Lived up to expectation like in Tokyo. Will be back again.

A5 wagyu heaven is what Yazawa is! Every single thing was melt in your mouth, must come back for more type love ! We got the $ 120 omakase which comes with 3 types of wagyu appetizers, Harami skirt, Yazawa yaki, and 5 different types of other meats at 1 slice of each. The only difference between the $ 120 and the $ 100 omakase was the wagyu tartare had uni on top, versus the quail egg. Which I think we could have skipped. But literally every piece of meat was bursting with flavor, marbled perfectly, and grilled just right ! Also try their clay pot wagyu rice. Sooo delish! My mouth is seriously watering from writing this review. You can tell they have the highest standards with everything. From the grills, which were top notch and even changed after every plate, to the wooden chopsticks, which you can tell were of excellent quality. They took everything, big and small, into detail. Our server, Colin, was definitely half of the experience! So knowledgeable, personable, and made our dining experience here that much more tasteful & enjoyable. Ask for Colin if it’s your first time! He even had a business card he gave to us =O That is how legit they are.

The quality of wagyu at this restaurant is truly astounding. Having been to Japan and eaten quality wagyu, I can confidently say that Yazawa is definitely up to par. My boyfriend and I had the Omakase chefs course(note: if one person in your group wants Omakase, everyone must get it!) and it was delicious. The wagyu appetizer simply melted in your mouth, I particularly loved the tartar. Each and every meat had a intense marbling and a distinct and memorable flavor. It was definitely a splurge, but well worth it!

Had a very enjoyable Valentines dinner dining at Yazawa. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were taken care of. We forgot to bring our own portable high chair for the baby so we were expecting to hold the baby during dinner. But, wow — the server brought out an Inglesina hook on high chair(the same one we use) for baby to use and even set it up for us. we were so impressed. We were also afraid it wouldn’t be a «baby friendly» restaurant due to the yakiniku grill, but it was totally fine and baby was comfortable the whole time. Onto the food — we ordered the $ 100 omakase and every single meat dish was SO good. I can honestly say that I enjoyed Yazawa more than other yakiniku restaurants(ie. Totoraku). Also ordered some dishes a la carte. We started off with the kale spinach salad which was very tasty especially with the garlic and ponzu dressing. The garlic Japanese wagyu rice cooked in clay pot was a great filler and went well with the meat– very garlicky FYI. After every meat dish, a server would come to change the grill. I was surprised to see that they don’t use charcoal for yakiniku. The seating was comfortable, ambiance was nice, and service was beyond excellent. Parking is only metered/street, no valet option. Highly recommend. 5 stars!

So we have a party of 6. The food very small portion. Like a french stly. So we got 3 $ 160. 1 $ 120, 1 $ 140. Omakase. If u like a5 Japanese wagyu beef then get the $ 160. If u don’t like it that fatty then $ 120 will be good enough to enjoy. The total amount of meat I would say is around less then 10oz per person total or less… So if u eat small portion then it’s good or fill your self up with fried rice or other dishes. We order omakase Shitsu pepper. Hot… Soup. But more like stew. Pretty good. Garlic rice… pretty good. N we open a bottle of 2012 sassican red. $ 400. Very good. Cork is $ 30 n if your wine is on there list then it’s $ 50

When I heard that there was new restaurant that rivals totoraku, I knew I had to visit! Came in here with a party of 4, and we decided to order omakase to get the full experience. Omakase comes with 3 different appetizers and 5 cuts of meat. The restaurant itself is pretty small, it seats about 10 tables. However, there seems to be an upstairs but not sure if there is seating there. Yazawa got their name from their company– they have a farm of Yazawa cows and produce only A5 beef for consumption. They have around 12 restaurants in Asia and a few others around the world, and this is their first location in LA. To achieve A5, one must pass two rounds of testing– and if you get 1 point docked out of 10, that immediately lowers your rank to 4 instead of 5(the server was very educational). Since the restaurant has their own cows, their beef is never frozen. We literally eat it at the most fresh state you can get meat at. Yazawa has numerous types of beef that they offer, and we got to try many different parts. Appetizers– we started out with the wagyu carpaccio with Parmesan and truffle, beef tataki with a piece of ikura, and beef tartare with uni(& friends ordered egg instead). The beef was the most flavorful I’ve had it, and it was delicious! Quality was supreme, and it was the perfect start to our meal. We then got beef skirt and tongue– another amazing cut, as well as their Yazawa special which is a thin slice of beef that you dip in an egg soufflé. Literally melts in your mouth. This was my favorite dish of the night! At this point, our table thought we had no more meat as the server did not come for a really long time(and we got 5 pieces of meat), but thankfully, it was just the beginning of our meal! We then had front leg, back leg, neck, chuck, and rump. Everything was phenomenal– I had the most amazing beef dinner! The paired other meats with BBQ sauce and ponzu which added a nice touch. We also ordered the Yazawa fried rice, salad, and wagyu sushi on the side, and the wagyu sushi was another favorite of mine. The meat was thinly sliced and again melted in your mouth– it kind of tasted like toro but meat version! Fried rice and salad was good– it was a nice break from all the meat. Everything we had was fantastic– the food was amazing, the décor was nice and elegant, and the server was very amicable and friendly. He was a little on the slower side, but he definitely knew what he was doing and saying. Prices for what you get here was also very reasonable. I will most definitely be back! So glad that Cali now has a restaurant that is up to par to Japan’s meat.

You want a Japanese culinary beef experience like nothing before? Then you MUST come to this joint as it’s not going to be a secret any longer. And yes, splurge on the omakase because you will taste the best beef of your life here(and we’ve been to Japan so this is saying something)! And while folks like to compare this place to Totoraku(to which I’ve been), there is absolutely NOCOMPARISON. This place is better, in every respect. The space, the charm, the staff, and most especially, the BEEF. Colin, our waiter, was a gem and explained everything to us with enthusiasm and reverence. This is PRIMEBEEF with cuts that are never served in traditional steak houses. And he cooked several of our courses for us which, if you know me at all, Cici don’t like to cook her own food in a restaurant. That’s what I pay YOU for. Every slice of beef was tender and had its own distinct taste and texture. I marveled at how I could detect that given the fact that I tend to shove things into my mouth without giving it much thought. We also ordered the various kim chee and some rice; that, and some of their delicious Asahi beer from Japan(kinda like how Mexican Coke has it’s own distinct taste, Colin said Asahi beer from Japan is different from what we get here. All I know is that it was perfect with the beef). Now if you like your beef well-done, as in charred within an inch of it’s life, this joint ain’t for you. BUT if, like me, you worship at the feet of a beefy beefy god, and you know that beef is supposed to be eaten rare or at least medium rare, then you will enjoy your experience here. We did and I dream of coming back. But it does put quite a dent in your pocketbook so it won’t be a weekly outing. Until then, I’ll just close my eyes and imagine the sound of the sizzling meat and the tantalizing aroma, and just drool like some rabid dog who hasn’t eaten in a week. You know, my resting hungry face.

My foodie buddy took me here and we went for the $ 100 omakase. My friend also ordered a green salad, yazawa special rice served in hot clay pot and extra order of beef tongue. We were so stuffed that we skipped dessert! You can order your courses to be sauced or with salt and pepper. Personally for me, I like it with a little pepper and lemon juice. You can ask for some lemon wedges. Every course was amazingly tender or melted in your mouth like toro. My favorites included the beef tongue, yazawa-yaki dipped in beaten egg and the zabuton(chuck-eye). Food, service and value — 5 stars! Their toilet is awesome. The toilet lid automatically lifts up when you approach it and goes back down after you walk away. I also like the heated toilet seat and how clean it looks. Parking structure on N. Roxbury Dr and Santa Monica Blvd is free after 6pm. Read the signs.

Expensive but REALLY good wagu. I would definitely rec the omakase because everything else isn’t worth it. The only bad thing is that their omakase doesn’t come with any side dishes and the side dishes are a bit pricey– small plate of chilled grilled veggis for $ 10, yikes! They truly have the best meat I’ve ever tasted and some of it literally melts in your mouth. Worth the splurge to come and come quickly because I think this secret is going to spill soon. You can show up with no resos… for now. There’s also free meter parking in the structure behind the restaurant after 6 pm or if you go for lunch, there is free 2 hour parking all around the structures in Beverly Hills.

The ultimate beef and Japanese BBQ experience! Apparently the owner comes from Japan to LA to make and store the«secret» sauce once every couple of months. We had the highest level Omakase, which came with Château Briand(out of this world!) and a nice bottle of sake. The only regret was that, earlier during the day over the phone, we were told that they needed our table back in 2 hours for their next reservation, which made our otherwise perfect experience a bit rushed, especially given the price of the dinner. But we are planning on being back, and hopefully a bit more relaxed next time around…

A place you must DEF come try!!! Located in the rich part of la and right across the street from Crustacean. You can order omakase or a la carte but would make more sense to order omakase cuz you get to try a lot of different meats! There’s like 5 different kinds of omakase: 100, 120, 140, 160, and 180. The minimum of $ 100 has 3 raw beef appetizers and 5 different of cuts(4 pieces of beef tongue and skirt steak, then it’s just 2 slices of each meat after that because the quality gets better!) The more expensive omakases have uni. Omakase doesn’t come with any sides so I got the Yazawa salad(light and refreshing!) and garlic rice with wagyu beef in clay pot. Delicious! Tip: all meter parking here so I parked at Crustacean’s valet($ 10) to save me the time and walk!

A bargain in Beverly Hills? $ 100 omakase got me a trip around the A5 Wagyu world. They could probably get away with charging double in this neighborhood. Big thanks to Akiko H for her great review that lead us here. Yazawa certainly exceeded my expectations for an intimate evening with Japanese beef. Everything they brought to the table was a highlight. Even the garden salad. Even the white rice. Even the water. I joke. The water was average. Two things I’d love to relive again and again and again: «Yazawa — Yaki” — The ultra thinly sliced sirloin was grilled for 3 seconds, dipped into a foamy egg bath and then eaten immediately. Time… stood…still. The flavor was exceptional and the bath took it to another level of delicious. I am used to dipping meat into beaten raw eggs on occasions like this, but that never offered the consistency like the foam as it clung to every bit of the sirloin perfectly. It was a magical 30 seconds. Zabuton– The chuck-eye cut that resembled the Japanese cushion was the mic drop. The streaks of fat lining the pieces were stunning. Cooked only 5 seconds per side, my wife deemed it way too over the top fatty and was unable to finish her piece. Merry Christmas to me then! It was beyond beef. Unbeefeefable! One order of this was $ 52 a la carte so the omakase totally was the way to go. With portions being 1 – 2 slices per course, I wasn’t exactly full, but every bite was so damn rich and decadent that the idea of putting any food in my mouth afterwards seemed ridiculous. File this spot under my proposed new Unilocal restaurant subcategory: «Epic Beef».

Holy mother of god. I went omakase and loved every bit of it. It’s extremely pricey but worth every penny. I’ve been looking for a steakhouse with premium cuts and this checked every box. The sake glasses were a nice touch as well.

Beware Oyama-san(the owner of Totoraku), here comes Yazawa! Yazawa Meat is a huge chain store specializes in Wagyu-beef, they have steakhouse, hamburgers place, bento box station in Japan and this is their third overseas outlet besides Milan and Singapore. The décor looks very luxurious and has intimate feeling. My husband and I were frequent here when it used to be Bier Beisl and were shocked to see the huge difference in terms of furnishings of their new place. I was impressed by the level of service as well. The servers were very attentive and friendly. They would even cook the meat one slice by one slice for you at the table. We started the dinner off with seasoned sautéed vegetables which I enjoyed a lot.(I want the recipe for that dish!) We had omakase which includes three kinds of wagyu appetizers, beef tongue, harami, their famous Yazawa-Yaki(sirloin), and 5 other kinds of beef. It sounds a lot, but actually you only get one slice per one part, so if you are a big meat eater, it might not be enough, though. Among all different parts of the meat, the Yazawa beef was absolutely exquisite. It was one of the best meat I’ve ever eaten, it literally melts in your mouth! This establishment is definitely on the pricy side, but the whole experience was very satisfying. Be sure for coming back here again!

Can’t help it. Gotta do it. I am compelled to sing praises for Yazawa. The experience… the bomb. They can do no wrong. Delicious, Elegant, Cosmopolitan, Delicious, Professional, Sophisticated, and yes, Delicious. If you seek the truly best of what Japan has to offer regarding steak selections, save your money on that ticket to NRT. The real Tokyo, steakhouse experience has arrived: Yazawa. As for the big fans of Gyu-Kaku, which is a fun place, my humble recommendation would be to save 4 – 5 trips that you would make to our beloved, quaint spot, and venture to Yazawa. Go all out. Make it count. You will cherish the experience for the rest of your life.
