Billy Lowe is hands-​down the best stylist I’ve ever gone to. He’s a magician with cut and color, and he’s so down-​to-​earth and personable. I have flat, fine, straight hair. My whole life I’ve hated going to salons, because the stylists looked at me with deep-​rooted dread, and I don’t mean locks. No one could ever make my hair behave — until I met Billy Lowe 10 years ago, and he knew exactly what cut would best frame my face. He knew exactly what colors to mix to make me look natural and feel great! I would walk out of the salon on a new high because of Billy Lowe. After I found him, I won’t go to anyone else

Billie Lowe is the most spectacular stylist EVER! I am so particular about my hair-​both color and cut and he made me look and feel so fabulous. Billie was so gracious while he gave me a new style. He pampered me while I was there and I just loved the experience. I went to see him the day before an important job interview. I felt so confident walking into that meeting– and I got the job!

First and most important, Billy gave me my best color ever. Those of you that color know that having a great color stylist is PRICELESS! I recently moved to LA from another big city, and finding the right stylist was tops on my list, obvi.
I heard about Billy from a friend, and went to see him shortly thereafter. His salon was clean and he was timely, two things that show to me that he cares about me as a client.
Billy nailed my color without a long diatribe or discussion. I’ve been to many other upscale salons where the stylists have wanted to talk endlessly about my color, and left it up to me to choose, which always left me a little nervous since I’m not the professional. I was pleased with my color before, it was fine and good, but Billy took it to another amazing level. He took a look at my roots and just knew what to do, and it turned out amazing, I love it! I cannot say enough good things about his talent in this area, hence this lengthy testimonial.
Second, and also extremely important, Billy is a genuine, charming person. He cares about his clients, and helping them look their best. He’s courteous, and professional too. I’ve seen him half a dozen times now, and he’s always been consistent. My thought is that you can put on a good dog and pony show once or twice, but if you’re not real it can’t go on forever. Well… Billy is the real deal.
Unfortunately, as much as I love and use Unilocal,I realize that a few bad reviews are par for the course for even the best businesses. Some people abuse it and we never really get to hear the other side of the story.
I can’t imagine anyone having a bad experience with Billy, he is all around amazing!

I’ve been going to Billy Lowe for my color for years now. Since I get my hair chemically straightened, it was important for me that he use products that don’t overburden my hair. The color he uses is gentle enough so that my hair doesn’t feel dry. I also wanted the color to be as close to my own (dark brown) and natural-​looking as possible and Billy matches it better than anyone. I’ve tried a couple of different colorists since moving to LA, but once I found Billy, I stopped looking.

For starters, I bought a Groupon deal to Billy Lowe Hair Studio and was super excited to go based off these great Unilocal reviews. I am new to LA so Unilocal has been my go-​to, especially when it comes to my hair.
Sadly, I have been VERY disappointed with the service by Billy himself. It was never mentioned in the Groupon that I was only going to be able to use it on certain days– I think my choices were Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. This wasnt the most convenient, but whatever I can live with that since I was using the Groupon. Then Billy told me that his ltest appointment was at 5:30pm. I nicely told him that I worked downtown and would do my best to get there at 5:30 but LA traffic is unpredictable so I could be a few minutes late. He told me to leave work early! Unlike some people I dont have the liberty to leave whenever and I thought that was a really rude response and was confused why he was so unwilling to be understanding of my situation. Regardless, I made the appointment.
I called Billy today to see if I could get my hair done in October and he told me that the salon had flooded so he wouldnt be able to get me into the salon in October– 3 weeks. This seemed strange and when I tried to make sure that he would be able to see me in November before the Groupon expired he told me that he was at the DMV and couldn’t talk to me and hung up.
Overall my experience before even going to the salon has been rude, short, and unprofessional. I will not even be going to see Billy anymore and although he might give a great haircut, he needs to work on his customer skills or not sign up for Groupon.

This was the worse haircut/​highlight I’ve ever gotten. Not to mention, extremely overpriced. I can’t believe this guy would even get celebrity clients… must be a PR lie. I paid over $ 150 for my haircut… so not worth it. It was uneven, a bad cut, the worse cut I’ve ever had. Going to Supercuts would’ve been better. On top of that his $ 150 barely there highlights were a job done from beauty school first year stylist. His highlights were also atrocious and faded faster than any of the other hihglights I’ve ever gotten. He gave me poor advice, tries to upsell, and is simply a VERY bad hair stylist. I would NEVER go back to him nor recommend anyone to him. On top of that, I found him to be very unfrielndly, cocky, and into his «blogs» that he really shouldn’t be writing than anything else. Another overpriced LA wanna be celebrity hairstylist.

His studio has a clean modern aesthetic and Billy himself is charming, gracious and stylish.
Groupon brought me here, and Billy gave me a fabulous cut and style without stinting on the service in any way. I especially liked that he didn’t pressure me to color, unlike the last stylist I went to.
The true test of a haircut for me is whether I can wash-​and-​wear without styling and blow drying. This do can hold its own without much effort. Of course, it looks ten times better when Billy gets his hands on my wet hair and blows it but sometimes a girl has to settle for what she can get.
In the meantime, I look forward to the day when I have done so many affirmations, I feel totally worthy of spending this much on my hair all the time.
