Great food at a great value. I usually order koobideh at Persian restaurants, but Moby’s joojeh is on point. Go to order is Joojeh with half salad and half rice. As with most Persian restaurants, you get a generous portion of food along with bread and mast’o-khiar(yogurt with cucumbers, salt and, black pepper). Tip: Order ahead of time for a quick pick up. Also, they accept LevelUp.

Food is still good but has gone steeply downhill in recent visits. Portion sizes are lacking and they skimp on the yellow rice. Most entrée items have an added layer of oil of grease that I don’t remember in the past. The restaurant itself needs a good cleaning, tables and waiting area are often very messy. We now only order takeout as a result. Grape leaves are exceptional, everything else is decent but not great. I am not sure how often they make new bread but on our last several visits it has been tough and chewy, very stale. Wish they had kept the same standard of quality as they had 5+ years ago. Staff have been, and continue to be, extremely kind and friendly.

Came here with the desire to eat great Persian food. Ordered the Baghaale Polo lunch special and it was a joke gives the worst representation of Persian cuisine. No fava beans(which is the essential part of this dish) and very little dill in the rice. Seemed like we were served the bottom of the pot of rice and they basically threw together something to be able to sell it for $ 11. Brought it to the managers attention and he said that’s how it comes and that’s it, so rude! Instead of making the customer happy or apologizing, he walked away and went back to what he was doing. Last time we’ll be back here!

To follow-up, I went back again because I still really like the food here however when I ordered the kebab-E Kubideh half and half which somehow I thought would have changed since my last review and might give me a half lightly grilled tomato… Still no tomato. However when I ordered the half and half at the money dick in Georgetown last week I got a half tomato, rice, some salad and a half bread; just the way I like it! I just want a little of everything with my Kubideh! On a different note the special of the day is usually sold out by noon or very early afternoon. Although this has been true for the decades that I have been going there.

Moby Dick House of Kabob definitely serves up some of the best kabobs in the area — always consistent, always of excellent quality, always delicious! I had the Kabob E-Joojeh platter for lunch today, featuring a generous serving of boneless chicken breast that’s tender, juicy, and nicely seasoned. I opted for their nice Greek-style salad that contains a good amount of feta, onions, and pepperoncini, allowing me to check off the ‘pretty healthy’ box today. Instead of the salad, you can choose their wonderful aromatic rice, which is always a winner. The platters come with a side of pita and their tasty yogurt cucumber sauce.(I’d like to see some garlic in that sauce, making it more like a tzatziki but, that aside, it’s still quite good.) The folks behind the counter are great, and the kitchen prepares every single dish to order, so your chicken is right off the grill when it gets to your table. Moby Dick obviously also has international appeal, since I heard patrons speaking in French, Greek, German, and Spanish in my short half-hour in the restaurant, very continental! The parking is pretty easy, with big municipal lot behind the building, saving you having to try to park on a very busy stretch of Wisconsin Avenue. All in all, a really nice, satisfying lunch at Moby Dick’s original location in Bethesda. Thumbs up!

This place has potential. Had a Gyro. All the ingredients were great except the bread. It was like chewing gum. I almost choked on it, it was so chewy! If they grilled it a bit crispy it would be amazing.

The experience here was pretty good but not great. The food is very good probably 4 stars. My order was messed up slightly which is a big downside and makes me think the service isn’t that great. Inside isn’t great not too much to sit. There is also a broken chair.

Been coming here with my family for years. Best persian food/kabob in the area. Always delicious and top quality food. Inexpensive, low key, good portions, good service and delicious. I love their bread, hummus, kashk o badjemin, and saffron rice. Range of veggie, fish, and meat options to please everyone.

After horrible experiences with the joke of a restaurant Yamas, I was THRILLED to learn Moby Dick’s delivers on Door Dash. Placed my regular order, gyro platter. Had ordered regular take-out from here with my family for years and always got the same thing. First time trying it in over a year and I think they’ve changed their portions. There were far fewer slices of meat and almost no yellow rice. Much less meat than in the sandwiches but for a higher price for the platter. They meat that was there though was delicious as usual. The sauces are good and the rice is the perfect texture. If it were my first time coming here I’d probably rate it higher but based on past experiences it just didn’t live up. I’ll likely order from here again, though with the $ 5.99 delivery fee it doesn’t seem as worth it. Still, best gyro in the area. My friend ordered the baklava and bread with yogurt sauce and said it was pretty good. She also split the gyro platter I ordered and was somewhat surprised there wasn’t more meat. But she did say it was the best gyro meat she has tasted in a long time. Also, there is a new(to me at least, never seen it there before) white garlic sauce that comes on the side. It is good but use it very sparingly so it doesn’t overpower the natural spices in the meat. I still prefer the cucumber yogurt sauce.

Pretty decent kabob! Staff was friendly and food came out within 10 minutes. Chicken kebab was very flavorful. Rice was da bomb dot com. Salad was decent salad. Sauces are amazing and the homemade pita bread is soft and hot and delish!

Their chicken is probably the best item on the menu, my favorite chicken dish in the area. Their tzatziki isn’t great but they make up for it with the quality of their meat. Their baklava is also very good.

If I were reviewing the Silver Spring location, I would have given it one star, but it’s closed. And thankfully so. Roaches. Ugh. I had one climb up the table to greet me. Yekta is my go-to kabob place. I was on a kabob-kick last year and tried all of the restaurants in the area. Moby Dick is just average in terms of their food(dry meat, not well-seasoned), but if you’re in a hurry and need a kabob fix, it may be for you. Just don’t expect anything fancy(styrofoam plates) and expect the place to be on the dark, damp, and dingy side. Don’t eat in, take out!

Great food at a good price. The humus is particularly good. Also, the chicken kabob and ground beef kabob.

The food was decent good portion almost too much but not enough feta cheese! I’m only giving 3 stars because they were so busy answering the phones that it seemed like the guests in the building weren’t that important. The young lady taking my order answered the phone 3 times while I was trying to place my order. The place is tiny with no exit/entry space everyone just shoves past you while your standing in line.

I never grew up with kabobs or mediterranean food so when I first tried Moby’s, I was not accustomed to the taste. However, after a few more visits, I’ve grown to really appreciate and like the food here. The best part about Moby’s is the consistency… What you order every time is what you get every time. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu – My favorite is the fish kabobs and the combos. Actually, my favorite is the rice and bread and hummus. Prices are reasonable for what you get — you are getting restaurant grade food and portions in a fast food format.

Two and a half stars. Both times our office has ordered from here, they’ve messed up someone’s order. You’re otherwise getting the standard Moby Dick experience: buttery rice, occasionally dry meat, average bread.

Always happy to get something from Moby Dick. I usually get their gyro sandwich or chicken kabobs. Both are very good. I wish the sandwich came with something worthwhile. I’m not sure what. Their bread is made fresh and can be a little inconstant – sometimes it is almost tough. Still, in their category, they are top of the heap.

The food is good but don’t expect good service. If you complain about the food or about the service, expect to be treated with a lot of attitude! I work one block away from their Bethesda location so I used to eat there a lot. One would expect to be treated more nicely once they become regular customers at a place. But they continued to treat me and my colleagues with a lot of attitude to a point that we just gave up going to that restaurant, besides the fact that our food was usually undercooked or missing a side or we just had to wait for a long time for our food. So it’s not even a good fast food place!

3.5 stars Located near a wine shop(haha) and is fairly easy to find(~0.5 mi from the Bethesda metro? Like straight along Wisconsin Ave… don’t quote me on that distance though. But you get the point, it’s close to the metro)… it’s also relatively close to the Women’s Farmer’s Market, to Bethesda Ave… basically good location. You go in to the counter and they take your order(you can get it to go, or you can dine in the store), give you a number and then you wait for your order to be called. It’s not too long of a wait which can be a good thing. It’s also fairly inexpensive. The space to dine is is also decently sized, not too small. As for the kabobs, they’re good, alright, but I wouldn’t say they’re the best. I’ve tried their lamb and their chicken kabobs(Kabob-E Barreh and Kabob-E Joojeh… ~$ 11 and ~$ 10, respectively) with the rice… and well, while I found the chicken to be alright., their lamb was a bit dry and tough to chew. It’s seasoned alright… good but not great(I don’t know if this is because I went in there with high expectations or what). The service is nice, the workers are all pretty friendly. Their hummus was also pretty good, tasting fresh. The one thing that makes me give this place 3.5 stars is their rice. SUCHGOODWARMRICEWITH A SLABOFBUTTERONTOP. The best… of course, that’s if butter is your friend. And it is mine :)

I was filled with excitement at the thought of having Kabob again for the first time in many months, and this Moby Dick location did not disappoint. I’d previously been to the Moby Dick location in Silver Spring, MD, and wasn’t too impressed. But this particular branch was great — quick service, delicious and inexpensive food, clean environment. I was dead set against Iranian fast food in the past, but I think it’s a very unique and up-and-coming concept. It allows non-Iranians more of a chance to taste the excellent cuisine of the Persians. I’d highly recommend the kabob koobideh. Succulent kabob seasoned with spices, served on a bed of white and saffron-gold rice. What more can you want?
