A fantastic place for anyone with even a passing interest in board games. So many to choose from and there’s something for everyone. All the staff have been fantastic every time, attentive and helpful. The food is generally simple, but tasty. Just don’t expect anything you couldn’t make at home.

This is a new go to place for me! Great for dates, great for a family game night, or a bunch of friends. There are so many games, all the classics, educational games, new games… anything in between. Trivial pursuit with a whole table of friends or two friends playing risk for 5 hours you still only pay $ 5! They have a small food menu featuring Paninis. Also Gelato and cookies and popcorn(remind them easy on the butter). The last time I was there they told me they were getting a liquor license soon for Craft beers etc which sounds like a great addition. Because, like myself, you won’t be able to find the parking it is behind the back of the building. A little tricky to find. I can’t wait to go back with different groups/dates. My 5 and 7 year old loved it.

Gluten Free fun for the whole family! First, this place has a ton of games for all ages. We were a group of 1 adult and 3 teens ages 12 to 15. We found 3 different games we enjoyed and had some belly busting laugher when we played Fun Employed(with the not so kid appropriate cards removed.) We also met another dad and son who taught us to play Ticket to Ride. The Castle also offers snacks and sandwiches. We started with cinnamon popcorn for $ 5 but with unlimited refills. I think we had at least 5 bowls! Everyone in our group ordered a panini. These come with chips and a variety of filings, cheese of course. They also have sweet paninis. They offer all of their sandwiches on Udi’s Gluten Free bread and have a panini press just for GF orders. We had one order of nutella with banana panini on gluten free bread. They also offer an assortment of nonalcoholic drinks. It cost $ 5 per person to play.

After hearing about this thing called a boardgame café I had to check it out. I got the Castle hot chocolate latte, with cinnamon and cayenne pepper. It was awesome. The Buffalo Chx panini hit the spot. Then we played a couple games of Codenames with a lovely couple from out of town. We combined our groups while both pairs were deciding on a game. The game library has some gems, some classics and pleasant surprises I didn’t expect to find.

This place is awesome. what a cool concept to serve ‘noms and drinks with unlimited board games. I went with the bf to try out just the food, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. It was empty on a Sunday afternoon but it was nice to sit by the window and have the place mostly to ourselves. Free refills on fountain drinks and hot coffee. we ordered the chicken caprese sandwich with honey mustard instead of pesto, and the chicken bacon ranch panini. very affordable. The breadsticks appetizer with all pepper jack and no mozzarella had beautiful, smoky flavor. I also ordered the banangram which would’ve tasted better as a crêpe rather than panini. Next time I go, I’ll pay the $ 5 per person to play the boardgames and $ 5 for unlimited popcorn! They have basic games like childhood Pretty, Pretty Princess(which brought a tear to my eyes) as well as super geeky role playing games. I’d expect a place like this to be in hip Davis square, not in boring Beverly, but I’m so glad we have something like this in the boring suburbs now! I did expect the floors and booth to be a little cleaner seeing as how slow it was. A good wipedown and sweep would have picked up the popcorn lying on the ground. Parking was shitty and required a couple loops around the side streets. It said there was parking in rear, but we couldn’t find anything in the rear marked as being for that business.

This place is amazing and I wish I had something like it in my home town growing up! There are SOOOO many games, easily color coded to difficulty/time. Got to try new games and some childhood classics. And the staff is super friendly and helpful explaining rules to a new game. And the food was great too! 100% will be going back here again!

My husband LOVES board games and we had a lot of fun here. We stayed for hours. Looking very forward to the beer and wine license and we’ll definitely be back. Great game selection!

This is such a great idea! Board games, yummy snacks, delicious drinks and a fun atmosphere. I was a little bummed they did not have their cookie selection, but the chai and white chocolate raspberry mocha were delectable. The popcorn smelled wonderful and hot cocoa looked fabulous. We will definitely be back! It would be nice if they had their liquor license, but it is not essential at a place like this. Amazing board game selection!

The Castle provides a much needed answer for those seeking an alternative to the usual«date night» options. It is equally brilliant at hosting large groups of pals that enjoy tasty snacks, a plethora of games, and a hospitable atmosphere. We have enjoyed our visits from day one and look forward to many more trips! The hot chocolate is a treat! Also… you can’t beat unlimited popcorn!

I had to visit the Castle twice to get my fill on a weekend trip to Beverly. I knew it was going to be awesome from the start, and then it exceeded my expectations. I had a sweet and delicious Nutella latte, as well as pretzel bites(I died and came back to life and ordered them again the next day… that good). I also had gelato, and played a riveting game of Don’t Break the Ice on a full tummy. I would come here all the time if I lived nearby. They have a great game selection, and it’s a unique way to spend some time with friends, on a date, or as a family.

Great selection of games and well categorized. Would love to get out a bit more to try some heavier games. The owners are very nice. $ 5 entry for the entire day is very reasonable. Haven’t tried any food yet, but most likely will try something next time.

Amazing board game selection, tasty food and drinks(try the bottomless popcorn), Dr. Pepper on tap, and super friendly service. $ 5 for unlimited gaming is an amazing deal. And there’s free parking in the back!

I think the Castle Café is very original in its idea of combining cafes with board games. You would think these two things have been mashed up before in a business model, but it surprising to find that there aren’t a lot of board game cafes out there. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a fun night out and good coffee!

Stopped by with my girlfriend a couple of weeks back and we stayed for over 3 hours. The only reason we let was because we had stuff planned, otherwise we could e spent far more time. The selection of games is expansive and ranges from simple to complex, but it was very entertaining. We plan on visiting again every so often, maybe once every 2 – 3 months. We didn’t have much because we are there for the games, but the drinks and food weren’t bad either. $ 22 total for two for 3+ hours of entertainment isn’t bad at all.

It is SO refreshing to finally have a place on the North Shore where you can meet up with a group of friends to play games for hours, and grab some great food and drinks while you’re there. I love that they like to «spice up» traditional fare like grilled cheese, hot chocolate(LOVE the«Castle»), and popcorn with optional spicy toppings. What can I say, I like to eat stuff that registers on the Scoville scale. Besides all that, though, my favorite thing about the Castle is that it isn’t JUST a place with tables where you can game. It’s also a place where you can discover something entirely new, and the staff is awesome at introducing you to something you’ve never played before and giving you the opportunity to really dig in to it. For me, that’s like giving me one of the things I like most about going to a gaming convention like PAX East, but allowing it to happen all year long. Priceless!

Great Saturday gaming night with the kids. We decided to forgo a usual night in front of the TV and check out what The Castle had to offer. We live just down the street. The staff was very helpful explaining the sticker system of game difficulty and we chose Family Edition of Settlers of Catan. We have a new copy at home and this offered a great environment to learn. As we sought to figure out how to play the game we did notice a lag in someone coming to take our order but we were deep in game — learning mode and that might have way laid anyone from approaching us. However the kids asked several times when their order was going to be taken. They were psyched by the options. The kids ordered Gelato — mixing up flavors was an option, my partner had a gourmet cocoa with cayane and I went with a chocolate & banana paninni with a soy latte. The food was great — no complaints. My 7yr old even had a bit of the cocoa and enjoyed it. About an hour or so into the game we ordered a round of waters and a popcorn. We could have easily ordered more. I was nervous at how the young adults & college kids around us might react to my kids’ antics, overehthusiasm, rules lawyering and accusations of cheating. All we got were sly smiles and knowing, pleased glances. For 2 kids and 2 adults, the bill was the cost of a good dinner but worth it. I can easily see how this would be a great place for a group of gamer friends — of any age — planning to split the cost. Great snacks and HUNDREDSOF great games to chose from — a cross between a hobby store and convention game room. Whether you are on the North Shore or in Boston Metro, it’s worth the hang out. Especially if your friends are scattered.

The concept of a game café is cool, and $ 5 entrance isn’t bad. The selection of games is quite large, and they rate the games based on level of difficulty. A drawback though, was it was quite loud in the room we were in and I felt like it may have been more enjoyable to have friends over to our own house to play some games. At times, it was hard for us to hear each other talk. They have a small menu of coffees, sodas, paninis, and desserts. We did order the popcorn(free refills) for $ 4, which was tasty– buttery and salty. I think if they were able to obtain a liquor license it could draw more of a crowd and would be a bit better.

There is not much better you can ask for in a café than delicious drinks, food, a great atmosphere and a friendly and engaging staff. The Castle has all this but they have one step above competitors by having their huge variety of games. My tush has spent many hours at the Castle since their opening night and every single experience has been a fantastic one. The owners Kevin and Ryn are so down to earth and leaders to their awesome staff. I’ve come back to their lovely chai latte several times now and it is super creamy and delicious. If you feel like getting addicted to something try an order of their pretzel bites with their sweet dessert and honey mustard sauces and then be prepared to order about six more. If you and your group are bottomless pits like my friends and I then their refillable popcorn(which you can customize to the flavor of the day which in the past has been sweet sugary cinnamonny deliciousness popcorn and chipotle to name the two I know of) and soda will get you pretty far. But at some point you will look at the menu and see they provide paninis which you must have because like everything else on their menu it’s top notch. I’ve revisited my childhood at the Castle with a few rounds of jenga and hungry hungry hippos and have been introduced to new ultra complicated games which can be explained to you by the game master who roams around! There is always more fun to be had and more competitive banter passed around. I wish the Castle the best of luck as their business blooms and booms! I will surely be a regular around to see it.
