I’ve seen 3 sandwich places occupy this spot while going to school at Lehigh: first was Quizno’s, which lasted for about 2 years, then Sandwich Garden, which lasted less than a year, and now it’s Dave’s. It’s clearly a tough spot for a lunch place, made even more difficult by the presence of the student favorite Goosey Gander nearby. Dave’s has some great sandwiches, and they’re slightly more«refined» than the Goose’s, I guess you could say. Fancier rolls, lettuce, etc. I personally really like the Twisted Turkey sandwich, as well as the Chicken Ranchero. My biggest issue with Dave’s, however, is the price. For a sandwich, chips, and a drink, you’re looking at $ 10 or more, whereas at the Goose, it’ll probably end up costing $ 7 or $ 8 for the same thing, and the sandwiches themselves are much bigger. For this reason alone, I seldom go to Dave’s and much prefer the Goose. I think Dave’s has a chance of lasting longer than the previous tenants, because they seem to be a little more in tune with Lehigh students. I do really like that the location is open from 1am to 3am on Friday and Saturday nights, which the Goose never is. Overall, Dave’s is a decent place, and I would definitely eat there more often if it weren’t for the expensive sandwiches. For a great lunch on the cheap, the Goose is always the better option.
