So my boyfriend took me here for my birthday and we both left completely dissatisfied to say the least… DINELA: We ordered off the Dine LA menu and both started off with the minestrone soup. The flavor was nice, however the conchiglie was undercooked and could have used a few more minutes. For the entrée, we both got the filet mignon medium rare and shrimp scampi with a side of broccoli, creamed spinach, and lobster mash potatoes(off the DineLA menu). The filet was extremely burnt on the outside and the inside was literally raw. My boyfriend and I couldn’t even finish the steak because it was difficult to chew and the taste was bland. The broccoli and creamed spinach had absolutely no seasoning as well. I constantly found myself sprinkling more salt with each bite. The only good part about the entrees was the shrimp scampi and the lobster mash potatoes(MUSTGET). Lastly, the dessert was delicious. The key lime pie was packed with flavor and probably the best I’ve tried. SERVICE: I want to add before I go on with my rant, we felt completely out of place being the youngest and only asian couple in the restaurant. The service was absolutely terrible beside a few of the waiters who weren’t even waiting OUR table. From the get go, we felt like we were belittled and Ed, our server was rude and abrupt. After paying for the meal, we noticed that our server did not return our change and we were suppose to get a good amount back. Another waiter helped us alert Ed, who ended up taking forever to count the money he owed us. Ed returns with our change and disrespectfully places the plate of money on our table with no apology. It’s either he does not know how to count money or felt that his service was good enough to pocket the change. A little taken back, we ask to speak to the manager where we confronted him if this is how his restaurant treats customers. The manager continued to explain to us that it was a misunderstanding and he would apologize on the servers behalf. If this was a misunderstanding, Ed should have personally apologized. The whole conversation seemed super insincere and felt as if the manager thought we were trying to get a comp meal(THISWASNOTTHECASE) We’ve been to better establishments such as Mastro’s, Lawry’s, Alexander’s Steakhouse etc. and have never been treated like this. Overall, the food was below average and the service terrible. You’re better off spending your money somewhere else.

We visited as tourists, fortunate that our concierge scored 7:15 reservations for us on a busy holiday weekend. The staff treated us like locals, finding a suitable alternative to avoid a jarring and offensive human fire alarm adjacent to our first table. Our server was excellent and the food was outstanding. The best pork chop I’ve ever had — thick, perfectly cooked and still on the bone. My wife had enough prime rib for three and it wasn’t even the largest cut available. She also thought it was the best she ever had. We flew home with leftovers. Beverly Hills has no shortage of top-flight restaurants. This is definitely right there.

Went last night for the Sunday night Prime Rib special — $ 57 for a huge HUGE prime rib, full baked potato, full veggie serving, the pop-over(yorkshire pudding). Was amazing!!! We had pounds of food to take home. Best part was when you join their email club they send you a $ 25 birthday coupon, so that paid for the fabulous Hendricks Gin cucumber slices and oversized martinis! Woo Hoo!

The bone in filet & martinis are superb here. I also love the decadent cheesecake they serve with chocolate sauce — divine. Our former Governor eats lunch here often with the city’s power elite but I try not to let it bother me.

We dined for lunch. We had a burger, the pot pie, and chicken piccata. It was very good, but the menu is not quite as extensive as I would like. It’s traditional fare, but done right. 1) The interior is reminiscent of a bank from the 1920s. It’s a pleasant place to be. 2) The chocolate cake is delicious. It actually changes consistency as you eat it. Don’t let this peculiar description deter you. It’s very good and it alone is worth the visit.

The original Grill on the Alley has a distinctive old-school vibe to it which I loved. Stopped in for lunch with a client(very much a business lunch kind of place) and enjoyed the delicious John Dory, cooked lightly breaded, and a shrimp cocktail. Service was great, seems like the kind of place where staff sticks around for years. Would definitely return when in the area.

As good as it gets! This place has no gimmicks My family has been coming here for years and the Grill on the Alley has NEVER disappointed. The staff is so attentive and friendly, and if you’re luck they will tell a darn good joke! The steaks, fish, seafood and other dishes are fresh and cooked to order. There are great sides like hash browned potatoes and creamed spinach. Everything is super old fashioned but really great. The grill is a true Beverly Hills, old school Los Angeles restaurant. P. S. There are great deserts like the chocolate layer cake and strawberry short cake(bisquick biscuits and cream… yum!) The crusty, warm sourdough bread and butter is awesome too!!!

Had a great dinner at The Grill tonight. I loved the Brick Chicken. My guests had crab cakes, steak tartare, and a fish dish. After dinner we ordered various coffee drinks as well as the hot fudge sundae which was big enough for everyone at the table. The service was incredible. Then again it always is. I would highly recommend The Grill On The Alley.

I have been here many times and always leave satisfied. The vibe is very old school and the room is beautiful. The service is always great with staff that’s been around for a while. The food is always good. The crab cakes, Cesar salad, Tuna tartare are great apps. The steaks, brick chicken and salmon are my go to entrees usually. Dessert is nothing to rave about but it is not bad.

My first time here. I had the John Dory(Fish) which was cooked to perfection. Our Waiter suggested I have the Spinach Mash Potatoes because the Baked Potato I ordered was unavailable. The Spinach Mash Potatoes were awesome! No salt or pepper needed. As a matter of fact my food was seasoned very well. The Sourdough Bread was served warm and crusty on the outside and soft in the middle just how I like it. I wasn’t able to eat all my food so I took it home. I’ve included a pic of my leftovers.

I came here regularly for years but moved from LA two years ago. Was in the area so stopped in for lunch. Wow how the quality of the food and service has deteriorated! Ordered a once popular Cobb salad; it was terrible; all iceberg lettuce with almost nothing else. A few lonesome pieces of chicken, virtually no bacon or egg or blue cheese. Just awful. The waiter tried and was good; the hostesses were arrogant and really acted like they did us a favor giving us a table without a reservation(and there were plenty of open tables). It seems like this once delightful popular eatery is just getting by on its former reputation. With so many good restaurants in the area I’m surprised they are still open. Too bad.

I’ve been here both for lunch and dinner. Having previously worked in NYC for many years, the lunch clientele is a little bit New Yorkish, mainly business people and lawyers in suits and ties. Not the usual laid back West Coast style… For dinner…, lots of senior citizens, grey haired style… And the food? Very traditional, fairly big portions, on the heavy side. However, very good if you enjoy that type of food; steaks, fried food, etc. But, not really my cup of tea…

Best crab cocktail I’ve had. Fantastic chicken under a brick– one of the juiciest chickens I’ve ever had if not the juiciest. Minor point but the cappuccino was a flat awful watery mess. But excellent food. No scene though

First time experience here for me, and I definitely was not disappointed. The Grill has excellent grub, prepared perfectly. In my party, we had steak(filet and NY), chops(pork and lamb) and Swordfish. The veggies that accompanied all plates(unless specified on the menu) tonight were broccoli florets, simply steamed and perfect. The fish came with a «Brussel Sprout hash.» Salads served to our party included Caesar and Wedge salads. The Caesar was perfect: chopped and tossed with fresh, crispy croutons and grated parmesan. Our server, Salvador, was professional, helpful, informative, obliging, upbeat and pleasant as any server could be. This place definitely has an old school feel about it, though I was surprised at how small the dining room area is. Not a lot of people can eat here at once and reservations are definitely needed, unless you want to take a chance at getting a seat at their bar, which probably has only about ten stools. It «feels» like a dressy place, and more than fifty percent of the customers were in business attire or sport coats, but others were wearing slacks, sport shirts and casual shoes. I personally would feel very comfortable in more casual attire here. If it is an intimate, quiet dining experience you desire, this is probably not your place. I’m not clear if it’s the acoustics of the space or if it is just loud customers(LOL), but it was so loud in there that everyone in my party had to raise their voices to be heard when speaking. If you are looking for a top quality steak and chop restaurant in Beverly Hills with little pretense, this is your place.

Is it just me or do all the waiters look like lab scientists? I swear a majority of them are elderly men with white lab coats on and some pens in their front pockets! I do see one woman though! It’s especially odd being in Beverly Hills in LA where I’m used to seeing all the waiters/waitresses young and really really good looking! I’m enjoying this place already! I sat at the bar with my friend who goes there often, in hopes that the service would be faster since my time that Wednesday night was limited. We didn’t order drinks even though it happy hour was ending since I had to drive, but we ordered plenty of food: BLUECHEESEFRIES This humongous serving of fried was drenched in blue cheese dressing. The first and second piece tasted absolutely amazing, but I was starting to feel gross as I ate more. This is something that would be good for a group. LOBSTERBISQUE — $ 10 The fresh ground pepper was optional, but I only asked because it made the bowl look nicer. We orders a cup but it came out in a bowl… large cup size? It was pretty good and standard soup with some tiny chunks on the bottom. So don’t expect much of the meat but o found it still quite delightful! CHICKENPOTPIE — $ 19.50 Ok, so far my impression of this place is that everything is served huge. I swear this pot pie was bigger than my face. However it wasn’t deep. So if you’re the type like me who loves the pastry part of a pot pie than the filling, this is it for you! Be careful those is is served super hot! You may want to crack it open to cool down… just start worth the crust. It may be because of the fries I ordered but this dish was quite bland :(however, there’s dark meat in this yay! But you know what, this was so good as leftovers! It didn’t taste as bland! I can see why people rave over this dish. I think it’s pricey but it can feed two people. The people there were absolutely wonderful. Although service wasn’t as fast as I hoped it would be, I had a wonderful time here!
