Great food is hard to come by in Big Bear, this place doesn’t disappoint! In my opinion one of your best choices in Big Bear! Very friendly staff!

Breakfast food was mediocre at best, service was marginal and the wait time for the food to actually arrive at the table was far too long(Sunday morning between 9a-10a). The only okay thing was the price, which was moderate, but still a tad much considering the fact the food was just«ok.» Will not be coming back.

Vacationing in Big Bear. Figured we’d hit up a local joint instead of the usual big chain restaurants. You can find some fabulous eats at some«mom and pop» restaurants. Unfortunately, at least on this day, this was not one of them. Took about 15 minutes to get seated. Was hoping that spoke to the demand for, and therefore the quality of, the food. I think it spoke more to the quality of the service and staff. Had a Rueben sandwich. It was ok. Denny’s quality at best. And for $ 11.99, without any side, was overpriced. My daughter and son had breakfast. Bacon wasn’t cooked well, nor were the pancakes. They were a little undercooked, somewhat doughy. Wouldn’t return.

Your average mom and pop diner, I got the make your own omelette and it was ok. The price was a bit high, I wish we had gone else where but everyone agreed to it and I was out of luck on the vote in Haha I go where my driver goes.

This place is so quite and has a lot of seating compared to most places around big bear. Everyone who works here is so personable and friendly. The breakfast is yummy and feels like your mother made it :) very nice place to try!

First time here with the fam, mid-day on a Monday when it’s slow. It’s an common clean-diner atmosphere. We got regular and blueberry pancakes(2 big pancakes for only $ 5, I posted a pic of my daughter’s blueberry pancakes, my husband’s veggie omelette, and my sand/soup combo. The bunny sandwich on squaw bread tasted fresh and wonderful, and the ‘half sand” size was more like a 6″ sub. The pancakes were hot, thick and amazing. The soup tasted homemade, with wild rice. My husband boasted that the omelette was great. The waitress was very sweet, and the manager very friendly. It’s always great to see genuinely friendly interaction between the staff. The coffee was pretty good, and the waitress kept it coming. Very reasonable prices. We’ll be back someday. :)

There was quite a bit of wait merely because I came here with a group of about 10. We arrived around 2pm for a late lunch. I like how they have a large variety of dishes. Most of it is diner style food. I ordered the Hot Turkey Sandwich, which reminded me of a Thanksgiving dinner. It consisted of a layer of bread on the bottom, a layer of turkey, topped with mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of what I believed was cranberry sauce. The portions were large and was very filling. However, it was a bit on the bland side. It needed a kick of some sort. The staff was super friendly and efficient. Overall, nice place to grab a bite.

This is a great little local joint. The menu offers original items and combos with choices of bread not found everywhere. I had a Snowforest sandwich which is pastrami and sausage on a squaw bread! Yes, squaw! I honestly cannot remember when was the last time I’ve seen that on a menu but it was perfect. My wife ordered a side of sweet potato fries and she swore they were the best she ever had. The only reason I didn’t give it the full 5 stars is because of awkward working hours(closes at 7pm on a Sat night during snow season) and there were some issues with not enough staff and long long wait for food to arrive but that is forgivable. A place that is too busy is not a bad thing at all because it usually indicates quality food and in that regard I give it 5 stars for the food. This place has enormous potential to become a truly outstanding local spot. Will gladly return again

Good service even they were super busy, but the food its not great. I could say if I cook at home… It will be better… :P Although their bread was the only thing that was great!:)

We were in big bear for the weekend and stopped by this place based on the reviews. The food is ok just basic diner food. We had the burger, fish and chips and the pastrami. Price is pretty reasonable

The food was very good. Nice selection of breakfast, cold and hot sandwiches, soups, and dinner plates. I ordered the steak dinner, and it had a lot of flavor for 11.99! My friend ordered the veggie sandwich, which the veggies were all fresh. We did not have to wait long for the food even on a busy day The waitress was very nice too.

Dropped by with my family for a light lunch but was not impressed with the quality of the food. Hot beef sandwich was smothered in stoggy, starchy gravy. Poorly presented. The meat was, however, very tasty and tender. Served with a very ordinary salad and bottled Italian dressing. Our 12-year old said the hot dog was good though. Doubt if we will come back…

My Co-worker and I were station in big bear for a week in the beginning of November and as usual we were looking for a place to eat for our lunch break. A quick search on Unilocal and we found a few that caught ur eyes. We decided to head to Mountain Munchies for lunch on our first day of work and we ended up going back every day for the duration of our stay there in that nice town. Here is why: 1 Friendly Staff 2 Fantastic Food and big portions. 3 Affordable especially for such big portion(very affordable, were on a strict budget as this is a business trip) Next time Im ever in the area… I know where I’ll be dinning in.

I love this place! The sandwiches are so delicious and the onion rings were tasty! I followed the other reviewers and got squaw bread and it was so good! Not only is the food good but the waitress(who’s been there for 11 years!) is awesome. Excellent service, personable, and very nice. I can’t wait to come back for more tasty food! Sandwiches are about $ 10 – 12 depending on what you order. But they’re huge! I took the other half home for lunch :)

Came here after some Big Bear activities. Our name was put down and was told 10 – 15 minutes. That was more like 30 – 35 minutes. We got seated and got our drink orders taken. Then our food order. Then the waiting game began. We didn’t get our food for another hour. This is no exaggeration. There was a table that came after us and they got up and left. It was taking that long. Once the food came, it was hot and fresh. But just the wait alone, we all inhaled the food and paid and left.

4th of July weekend, busiest of the year, and we’re trying to get some breakfast before we head back home. We call a bunch of places, over an hour wait, but Mountain Munchies says it will be 10 minutes, so we head on over. Walking in, we were totally surprised: it’s totally a hole in the wall kind of place, and the images of a grand breakfast dancing around my head was starting to fade, fast. All the food was ordered, and the nervous wait began. First out was the broccoli cheddar soup. I’m usually not a fan, but this was delicious! The onslaught of tantalizing platters continued. Massive blueberry pancakes, steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and my own plate, the beef dip. My sammy was on some of the floppiest bread I’ve ever seen, making it hard to eat, but folding it over like a taco really solved that problem. Next time I’m in Big Bear, I’ll try to go to one of the two major spots, if the wait is too long, I know I’ll find good eats here!

A very standard breakfast diner located in Big Bear! Came here after a long night, and we were immediately seated. We ordered the munchies, breakfast burrito, and eggs with a choice of meat and side. For the munchies, you choose either pancakes or waffles, how the eggs are cooked, and the type of meat. I got the blueberry pancakes with eggs over easy and sausages. The pancakes were thick and yummy, but I don’t like how the blueberries are frozen. The eggs and sausages were good though! Typical food, it would be hard to mess that up. The breakfast burrito was giant, and that was good as well. I would recommend that if you have a large appetite! The eggs were also standard breakfast fare. Overall, a good place to come out for breakfast food at a casual diner. The service was good in the beginning, but became worse and worse as it got busier. We ended up having to go up to the counter to pay because no one was around to help us out. Food is a little pricey for what you get, but still a good amount of food! We paid $ 16 including tip for eggs, sausage, and pancakes.

Had this place once and I surely enjoyed it from the kind and friendly service to the unholy amount of goodness in their chili cheese fries + The Snow Forest. Unfortunately, these dishes were the only ones I had, but still. Their chili cheese fries tasted delicious. There wasn’t too much chilli cheese going on, because some of us still like our fries without the chili and with enough crispy chilli-cheese free fries on the edges of the boat to end with. You know exactly what I’m talking about. Their Snowforest is a very modest name for this behemoth of a sandwich. I would call it «The Beast,» or «The SnowStorm.» Something ridiculous like that, packed with meat and veggies, ready to satisfy your hunger! Go there!
