This really is a good place. The place can fool you into thinking it is a grocery /convinience store, but walk to the back of the store, you’ll be glad you did. I really wanted to get some blue crabs for a seafood feast from some friends. My usual place was not available because of a family emergency, enter Lopes Seafood. I called, they indeed were getting some in on a Thursday, alas females only(I wasn’t going to be picky, it was nearing the end of the season). They were alive, and very reasonably priced. While I was there, I got some clams as well… and I have to tell you they were FANTASTIC. Littlenecks that were larger in size than I usually see, meaty, delicious. Also notable, of course I am picky what I am going to eat /serve my family and friends when it comes to seafood… the staff was very careful to mention how to cook the crabs and reminded me not to cook any dead ones(et al… what I’m trying to say here… at no time did I feel they were they just trying to make a buck… I know not to cook crabs that are dead, or eat clams with broken shells… they were being very helpful and mindful of the products they were selling… I’m just trying to convey the vibe I got was they were helpful and want customers to come back… and not get sick in the process ;-)). Look, we don’t live on the ocean here in Bethlehem, but for my seafood fix, I’d go back to this place in a heartbeat. They seemed to care for the product they are putting out.
