I loved this place. The blueberry homemade muffin was amazing. The toast, which is also homemade was a nice surprise. The café has such a homey feeling. The staff are so hospitable. They make you feel so welcomed. Highly recommended.

Very cute place. We loved it and our food was super great. It tasted like something my grandma would make-who is an excellent cook. Cozy and casual.

This place is adorable and great for a quick, in-between yardsaling on a Saturday morning. However, my Eggs Benny was very overcooked and my boyfriend’s Buffalo wrap kept falling apart. He also said the buffalo sauce was basically ketchup. Our brunch cost $ 25 which is expensive for the quality we were served. I’d give it another try, but only for a baked good or something because the prepared meals aren’t satisfactory.

I frequent the Ryal Side Side café. I usually get their omelettes, but this time, I noticed lobster on the menu. I ordered a BLT with lobster on it, they obliged, and it was great! We will be back soon!

This place has quickly become our Sunday breakfast spot! Friendly and layed back, it reminds me of my old favorite spots in San Diego. It offers all the usual breakfast favorites plus delicious serve-yourself hot and iced coffee! We’ve enjoyed everything from the chocolate chip pancakes to the delicious breakfast wraps. The toast they serve is this thick cut homemade bread, which is an added bonus to your meal! There are magazines and newspapers for the adults, and lots of games and coloring supplies for kids. The staff and owners are very welcoming — I can’t wait for summer so we can bring our dog and sit outside!

love your restaurant! great local place — just a bit unhappy to use plastic plate that goes in a landfill… does beverly offer a recycling program? Can you buy biodegradable plates? otherwise 5 star place!

We were regulars at the Ryal Side Café when we lived just down the street in Beverly. We moved away about two years ago and after trying several more local places, we have ended up driving back to Beverly on a regular basis to enjoy this great gem of a restaurant on Bridge Street in Beverly. It is worth the ride and here is why. You will get the most delicious and a perfectly cooked pancake! Then you can put real maple syrup on, if that is you desire. The poached eggs are excellent and most dishes come with homemade spring-wheat bread that is outstanding. Sometimes it is hard not to add their homemade blueberry muffin and if you have it grilled, well, just fantastic! Everyone here is extremely friendly and provides good service, often taking time to chat and catch up on recent events. Oh by the way, the coffee is great and available as soon as you walk in the door. Just a couple more tidbits … The owner has a nice outdoor area during the summer and places a bowl of water there for your dog. So this is very inviting to us as we usually have our little ‘sato’ in the car. There are places to hook-up the leash while one of us goes in to order and then we sit outside to enjoy our breakfast together. You won’t be disappointed and you most likely will end up going back to the Ryal Side Café, no matter where you live.

Worst breakfast restaurant I have tried on the North Shore. Serve your own coffee, paper plates, plastic forks, place order at counter, long wait for order over ½ hr. Didn’t like the home fries & grilled English muffin was soaked & soggy with butter.

Depending on which direction I am headed in; this place is typically on my way home from the gym. Not sure why it has taken me so long to pop in but I am glad that I finally decided to do so. I have had a lot of trouble getting good service as of late so to finally encounter friendly staff and some good food was glorious. Still a hot mess from the gym the no frills casual atmosphere was ideal and it was actually a beautiful day so we sat outside on the picnic tables. Ordered a couple omelets at the counter and just relaxed in the sunshine. I am a coffee addict so this place wins my heart twice; once for having excellent coffee and second for the coffee being self serve… no waiting for someone with the pot to come around for a refill! When our food was ready they delivered it to us at our table. The food was great, cooked perfectly, yummy crispy bacon, excellent sourdough buttered toast and it was as we ordered it! It is what it is and to me it exceeded expectations. As mentioned in other posts — at least stop in for a coffee; the pastries look delicious and just say hello to the friendly and welcoming staff.

Best breakfast sandwich on the north shore. Why would anyone go to a fast food place when you can get real beacon & eggs? The muffins are to die for. I always get an extra to take home. The coffee is 100 times better than DD. Don’t miss this place. Very comfortable atmosphere. Clean as a whistle inside and out. A real gem!!! Don’t be put off by other reviews. Sometimes on the weekends it’s real busy and it’s a small place. Worth the wait. Some people are just too fussy and don’t know a good thing when they eat it. Give it a try. Very nice owner.

Hands down, the best chicken salad sandwich I’ve ever had. It’s not your usual run-of-the-mill chicken and mayo which is boring and blah. It’s sweet, has grapes in it, and all sorts of yummy seasoning. And to top it off, the homemade bread it comes on is phenomenal. The owner is super nice and does all the cooking herself. Awesome little spot, she does a great job.

I want this place to be great, and it sometimes is. However the dining experience leaves something to be desired with it’s uncomfortable chairs and paper plates and plastic utensils! Their hours are only 7−2pm(sometimes closed earlier) and only open 3 – 4 days per week in the winter which I find ridiculous. The food is hit or miss. When it’s good. its REALLY good. When it’s not, it’s usually burnt or under cooked. I think it depends on whose in the kitchen, not sure though, it’s my only explanation for such a drastic difference in the food. And they serve amazing homemade texas toast and certain times I’ve been there the french toast is incredible. Other times its burnt or the eggs are super runny and disgusting. The coffee while self-serve is easily the best in Beverly. their iced coffee is AMAZING… not sure how they make it, but it is great coffee. It’s really dark and strong. The cups are old school styrofoam — which is kinda.bleh. It seems a lot of people do take out there, probably because they want to eat on real plates and silver utensils! EDIT: re: food quality. Today I just ordered a couple of pancakes for pickup. I arrived and they were done, no one was waiting, the place was not busy at all. I go home put my pancakes on a real plate and on one side they both are totally burnt. Completely ridiculous. Do they think burnt food tastes good? reducing a whole star.

Can’t say enough good things about this café! I found it while driving by on my way to work at the Cummings Center in Beverly. If you remember Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins, well Ryal Side Café’s are better. The homemade bread toasted with scrambled eggs is so good, I find myself thinking about the next time I can go back. No matter what you get, it is homemade, fresh, and delicious, give it a try. We are so lucky to have local businesses in the community.

Ryal Side Café is a small breakfast spot in Beverly. You seat yourself when you walk, and order at the counter(don’t have to pay a tip). The menu is small, but pretty good, and I ordered an egg white omelette with bacon and American cheese, with home fries(well done) of course. The omelette was very thin, just how I like it, and good too. Good egg to cheese ratio, and the bacon tasted great. I give them credit for trying to get the home fries right, but despite their efforts they weren’t great. They weren’t undercooked or soggy, they actually were well done. But they were cooked too long and turned rubbery. They tasted ok though. The toast they use was good, though very thick, too thick for my liking. My girlfriend loved the toast though. All in all not a bad spot. Our two omelettes with home fries and two drinks came to 16 $ and change, which is a good deal. I’d go back for another omelette.

I love having breakfast here, the ladies who run the place are very friendly and the tables out front where I sit are nice & clean. I always have a side of well done bacon & whatever tidbits my humans feel like sharing from their ample breakfasts. The female one lets me try nearly everything & I have to confirm what other reviewers have already said, the homemade bread makes excellent toast, it has a brioche like texture & is delicious with butter & marmalade. She also usually has the Eggs Benedict & although I have only just sampled a little of the Hollandaise sauce I thought the hint of lemon was perfect but the poached eggs were about a minute too firm for my liking. My male human eats everything very quickly & shares little, but I have tried his hash & homefries & found them both to be excellent. I don’t know what WiFi is but if it’s free I’m all for it & the paper plates & plastic utensils are fine as well, I eat off the floor so have little understanding of what are you complaining about! A great place for dogs & their humans to enjoy breakfast & brunch, I give it 4 stars & highly recommend going here.

Worst place I have ever had breakfast on the Northshore. Got breakfast here and got a runny ham and cheese omellette in which the ham was bad, undercooked homefries when I asked for well done, and as for their homemade bread… You get one piece of toast. Buy don’t worry the price was reasonable… nine bucks!!! I ended up going home to make my own breakfast. One person was working in an empty restaurant(no surprise) and I waited twenty mins. If I zero stars were possible this place would get it. Awful. Make me something I cannot make at home.

This was a cozy place along Bridge street. There was one person working here, and we were the only ones for breakfast today. The food was amazing! My fiancé had a grilled cheese, and I had a scramble on bread. The homemade bread was so good! Thickly cut, it had a wonderful flavor and toasted texture. Home fries were tasty too! Too bad the plates and silverware were plastic, but it’s a way to make it with less staff. Love the bike rack! Highly recommended.

Cute, cozy and quiet. Plenty of friendly local characters chowing down with books and coffee. Cafeteria style ordering, cash only and slightly pricier than other breakfast places. All the local cash only businesses should consider getting a square reader and an iPad– it lets them accept credit cards for a low fee. I got the Irish eggs benedict, they were awesome. The home fries are great– baked not fried so not at all greasy. The coffee is strong and prepared well. Yay for self serve bottomless cups of coffee. Thank goodness for a café that knows how to clean their brewers and press pots. The toast is awesome. Homemade bread sliced super thick and buttered. The food is served on plastic plates with plastic utensils. I considered docking them a star for this becuase I hate eating off plastic. Also– free WiFi. A couple of the reviewers mentioned 420 stickers. I looked all over for them and saw none. I did notice plenty of rainbow flag stuff. If people are thinking that rainbow flags are pot references, they are clearly morons and should be banned from the internet and perhaps even life.

Came here for breakfast for the first time the other day. I will definitely be back. The place is so cute and cozy, you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. The owners and patrons alike are friendly and pleasant. They didn’t rush us at all even when we sipped our coffee and chatted for a while after we ate. Because it’s such a small place, I was surprised that they had quite a few different flavored coffees. For food I had a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on a croissant which was excellent. My fiancé had some kind of omelet which was also quite tasty. The only negatives are that it’s definitely on the pricy side as far as breakfast goes and you are served with plastic plates and silverware. I can understand if you are eating outside in the summer, but inside I’d definitely prefer to eat on real plates. Also, not very environmentally friendly!
