Food and atmosphere is stellar at Cygnet. Great variety on the menu, and you can’t go wrong whether it’s the salmon, chicken, steak or just a burger. Desserts are also quite yummy. It can get a bit crowded some nights but it’s the kind of place one would rarely(if ever) have anything other than an excellent meal.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. Came across this place because the nearby restaurant we wanted to go to had a long wait and we were hungry. Figured we’d give this place a try. We did not have a reservation but there were a few empty tables and the hostesses were very accommodating. Our server was excellent and the food was very good. Our two teenaged sons had burgers which were huge(they can be ordered in two different sizes) and cooked precisely to order. My husband had a pasta special that was very good and my poached salmon topped with a citrus cream sauce and truffle Parmesan risotto and asparagus on the side were delicious. The prices were quite good too. This is not a place to go if you’re in a rush — which we were not — and we’ll definitely go back.

First timer, had a fews minutes wait for seats at the bar on a Thursday night at 7pm. Place was small and cozy. Seating at bar was tight with dining room seating. The tables were almost against the chairs at the bar. Visited with two other ppl and started off with drinks. Two bartenders and one had a hard time making a mojito took three times and the other bartender finally made it and it was perfect. Ordered an appetizer of fried calamari, which i have to write was a white batter and flavorless. Wouldn’t order again or recommend. We then ordered a pizza(special of the day) not sure of name to share which was excellent and veal scallopini dinner. That too was good a little too much lemon, but still food. The funny part of the night is the bathroom. Not sure how that set up works with more than one person in it. very quirky!!! overall nice whole in the wall place in Beverly. not sure i would make the drive again from Wakefield, but if I lived closer i might venture again and sit in the dining room.

Most warm atmosphere(hence the 2 stars). I want to love this place. There are two problems:(1) the food is bad and(2) the service is unprofessional. Food: Had the crabcakes to start. They were burned on the outside, mealy on the inside and served with a gross chipotle aioli. I canceled my entrée. Service: Waited 5 min for the bartender to finish chatting with some regulars before being offered a drink. He poured my drink and then was replaced by a female bartender who spent the rest of the night complaining about Jim with the waitresses and generally gossiping with staff. Get a cook and some professional staff. Please.

My girlfriend took me here for my birthday and it was a rather enjoyable experience. The food was superb and the drinks were well above average. I really liked the meal, but I have to say that I wish they’d bring a basket of bread instead of offering everyone at the table a single slice. They also supplied us with hard butter, which is a big pet peeve of mine. You can’t spread hard butter! Other than that, I’d very much return to Cygnet and try some more of their tasty menu.

can’t say enough good things about this restaurant, loved everything about it. The food was first rate, the ambiance was perfect and the service, including the bartenders, was excellent. We went here before a show at the North shore music theater and it will be our go to spot anytime we are in Beverly

Tonight we had over cooked dry Halibut and a very ordinary veal scallopini. The service was very slow but friendly. Food here use to be good but now it is ordinary and over cooked. Prices remain on the expensive side. It continues to attract locals as it has a nice bar but food is not worth the price.

Sometimes it’s very good, sometimes it’s very bad. The food generally is good but the service can be atrocious. For food, the lobster salad with mango is great — just make sure you ask what market price is because they won’t tell you upfront. Veal chop is generally nice along with the pasta special. Good selection of oysters. Service — last time we were there the host was rude(the guy at the door basically being bizarrely sarcastic as we left?) and the waiters vary from super engaged and friendly to «broads» better suited for greasy spoons. The owner is often there but doesn’t seem super attentive. Hale street is the star dining establishment in town. Very popular, great service and food.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Cygnet the Memorial Day weekend. We had a truly wonderful, personalized experienced. The owner allowed us to pick out a few salads, entrees and dessert options a head of time so we could have a limited menu for our guests. The food is fantastic and all our guests agreed! We were able to be sated towards the back of the restaurant and it felt like we had our own private room! I also have to compliment the staff. All the servers were very attentive, friendly, and genuinely excited about our upcoming wedding! I would highly recommend Cygnet for a special occasion or date nigh. You will get a quality meal, reasonable prices, and excellent service. I live out of state but can’t wait to be back in Massachusetts to visit Cygnet again!

I walked into Cygnet last night with my wife at about 9pm, there was one other couple sitting at the bar settling up their bill, and they clearly knew the bartender. We sat on the other side and waited at least 5 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge us. The bartender watched us walk in and sit down, but never came over, or even acknowledged us by saying I’ll be with you in a moment as he was too busy tending to his friends. He was completely rude and inattentive. After I decided that I didn’t want to spend a dime in this place we got up and left. As we got to the door he yells over and says«is there something wrong?» Yes you ***hole, you suck at what you do for a living. It turned out to be a great miss as we went around the corner to Hale St and walked into a fun, busy, energetic scene. We got seats at a crowded bar, and the bartender was on us in 3 seconds with a smile… Cygnet you should take some notes.

Food — most excellent. The chicken on the menu has a boring description but it is mouth watering phenomenal. Drinks — most excellent. Ambiance — most excellent … super cozy. They’d get 5 stars but… The service … far from awesome. Bar service is slow and pretty frustrating, but not terrible. Not because they’re so busy making drinks, they just get caught up with other things behind the bar. Not the case across the board, there is one guy that’s pretty on top of it. We went there the other night however, sat at a table, and it felt like the staff was doing us a favor by being our server. A bit of an attitude. They don’t quite get that customers are guests. We asked for a water refill to one gal that wasn’t our waitress, and she actually wouldn’t give us a gracious refill, but left the room and eventually a bus-girl like gal came by and gave us water. Apparently taking a moment to give your guests a simple water was beneath her. We were far from impressed.

The chicken I had there… INSANE. Possibly the best chicken I’ve ever had in my life. Please check it out. And if you like cozy/intimate… This is still the place IMO.

Theres a french saying«you remember a bad restaurant by what you paid and a good restaurant by what you ate!» Cygnet is the latter. Its the most exquisite meal I’ve eaten recently. The presentation was superb, the waitress knowledgeable and attentive, the table setting– up market(love cloth napkins) and the ambiance for a monday night was delightfully serene-you could hear the conversation. Its located near Landmark School so its a perfect place to splurge and have a memorable meal!

The appetizer of grilled pears with blue cheese were fantastic. So often are the pears overcooked to the point where they are too mushy but these were just perfect. We had the pasta of the day which was pumpkin ravioli topped with braised short rib. The short rib was tender and full of flavor. The ravioli were cooked to perfection with a cream sauce that was the perfect consistency; not too thin while packing great flavor. Though I am not usually a fan of scallops, my date informed me that they were fantastic. I tried them for the first time but never developed a taste for them. I have to take her word that they were very good. For the main corse I have the pepper crusted sirloin. It was cooked to my liking(rate) and was quite tender. It was no filet but still quite savory. Desert was 4 types of sorbet. My favorite was the honey nectarine which still maintained that honey consistency even in sorbet form. The fig one I could take or leave. The coconut sorbet was flavorful while not being overly powerful as coconut can be at time. The last was cherry which was good, but played second fiddle to the others. Overall the service was spectacular. The waitstaff was very attentive to our needs. Several waitstaff came by during the evening to see how we were doing which was pleasant. The atmosphere is nice with the entire restaurant being relatively small. It wasn’t too noisy though so quote an enjoyable experience.

Overall really good dinning experience with amazingly delicious appetizers: oysters, duck spring rolls and this beef tenderloin that was outstanding. We then had spinach and chopped salads that were very good. Entrees were a miss, the halibut was over cooked(which they comped!) and the duck and pasta special sauce was odd(again, they comped!) but the chicken was excellent. Oh yes, and the chocolate cake dessert with praline ice cream is sooo good! Also, corn risotto was excellent as well. Host, Mark was fantastic as was our wonderful waitress Megan. Honestly, we did not expect the comped meals but greatly appreciated it and would come back again soon. I think that the chef just overcooked the halibut in error and the restaurant was excellent in handling this situation.

Our eating group travels to different restaurants each month to experience fine cuisine throughout Boston and the suburbs. Tonight’s visit was at Cygnet in Beverly Farms. There are seven of us and we try to experience all different kinds of foods. Each member of the group chooses for their particular month. We each had different appetizers, entrees desserts and drinks. Each of us complimented the service, timeliness of the servings, preparation, taste and freshness. Steaks were well proportioned, and cooked to specific degrees(rare, medium, etc.). I had the«famous hamburger» and was disappointed in the flavor. none and arrived well done. I Ordered medium rare. I was the only one complaining about the entrée. The drinks were another story. I normally only have one.(one’s enough)! I had two martinis which didn’t even give me a buzz. The prices are a little less than Boston and there’s sufficient on street parking. I wouldn’t return. The others say the jury is still out.

Three out of three meals were served cold. Excited when I saw veal on the menu. Some kind of mystery meat. Certainly not veal. Chicken serving size three pieces, each about the size of a tablespoon. Made reservations. While waiting to speak patron from bar came running up to front end. Cut immediately in front of our group to be certain they had preference on choice of table Most disappointing was fact that host allowed person to impose after our wait. Been there 3 times. First visit tried to put us by rest room even though there were empty tables. Seems like a nice neighborhood atmosphere. But not sure ever going back.

Cygnet should take a swan dive into reality! Too trendy and trying too hard to be something it isn’t: The restaurant’s ambiance is forced. Bar service is average to below average. Food is overpriced. Parking is minimal. Many diners are click-y, having come from about a 1-mile radius. One can do much better in the Beverly/Salem area. Clearly, this joint is not a destination eatery.
