Came here with a few coworkers for lunch and although it was a bit far from where I was there were no line and ample parking. The staff was friendly and quick. There are a few tables outside under a tent. The food was good! I ordered the chicken cordon blue and it came with 2 sides. Food was not too dry and price was just right. Definitely worth the drive for us.

There is no reason to go into a detailed review. The chicken is fantastic… the sides are great… and I love the fries as well. This place is a staple and should be declared a landmark. Love it!

Definitely good food, the fried chicken is excellent, the pork sausage as well. Sides are all top notch. I gave four stars because, good as the place is, it’d be nicer if it had a sit down section. Still, all told, you want some tasty food, especially in bulk for a party or fight night, it’s a place to order from, no doubt.

Delicious, succulent chicken done right. The boneless sesame chicken is a win. They use steak fries, not those shoe strings that some chains fall back on. Zorn’s has leapfrogged Boston Market in my mind as far as homestyle meals are concerned. I don’t enjoy their desserts much, as the apple pie and red velvet cake had an odd aftertaste. Still, their chicken and sides are what I keep coming back for. An EASY4 stars!

Pretty darn good. Not as cheap as you would think by the looks of the place but it’s pretty good. I love their corn nugget things, they could be a bit cheaper for what you get but they are yum yum! Pot pies could use more chicken and maybe offer a larger one?

This place doesn’t look like much, but you’d be pretty surprise at the food you get. It’s all about the chicken here, so we got a rotisserie combo and fried chicken combo and shared. We are big eaters, but this was good enough to keep us full for lunch. The fried chicken is skinless which is exactly my kind of chicken(I never eat the skin). Both types were juicy and pretty good. The sides were also really good. My favorite was the garlic mashed, for sure. All in all, I’d definitely come back for a quick bite. This place really doesn’t look like anything, but you’ll definitely be glad you came here to give it a shot.

Haven’t had chicken from here in ages but it brought back childhood memories of waiting for my grandpa to come home with a bucket of chicken Staff was friendly and service was quick A lot of other items to choose from after you get your meal It’s definitely not a cheap meal but very very tasty

No hip décor, no eating in, just awesome take-out food. I’ve been coming here at least once a month for over 30 years. The place looks about the same as it did when it first opened in 1940 except for the old photos of the place hung on the walls. The staff are friendly and work hard to get you out the door quickly. The food is always fresh and hot. The chicken is out of this world and the pieces quite large. The ribs are tender and messy; just the way I like them. There are plenty of sides to choose from. My favs are the garlic mashed potatoes, mac & cheese and the mashed cauliflower.

I love Zorns! They have fantastic food! The pot pies are a staple in our house! I buy 4 for dinner and at least 4 more frozen to keep for another day. The sides are amazing as well as their buckets and Mac and cheese. They have a full selection of cold cuts as well. They have great desserts and you can pick up breads and extras while you are there. Their side dishes are fantastic. I highly recommend this store! Quality food!

Mmmm mmm mmmmmmm! Please excuse me, I’m still licking my fingers as I write this. I’ve lived in Farmingdale a long time and have never been here. I happened to take a chance on my way home from all the good things I’ve heard. This was 10 minutes before closing time and I couldn’t believe how fresh tasting everything i ordered still was! Every employee there was extremely helpful, with a smile on their face. I ordered the ½ chicken southern fried style(4 pieces mix of white and dark meat). The chicken was super crispy outside and RIDICULOUSLY juicy inside. This is not a place that I would call healthy, so don’t go there expecting that(although they do have an array of pre made salads and wraps available). After all, they’re famous for their fried chicken. Along with the chicken you get a choice of two sides which I chose the Mac n cheese alon with the sweet potatoes. Boy am I glad I did. This was a hearty, down south, soul food kind of meal. The kind you change into sweatpants for. On my way to the register, an extremely nice lady working there, pointed out to me that they just started making their own homemade ice cream, so I grabbed up a quart of their chocolate option. RICH, CREAMY, FANTASTIC!!! Stop reading and go eat when you want a delicious meal.

I am surprised people are complaining about this place. Yes it is comfort food and that means there is fat in it and a lot of calories. I have been coming here for decades. Their salads are crisp, fresh and delicious, The cold cuts are freshly sliced to your liking and their prices are comparable with the local grocer, their soups are piping hot with a delicious home-cooked appeal to them. I actually joined several colleagues and purchased their«thanksgiving turkey dinner for my family» WOW! WOW and more wow. Was I happy about standing in the cold, being told they«were giving out hot cocoa» etc etc no more… parking was directed by many people as the parking lot is jammed packed with people who are in a rush to eat, rush to obtain their dinner and well. welcome to the public when it comes to food. This place is AWESOME although there were crowds, no hot cocoa and I was outside in a tent pretty cold… I knew It would be a great dinner and it was. They give you ample selections, many pies, gluten free options, cornbread and vegetables that are cooked to perfection only needing to warm up to service the feast. We chose string beans, macaroni and cheese, masked cauliflower, small potato, turkey, stuffing and received an apple and pumpkin pie. We also noticed they have«slices» of pie by the front check out case that look awesome but with n the new year close I dint get any. Wish I did. A must try at this Long Island favorite. PS Sometimes you can please everybody and this place pleases our palates year after year after year as I have a larger waist to show for it…

I ordered food for christmas eve this year I have to say it was incredible. I ordered the gourmet sandwiches and chicken francias with pasta. The sandwiches were so fresh, the tri color pasta so good and the chicken francias was so tender you did not need a knife. If you are looking for great catering this is your place. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thanks zorn

I can eat maybe one meal of this food, but by the end of it I feel sick of eating it, and never finish the rest of what I bought and it goes to waste. I finally used up all my gift certificates for this place, so yay, I never have to go there again!

For some reason, we don’t have Zorn’s often but when we do I am always excited. It is comfort food at its best. It puts an instant smile on my face. That being said, I’m not sure why this location’s quality is not consistent with others. I’ve been here 3 times and the food has been terrible. I won’t do it again. They striked out. I can no longer give them a pass. The fried chicken was so oily it made me sick. The roasted potatoes were dry and hard to swallow. The corn was tasteless. Everything I have come to love from Zorn’s at other locations, this one does not live up to at all. You can tell they are cutting corners here. Do yourself a favor and drive to the next location.

Went here for take out a few weeks ago and was totally disappointed. Years ago the chicken was well done, tender and juicy. I asked for a whole chicken, cut up. What I got was random pieces of chicken, three legs, one half breast, thighs, wings. Back in the day they would cut the chicken up front so you knew what you were getting. I don’t want random pieces of chicken. The chicken was somewhat chewy and dry. The sides were average, the mac & cheese was globbed with Velveeta or some other artificially tasting cheese. This was my last trip to Zorns. With Costco roasting delicious chickens for about $ 5, why pay $ 10. for chewy random pieces of chicken!

I’ve been going there for years. However, the last 3 times I went there I was most dissatisfied. The cutlets in the Chicken Francaise were extremely fat. (3″ thick). They used to be thin. Their Chicken Salad had bone & grizzle in it. I used to love their Chicken Salad. The Rice Pudding tasted sour.

My coworkers and I ordered a bunch of Zorn’s for lunch one day for the office. We called ahead and they were great over the phone when we ordered. We got two buckets of chicken(all breast meat) and two large sides. When we went to pick it up, we were pleased to find a special for a free small side with any order over $ 20 when we checked in on Unilocal(woohoo!) so we got a small side of creamed spinach with out already selected Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. We also picked up an apple pie for our bosses birthday. The store itself is really cute, I love how they make it feel like a little marketplace inside. There were tons of prepacked foods to go along with any hot food you might get as well. Great for a quick, weeknight meal if you’re crunched for time. We took the food back to the office to eat. The Chicken was excellent. Not too dry, and excellently seasoned on the outside. The Mashed potatoes were okay, nothing special, but good. Macaroni and cheese was DELICIOUS. I’ll compare it to Boston Market mac and cheese, but stepped up 5 notches! Creamed spinach was just what you’d expect. The apple pie was great too, you can’t go wrong with it, definitely recommend. I know Zorn’s is famous in the area but this was my first time ever having it and I was 100% pleased and satisfied, it definitely lived up to it’s expectations. I can’t wait for the next time I get to come back!

This place used to be very good and was an all time favorite. I was very disappointed with the food during my last few visits here. This place has changed a lot and the chicken does not taste good anymore at all. I now spend the extra half a mile to go to Boston Market down the block instead.

This landmark of Long Island chicken looks like it hasn’t been updated since 1965, and that’s fine. Everything in here is fantastic. You know how Taco Bell wishes it was Chipotle? Well, Boston Market wishes it was Zorn’s. Also, good luck getting one of their pies near the holidays, because they sell like hot cakes.

I have fond memories of zorns from my childhood. In fact, I remember when zorns had a chicken/turkey farm in the back for public view. Not sure if it’s still there, but now that I’m older & know what happens to those birds, I think I’ll pass. Just the smell of their southern fried chicken brings me back to the 80’s. However, you don’t need to be taken back by the aroma, just walk into the restaurant & not much has changed. In my opinion, that’s fine, because it’s all about the food. Zorn’s was Boston market even before Boston market was known as Boston chicken — say that 3x fast. The setup is similar: all the food behind glass where staff picks up what you point out. Here’s the rundown of items I usually pick up: The southern fried chicken: seasoning in the breading gives it a nice taste. Pieces can sometimes be dry, but the flavor makes up for it. The ribs: messy since they’re swimming in sauce. There doesn’t seem to be anything fancy with the preparation(ex: dry rubs, smokers). However, they have a great bbq flavor without being overly spicy. Definitely will satisfy a rib craving. Mac & cheese: definitely a must order. Pasta shells with a very creamy cheese sauce & very filling. Stuffing: good flavor with onions & celery. Some people like their stuffing dry, this stuffing almost has the consistency of mashed potatoes, which may/may not be a bad thing. Other sides which I haven’t tried include sweet potato & garlic mashed potatoes. Mashed cauliflower & an unusual choice — penne ala vodka. Usually I go to an Italian place for this dish, but other ppl seem to like it, so maybe I’ll give it a shot. At $ 30+ The price for a combo meal(ribs & chicken) seems a bit steep but you do get a lot of food. It’s described on the billboard as long islands take-out & they mean it — due to no dining area be ready to pick-up & run. Due to their closure of the east meadow location, zorns has become even more of a delicacie in my home. However, any time I’m in that part of Long Island(or sometimes no where close) I’ll make the trek to zorns.

Zorn’s used to be an amazing place. Huge portions which offset the higher meal costs. Unfortunately, they’ve done what most successful restaurants/food places do: they’ve started cutting corners to make more money by short changing the customer. They are sacrificing the quality of their past for more profit in their future. A year ago, it cost around $ 10 for a dinner meal. A stuffed chicken breast, or chicken cordon bleu used to be 3 meals for me. They also gave heaping sides. This past week my father and I went and we were given ‘lunch meal’ size containers for our dinner meal. I know that b/c the box had a sticker on it that said, ‘lunch meal.’ It was a smaller portion, and the price was $ 11/$ 12. This time around I was almost able to finish the entire chicken cordon bleu in one sitting, and my father chowed his stuffed chicken breast in one sitting. I can assure you, my appetite has not increased. As I said above, they have definitely shrunk their portion sizes significantly, making the prices not nearly as reasonable as they used to be. With that said, the food does still taste good, which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 star. Another area where they’re skimping?! On their pre-made chicken caesar salad! It looked beautiful in the case, so I picked that up too. It was a bit pricey, imo, at $ 7, but the chicken looked so appealing I thought, I’ll give it a try just once. When I opened the salad, I discovered it had no parmesan shavings at all. Not one speck of cheese. I’ve never had a caesar salad that hasn’t had parmesan shreds, or some kind of cheese on it, before. It was just a pile of lettuce and chicken. That isn’t a complete caesar salad. For $ 7, I would expect more from Zorn’s. Come on, guys… stop cheaping out already! It’s really disappointing that Zorn’s is cutting so many corners and bowing down to the mighty dollar, instead of committing to maintain the quality and service that built their customer base, and loyalty, in the first place!

It’s pretty 80’s all around when you walk in here, but the food is legit and it’s allll about the chicken(plus some BBQ). Seriously, when a place has been around cooking chicken since 1940, you better believe they know what they’re doing. Pick up a rotisserie or fried bird along with some sides and you’re in business. There are BBQ options(ribs, pork, sausage), but the standout will always be the bird. There’s a quick takeout section where you can get salads, sides, soups and wraps. Since the chicken made in house is in all of the above, they are excellent. Seriously, I’ve never had better chicken in a soup or salad before(especially when I buy it from a little fridge of sides). Stop reading. Treat the fam(or yoursefl) to some juicy chicken tonight! Protip: it’s all takeout, so don’t be thinking you’re eating here

The only reason for the 1 star was the more than ample quantity of food. Ordered catered food for 8 for Easter dinner. Order was incorrect — had to go over everything with 3 employees who kept telling me I had not ordered mashed potatoes and stuffing until one of them finally turned the order sheet over and discovered I had. I was overcharged 10.00 plus tax. Side dishes were lukewarm and unappetizing. The only item that was good was the spiral-sliced ham. Will never go back!

This is more like a grocery store… not a restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend anyone come here to actually EAT at the establishment… Unless you’d like to do it on a concrete slab that they have provided 8 lucky guests to relax in the parking lot… with the wind… The noise… It must be nice when it rains. The portions are out of control… on some food you wish you had a lot less of. Somebody on Unilocal called this the best fried chicken in the land… What a joke.

WOW… what a horrible horrible experience. This has got to be the first time that Unilocal has let me down!!! So after reading the reviews, I expected a foodgasm from the fried chicken. I expected hot, succulent juicy chicken to be served especially considering the price. Instead, what I got was lukewarm«fried chicken»(if you could call it that since they were skinless), that wasn’t even freshly fried. That’s right, I got RE-FRIED fried«chicken». There were 2 sides to the order… my son chose French fries which were RE-FRIED and the penne al la vodka was sickeningly sweet. Although the staff was friendly enough, when you first walk in, it seems more like a grocery store with an «oh by the way we sell ‘fried chicken’» type of feeling. There were no seats except for some patio tables out in the parking lot where the birds crap all over and the bees hover around the trash. I’ve seen this place packed from the road and was REALLY hoping to bring my wife to a new find, but was abysmally disappointed beyond belief. How this place received nearly a 5 star rating is beyond me. Obviously, I will never be coming back after such horrible food. Ugh…Yelp, don’t let me down again please!

Great chicken and large variety of tasty homemade sides to choose from. If you’re buying enough for a family of 5 expect to pay over 30 dollars. We got the 16 piece chicken that was have roasted half fried(so 8 pieces of each) with 4 sides and a side of cole slaw, came with gravy and came to about 40 dollars and change. The quality of the food is tasty and good, even better was their customer service. When coming home and realizing our order was wrong we called and went back, they were very quick to resolve the issue and make us happy-customer loyalty saved !
