Went in with my friend and paid $ 10 each to get in. After 5 minutes we were kicked out because we wouldn’t buy a hookah. There was no sign at the door saying we had to buy a hookah when we paid the cover. We also weren’t the only ones who didn’t buy a hookah. The security was very rough with me and my friend even though we weren’t drunk or resisting. Terrible place to go after the bar. All we wanted was our cover back and they wouldn’t do it. We were there 5 minutes.

This establishment has become my home away from home. I’ve been a regular since the first year they opened.
I’ve been in and out of every single bar/​club in the Lehigh Valley and none of them keep me coming back like Essence does.
It’s not a bar, it’s not a club, but it’s a lounge. Everyone gets their own section/​table so you have the option to sit and relax or get up and dance. The party doesn’t stop until 4 am! (Fri-​Sat)

Ok, so my friend goaded me into going back, so we did, with cash this time. I am still peeved at their minimum, but other than that, the place is an interesting mix of a night club (upstairs) and hookah lounge, but not to my tastes.

This place has consistently disappointed me and my friends. I have come here multiple times with friends on Saturday nights only to be told there’s a private party. The problem I have with this is they don’t put any notice of the private event online or even a sign at the door. If we bring our own beer it’s an inconvenience to find another place to drink.

To begin with, the place requires reservations despite the fact that it was FAR from packed, even on a Friday night. It’s also BYOB, which I wouldn’t mind except that they charge to hold your beverages behind the bar. The atmosphere and music were nice, and the service was average. The hookah itself was reallly good. Overall, the place has a lot of potential but my experience didn’t live up to it at all.

I reviewed this place before hoping that they would read these reviews and correct their mistakes, but they didn’t. They actually got worse. The service was horrific (although they were friendly) we ordered 4 hookahs and each came 10 min apart with the first one coming 20 min after ordering. We had brought two 1.75 liter bottles of alcohol (which we paid 10 dollars each to walk in with) to split between 12 people, we ordered two rounds of drinks and we all thought it just tasted like soda and when I went down stairs to use the bathroom I looked behind the bar and seen that our bottle was less than ¼ gone. We asked for them to make them stronger they said we needed to slow down cause we just ordered shots. Now think about this, we paid for the liquor and we paid for them to basically pour the drinks for us and they charged us a dollar per drink and they are going to tell how much of out alcohol we can drink? That’s ridiculous. On top of all this we only had about 3 or 4 drinks each and it’s not because we ordered 3 or 4 it’s because it took 20 min each time we ordered a round. It’s not like we were ordering martinis and special cocktails we ordered rum and cokes, their is no reason for it to take 20 min. the bill ended up being 150 with the 20% gratuity. It is safe to say I will never return to this place and I really really hope the owners read this and correct their mistakes because I don’t want them to fail but their is only so much I can take of getting robbed (without a gun)
