Mexican food. It is not particularly authentic but definitely good. The margaritas are huge and they are quick to not let your drinks run dry. Has a relaxed atmosphere and is a decent place for a casual meal.

Great simulated atmosphere – decorations, flooring, architechture; Awesome food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I always get the Steak Fajitas or the large mixed platter because it’s excellent.. Their ribs are fantastic. In fact, not sure if anything is just«meh». I’ve eaten from here several dozen times and have never been disappointed. Yummy yum yum.

We started with the chips and guac, not table side but still good. I then got chicken enchiladas. They were exactly like you’d expect. This place is a very good value for the price. Margaritas were big but tasted watered down. The staff was very friendly.

This place is decent. The outside may look a little sketchy, but the inside is fine and the food was great. It was busy on Monday night, but not so busy that I wasn’t seated right away. The house margarita was good(and strong). So was worth the $ 7. I had the steak tacos and they were good. Nothing special. Just tortilla and steak. But that’s how I like it. Came with guac/salsa/sour cream on the side. If I was in the area I would probably come back here.

OK. Service was great — Food ok. If you truly know good Mexican Food — shift your rudder, if you like Chilis(the chain restaurant /taco bell)…and are looking for a quick Mexican fix — this may satisfy your expectation.

Guapo’s is a very generic Mexican restaurant, but that’s a good thing. Everything you’d expect to be on the menu is there, and it’s unlikely that you’ll leave unsatisfied. However, don’t be expecting a «wow» factor Pros: + Flavorful and authentic. I had the Chicken burrito, and it was nice and juicy. + Really excellent waiting staff. Our waiter was really helpful and willing to put up with any requests. There was also a birthday in the room and the waiters all came out and sang as a band. + The presentation of the foods was great. It looked fancy and appetizing. + Surprisingly giant interior with lots of seating areas. Great ambience. Cons: — It’s on the very outskirts of Bethesda, so it might be harder to get to for some. — It was pretty noisy, at least in the front room. For being used to Chipotle for all my Tex-Mex cravings, Guapo’s was a pleasant surprise. It was an all-around great experience and is definitely worth visiting for lunch or dinner.

Who in their right mind goes to a Tex Mex-type restaurant while on a low-carb diet? This girl! My apartment building is located right behind this restaurant, so we entered through the back entrance(Woodmont Ave.) It’s super depressing and weird, and you have to go past some seedy-looking motel rooms to get to the host stand. I’d recommend entering from Wisconsin, for sure. This is a huge space, and only half of the restaurant was filled, but it was pretty happening. The staff really get into character, putting sombreros on birthday girls/boys(or men/women) and singing to them, which is fun. Besides the singing and mariachis, the restaurant is really loud. Probably not the best spot for a first date. Service was excellent, our waiter was friendly and just the right amount of attentive. Margaritas were pretty yummy, too. The food wasn’t so great, unfortunately. Their website boasts about them having the best salsa around, but I thought it was terrible! Maybe I have high standards after living in Texas for 17 years, but still – definitely the worst salsa I’ve had in a long time. There were the biggest chunks of veggies I’ve ever seen at the top of thin, watery tomato juice. It could’ve definitely benefitted from 2 – 3 pulses in a food processor. Chips were fine. I ordered a taco salad with steak. The meat was pretty fatty/gristly, and it didn’t come with all of the ingredients listed on the menu. My low-carb diet appreciated the lack of refried beans, but the consumer part of me paying $ 16 for some beef and lettuce didn’t. Random anecdote: Not that this has anything to do with the restaurant, but I witnessed something really disgusting here(and this will not affect the restaurant’s rating at all)– a very sick old man two tables over from us kept sneezing and sniffling all over the place, and then had the gall to actually voluntarily lift his finger to one of his nostrils and do a SNOTROCKET into his napkin! AHHHHHH! I woke up sniffly and sneezy myself this morning, and I’m convinced that man got me sick! SOGROSS and unappetizing! Anyway, once I’m off my diet, I’ll come back and try their fajitas or a burrito and get another one of their yummy margaritas, and hopefully won’t be stuck by a sick snot-rocketing person again.

I met my future roommate for the first time here for a Sunday brunch! Since it was a Sunday there was plenty of free street parking right outside the restaurant. The place itself was pretty empty which served well for a first time meet up! Our waiter attended to us right when we were seated and gave us enough time to decide what we wanted without being pushy. The food itself was tasty and fairly sized. I also got a bloody mary which was perfectly seasoned(even though I added a little bit more hots to it). Def recommend to anyone craving some Mexican brunch food!

The service was great and many other restaurants could learn something from Guapos. I read many reviews on this place saying how good the food was and and the excellent wait staff. The reviews were right on target. Guapos has several locations and this particular location is connected to a hotel. There is metered parking and there is a parking garage across the street with very cheap prices. I was able to get an hour for about 80 cents. I ordered a sangarita which is basically a sangria/margarita mix. It was accompanied by steak nachos and the combination fajitas consisting of chicken and steak. Food came out quickly and hot. One thing I noticed about this place and I have not seen it since I was in Texas or SoCal was the making of flour tortillas by the staff of Guapos in plain view of those enjoying this establishment. The chicken and steak that came with the meal had a perfect char that added to the flavor. After tasting the fajitas and nachos I am so wishing that they had an establishment closer to the Odenton area. I started off with a safe menu item but if this is an indication of anything else I am ready to try so many items off their extensive menu. To sum it all up the food is MUYBIEN!!!

If you appreciate seeing a professional wait staff, try having a dinner here– it’s a truly enlightening, educating, and even inspiring experience! Guapo’s is definitely my favorite place in Bethesda and probably the DC area! I’ve been coming here to the Bethesda Guapo’s for the past 5 years and have never had a bad experience. Everything is timely, consistent and professional about Guapo’s. The food is delicious and compared to other Mexican food restaurants, Guapo’s blows them out of the water! We get the Ceviche, Burritos, Tacitos, Tortilla soup and steak fajitas. All of them are consistent, cooked quickly, and delicious! The tortilla chips and salsa are just perfect also! I used to get the coffee and now I get the margaritas; either way, uppers or downers, Guapo’s does it right! The servers recognize me and are always so polite to everyone. They are really professional and I am always excited to go there to see their familiar faces. For an inexpensive lunch sometimes, I’ll stop by and get their Express Salad, with which they include their chips and salsa again! Awesome!

Mike B., I am shutting your Unilocal review down. Down down down down down! Your mama included in the group who came here after your Unilocal elite event had a fabulous time here. I do not mean to speak on behave of everyone, but I am going to for the sake of this review. We had 4 pitchers of margaritas. These margaritas are strong and would make you decide to skip out on work for the next two days because the buzz is simply that good. I left a happy camper. I am not doubting that everyone else did too. We had such a wonderful time socializing, and the alcohol only made the situation more entertaining. I am more than sure I opened my mouth wide open way more than I should have. I wish I could blame the margaritas, but truth be told I just talk too much. At least I admit my faults. I had a cheese quesadilla, tons of free table chips and salsa along with my margaritas. Thanks Connie! She kept them coming. For the most part this was a good thing… Service was great. We saw Paolo and Juan quite often and never had to ask for refills because they came around just enough to make sure there was no shortage of anything. Everyone got what they needed when it was needed. I would totally come back! I know Guapo’s is a chain, but this was my first visit to one, and I was spoiled. I only expect this to be continued with my next visit.

This place is still amazing! but you have to try their chicken fajita’s some of the best around… heck I sometimes just eat the chicken and leave the veggies where they are! Also the fried ice cream is great especially with honey and chocolate! Double win! We keep coming back to this place even if its 30 mins away!

Usually, every Sunday morning. My friends and I usually spend a good 20 – 30 minutes fighting about where to go to lunch/brunch. They always suggest 3 different suggestions: Hard times, Nest Café, and Panera. 1. Hard times: I just can’t do wings/chili for brunch. I’m sorry– my stomach is made out of butterfly wings. And that just won’t fly. 2. Nest Café: Though after discovering Nest Café a while ago, I was really excited about it’s prospects; The last couple of times I’ve went there, I’ve found it a little clunky and mediocre. 3. Panera: The Devil. Now, then after they suggest these places, I always fire back with my aces in the hole. 1. Vace: They always make fun of me because there is no place to sit. I say… why don’t we just bring it back to my places.(ey, then we save on a waiters tip). Amazing pizza and delicious sandwiches made on housemade focaccia bread. Sign me up! 2. Phở Place: There’s nothing like a giant big warm bowl of phở filled with everything that makes the world wonderful to cure a Sunday morning hangover. 3. A food truck: Hey it’s Sunday! Why don’t we just grab some good street food and enjoy the day. They come back at me with… also there is no place to sit. Good point, but there’s parks and shiz. So then. this past Sunday, as per usual, we fought about where to go for about 20 minutes and settled on the closest possible restaurant to our location(Guapos). Why we thought starting the day out with Mexican food would be the best thing to do is beyond most of our current comprehension, but we did. So we go to Guapos… and SURPRISESURPRISE ! They have a brunch menu! And not only do they have a brunch menu… they have huevos rancheros. This is a big secret… but I freakin’ love huevos rancheros. I know. I’ve come out of the ranch-eros closet. I used to make huevos rancheros for myself on Sunday morning when I had nothing to do. Get me some refried beans, make some fresh made tortillas. There’s really some wonderfully satisfying about refried beans, eggs, and salsa on a fresh tortilla. Guapo’s adaptation was on a crispy corn… chip. The proportions on the ingredients were a bit off and it was just generally… not nearly as appetizing as I thought it would be. It was served with a small dish of fruit(I appreciate this). And it also had a little corn tamale biscuit thing which was delicious. But it was also served with mashed potatoes that were bright yellow(I’m confused) and refried beans in a fried tortilla bowl(unnecessary). The whole construct just made me a little upset. Other’s meals looked a little clumsy and in authentic as well. Chorizo looked like pale sausages stuffed into stale tortillas and everything was lacking a little sauce/salsa. We all left the meal feeling a little depressed. Asking, «Why did we decide on Guapos?» Not only because it was Sunday morning and Mexican wasn’t the best thing after a long night of indulging. But also, cause the food was extraordinarily sub-par. There was also a really weird busboy who was oppressively attentive. But, I’ve never seen this happen before: He would full hand tap people’s backs before asking if they would like a refill on their drink. It was just really awkward. And. that’s Guapos brunch people.
