We recently transition from a kid hair salon to a barber shop for our son. I was a bit apprehensive about a little boy going to a barber shop. I’ve heard & read horror stories about loose lips, and tall tales any mother would be embarrassed to hear. This place is far from that. The barbers are friendly & do an excellent job. They are very patient, even with a squirming little boy. The hair cuts were both spot on & exactly what I had asked for. I’m 100% pleased & will keep on taking my little guy here.

Let me say this first: the haircut I got here was great. The barber suggested I do something different with my hair and when he cut it I really liked it. So why two stars? Let me explain. When I go to the barber, it’s about more than a haircut. It’s about the experience. I want somewhere I can take my son. A barber shop is one of those places where you learn to become a man. This barber shop is everything I want to avoid. While I was there getting my cut the barbers where swearing relentlessly at each other, gambling, one of my barbers friends even came in and he stopped cutting my hair while they talked about a girl in a degrading and detailed way that the other guy had a one night stand with… All this while there were young kids in the shop! Don’t get me wrong, good banter, gambling and relationships with women are all great things, but the extent to which these things were negatively put on display at this barbershop was too much. They do have nice couches and a tv, but this can be found at a lot of other places without the negative atmosphere. If you want as great a hair cut in Beverly, from a group of barbers who are kind, funny and create that classic barber atmosphere, go to Mower’s on Cabot Street. You’ll walk out of there with the exact same quality of cut, for similar prices, and feeling less like you just walked out of a shameful 3 day bender in a building with no windows

As a barber for the past thirty years I can be very critical of the industry. Now that I no longer cut hair I started shaving my own head, of course that gets old very fast. So I tried the barbers edge. Very professional, very detail oriented. Eric was my barber and did a super job. Get a cut here they are the best!

Now that I’ve switched from visiting beauty salons to barber shops I find myself wanting to test them all out. The Barber’s Edge is in my ‘hood and sits on the«cursed» corner that has housed a variety of sandwich and pizza places over the last 8 or so years. The interior’s big windows highlight the wood floor and warm wood of the stations. The back of the long shop features a couch around a TV as a comfortable waiting area. It’s clean and comfortable. They weren’t busy so I was seen immediately. Eric and I chatted about what I was looking for– what I referred to as that«silly hipster hair cut with the shaved sides.» He immediately knew what I was talking about and set into getting the specs of what I did and did not want. That done, he set into cutting my hair. Chit chat was pleasant and he routinely checked in with how I liked the cut. I appreciated this, a lot. I decided to go with a shaved part. This was done carefully and precisely. To clean up the edges he finished with a straight razor., which having never had done before, was a really odd feeling but damn does it look sharp. After the cut was finished Eric wrapped my head in a hot towel. Which I have to say, was as relaxing as the one thing I miss at the hair salon– the washing of my hair. The hot towel and head massage was so relaxing and something I’ve never experienced. It was awesome. Finally, some gel smoothed in an a touch with the brush and comb, stray hairs removed. Dare I say it? Eric’s cutting of my hair is damn fine. I’m super happy with my silly hipster haircut. Obviously, I have trouble when it comes to monogamy with my barbershop, but this place is so close to home and I got such awesome treatment I’ll be back again. Cost for this treatment was $ 16. I’m not sure if it’s cash only or not, but I came prepared either way.

Love this place. Talented barbers(I’ve seen all but one to date), Horell the owner is of old school talent, tell him how you want your haircut or let him suggest, you can’t go wrong. Hot lather straight edge shave, warm towels. I’m amazed how reasonable his prices are given all the extra touches they do. Shop has a big screen tv, coffee, water, couches, leather chairs etc. making any wait painless. So glad I found him.

Needed a haircut and did not feel like waiting at sportsman so I stopped in. This place just opened so I gave it a try. Very friendly and told the barber what I wanted and he went to work. Very fast and did a great job and reasonable price. Just found my new barber.

The owner, Horell, has been cutting my hair for the past several years. I’m picky about my barber and Horell doesn’t disappoint. His attention to detail is great and he executes an array of hairstyles flawlessly. His shop is located directly across from the Pickled Onion and they’ll even reimburse your parking meter fees if you can’t find parking off of Rantoul. Highly recommended!
