Stopped in today for the first time in search of some different craft beer. Not sure what to expect besides what other reviews I read, I was pleasantly overwhelmed when I walked in with all the different options they have. I didn’t look at any of the traditional domestics such as bud, Miller, etc but they do have all that stuff. Along with a nice variety of ciders, ipas, stouts, etc. We ended up leaving with two six packs and two bomber bottles of a certain beer we searched the valley for. Prices are better than Wegmans/Weis for individual bottles with a far better selection.

I see that Abe’s has a lot of great reviews on Unilocal and I suppose depending on what you’re looking for I can see why. First and foremost is simply that over in this area of the LV there really are no other places to get beer in general past a six pack of Bud let alone singles. Now for me personally that’s not my thing so I really don’t care and just because you’re the only game in town does not necessarily make you the best or even very good. My thing is hard cider and for that Abe’s is alright. It’s alright in that they have choices but they’re mostly all the mass marketed stuff like Woodchuck, Strongbow and Redd’s. If you want something more local or regional they simply don’t carry it. The analogy is that it would be like Abe’s only carrying Bud, Miller and Coors and then skipping everything else in terms of variety. I get it that this place is small and only has a limited amount space which is already stocked end to end but at the same time the facts are the facts. A few thoughts about other the other reviews: * In terms of pricing on cider, meh. A six pack of will set you back twelve dollars and I can get the same six pack in NJ for less than ten. * In terms of availability things with cider are hit and miss as certain flavors/brands always seem to be there and then certain things seemingly disappear for long stretches. Although compared to most I suppose I’m fortunate in that everything for me is always in the same place in the store so no spelunking is required. * In terms of the staff, I can’t say they’re friendly or not because I’ve never interacted with them past paying and pretty much everyone I see in there more or less knows what they want and is in/out very quickly. For beer I suppose Abe’s is great in that you can sample things without having to commit to a larger quantity. But for me personally if Abe’s weren’t so close(walking distance) I would throw Tanczos all of my business as they have a lot more selection at a comparable or better price.

Reviewing for my BF. He easily spends a couple thousands dollars here in a year, picking up new beers to try each week. We just moved into an apartment literally across the street, so I think we are going to be visiting and drinking from Abe’s(aka spending more money) regularly now. I do not drink specialty craft beer, but he is always able to find something that excites him and is new for him(the bloke has tried hundreds hundreds of beers).

Great place to buy a six pack. They have a great selection. There is well over a hundred beers. Just a bit expensive lately.

Abe’s has two positive things going for it: a larger selection, and the fact that it has no competition. I have stopped in at Abe’s regularly over the past two years, but I won’t be anymore. They sell beer from all of the big-time craft breweries, but if there is something specific or rare that you are looking for, you probably will not find it. The staff is unknowledgeable and rude. I recently stopped in and was told that I must pick something immediately and leave. I was the only person in the store. I tried to explain that I had run 3 miles to get there and planned to walk back with my selection after looking around at the selection for a couple of minutes, but I was shooed away. It is apparently more important that they have their free time, alone in the store, than sell any product to repeat customers.

This is the holy grail of six pack shops for beer geeks in the Leigh Valley. Beers from near and far, make your own six pack, buy a couple bombers or just a single. This place is my jam. Abe and Emma are constantly getting new beers that make me swoon. On more than one occasion I have stopped what I was doing just to get my hands on one of the get-it-while-it-lasts beers they are lucky enough to get a case of. Stop drinking that fizzy, «triple hops brewed» corporate crap and get your hands on some REAL beer.

I’ve seen Abe’s grow from a wannabe deli selling mostly macro beers with a small micro brew mix and match section back in 2004 to the craft beer destination it is today. Though located in Bethlehem’s West, Side Abe’s has become a Lehigh Valley beer mecca of sorts. Not only does Abe get business from Lehigh Valley residents but you’ll often see cars with out of state plates there because of Abe’s fantastic selection. Sure Abe gets most of his business from 40oz sales and six pack’s of Miller and Bud, but he allocates more than 80% of his store to craft beer, micros, Belgians and imports. Due to space limitations and a constant rotation of beer the organization of the store can be chaotic. You’ll find an aisle of American craft singles(bombers, cork and cage bottles and the like), Imports(from Germany, Poland, UK), Belgians(including rare Lambics, Kriek’s and sour beers) and a section of American craft beer six packs. Eight large cooler doors in the rear house a mix and match single section and some Belgians along with cold six packs of Weyerbacher, Troegs, Stoudt’s, Victory, Fegley’s Brew Works and other local beers. The remainder of the stores cooler space houses 40’s, macro six packs(all the Yeungling products as well as PBR) and larger micro brew six packs such as Sam Adam’s and Sierra Nevada. Though Abe doesn’t drink and knows little about beer he knows how to sell it and because of this not much is on the shelves too long and you are guaranteed fresh beer. New stuff is always coming in(sign up for their email list for special releases), meet the brewer events are frequent, parking is ample and Abe’s is open every day of the year including Sunday’s and Holidays.

Really good beer selection from all over the US and world, for that matter. I make a point to seek out new and unique beers when I travel and Abe’s has a terrific selection of beers that are definitely unique, to say the least. Highly recommended foe the beer connoisseur.

Abe’s is easily the greatest beer store I’ve ever been to. They have several aisles of the big bottles of microbrews and imports, with an amazing selection. I’ve found all sorts of good beer there, and the prices aren’t too bad. I used to think Wegman’s was the place to go to get import/microbrew beer around here, but now I only go to Abe’s.

This place has one of the largest selection of beers on the eastern side of PA. Absolutely great selection. Staff is wonderful and prices are great. Some of the cheapest prices for rare beers.

Abe is the man. Make your own sixes in a beer heaven. Shangy’s has nothing on this place because you can mix and match instead of being stuck with a whole 24. I like to mix it up. Shelves and shelves of very reasonably priced beers from all over the world. It’s easy to spend well over an hour browsing the vast bottle selection to create your six pack du jour. Also a great selection of bombers and rare brews.

Amazing, simply could not be happier with this bottle shop. They have a wide variety, and any beer fan, nigh even a beer snob, would have a hard time not finding at least two or three beers they simply have to walk out with. They have a great make your own six pack selection, and this is often the route I personally go– and the price is super fair. Both cold and warm selections are available, and their selection of specialty ales and bombers is impeccable. Of course they have all the standard beer selections as well. The owner Abe is an extremely nice and friendly fellow, and everyone I have run into on the staff is equally so. All are happy to make suggestions or help you find that bottle you came in looking for. It also should be noted that they sell cigarettes, and cold non-alcoholic beverages as well. In summation, if you are in or near Bethlehem, and want to grab some beer, look no further.

Hands down best bottle shop in the Lehigh Valley. Shangy’s in Emmaus has an AMAZING selection for a distributer but if you want less than a case stop here! Think of it as the Shangy’s of bottle shops. Location is a little odd and it obviously used to be a 7 – 11 or something, but selection in AMAZING, prices are good, and service is really good.
