So of course 2 days before Christmas and 1 day before I travel I have a horrible sore, red, swollen, bleeding throat. I had the symptoms for a few days, but I work retail, and yeah — good luck trying to get a day off when you work retail on the week before Christmas. Today was my only off day so I hopped on the bus(es) and was down there when they opened at 9am. I was second in line and was promptly seen. Dr. Kim came in the room and he was very nice and professional. I liked how he started off with a handshake, some doctors don’t do that. Yes, I know — germs are icky; but I still consider it to be polite. He reviewed the nurses background information that she collected on me, went over my allergens, and made sure that everything in the computer was up to date. He took several minutes taking a look at all my symptoms, discussed what it might be — and what we could do, and then went to go check out the results of the rapid strep test. My test came back negative, but due to the fact that I’m traveling tomorrow, have lived off half a banana for two days, and was bringing up blood because my throat was still raw he wrote me a prescription for some penicillin. He faxed that over to my pharmacy, and also printed out some pages of tips and OTC medicines and non-medicine remedies that I could try(mostly pain relief; which I appreciate). He then took the time to go through the pages with me and explain how each medicine and the remedies could help me. Awesome guy!
