i had the yellow curry with tofu… can’t complain. they didn’t fry the tofu as they said they would, and they didn’t include the extra rice. the orange chicken is TERRIBLE. the chicken is chewy, not really fried, and in some sort of heinous, i dunno what sauce. it is orange-colored, though. soups are also not good. just get some dominoes, you’re better off.

Service was good. Pad thai was too sweet for my taste. The wonton soup was very salty. We also ordered pad see ew & beef pepper which were also too salty.

Bad service took 2 hours to get our food. Don’t go here. Food was bad and some of my friends got sick.

Quiet and friendly place to have some delicious drunken noodles, chicken stir fry and combination chow mein. The drunken noodles didn’t not have alot of sauce, the chow mein was okay and the best plate was the chicken stir-fry of the three. It can be a 4 star if the food was a bit better. It is good without a doubt but because I’ve had 5 star Japanese-thai food I can’t give them the same rating! Either way, it was a good stop up in the cold weather where everyone is trying to make a stop and sell anything to hungry tourist! Enjoy

I come up to big bear often and never tried this place, so I decided to this time. It was horrible I will never go there again. It took an hour and a half to get my hot pot. And it’s not like it was a big party it was just two of us. I ordered sushi also, and after waiting two hours I said forget it. Service sucks. If you can wait hours before you get your food this is the place to go

Service is fast and amazing. When we arrived, the waitress greeted us and said pick wherever you like(to sit). We did and right after she asked for our drinks. I had hot chocolate which was perfect and has a whip cream and my mom finished that cream. Dad got water with no ice and my mom got Wine. After we finished eating, I was thirsty from all those skiing. Their own website here. We ordered Big Bear Rolls, Wanton Soup(not sure about this, papa’s order) and my Pad See Ew. Of course my order was a lot so we took the left overs. We’re practical like that. This is really close to Snow Summit, super convenient since my mom says she wants sushi and my dad loves noodle soups.

They serve everything Asian here, but it’s all very Americanized and mediocre at that. I couldn’t finish my portion of orange chicken, it was soggy and one-dimensional. We hit it at happy hour another day to try their sushi, some sushi rolls were 50% off. But nothing had much flavor. And both times our server would not come around, despite being the only diners. Décor is tired and dated, like a trip back in time to an old lady’s cottage in the 1970s. Highly disappointing. Skip it.

Not much to say. This place is not authentic Chinese, Thai or Japanese. If you are looking for a Asian fix, they can help out but don’t expect the best Chinese, Thai or sushi. It’s funny how I read other reviews about how they suck at this and that. What do you expect when this place serves chines Thai and sushi?

Everything was delicious. Only complaint: the table was too small to hold all of our delicious food! The curry was fabulous, as well as the orange chicken– it was so much more than just chicken in orange sauce.

Well… I rarely ever post or comment on food or a restaurant. But this place is a HUGE let down. Food was extremely salty. Chow Mein tasted like soy sauce, the fried rice look like crumbs and the orange Chicken was just gel and no orange.

Ordered the orange chicken, fried rice, and chow mein dish. The orange chicken just tasted like it was old chicken dipped in orange sauce. The noodles were VERY salty and the brown rice just had no flavor. Other than the cleanliness of the restaurant and politeness of the host I will not be returning back with my family any time soon.

First time(10÷12÷15) we give it a try Thai food up here… I ordered Spicy Noodles with pork which is they put name in menu Drunken noodles and made with flat noodles but they ran out of flat noodles and it’s okay for me to change to thin noodles(same size as noodles they used in Pad Thai) the portion huge!!! They gave me a lot of noodles but the taste not right! usually many Thai restaurant put Thai basil and I understand up here couldn’t find Thai basil but you can use Italian basil instead it’s fine I couldn’t feel basil in there, and pork it was tough like card board paper, back to my husband ordered spicy chicken and when food came out exactly like cashew nut chicken, watery, not spicy at all. I m sorry to give you only 2 star because I very well known taste of Thai food.

So delicious! I love this place. Great options for vegan and vegetarians. I had the vegetable hot and sour soup along with veggie sushi rolls. They were incredible! The service was great too! I strongly recommend coming here.

We went to Pong’s while we were here at big bear from Texas. The server was nice but that was all this place had going for them. We ordered a Philadelphia roll and a California roll. We have ate at lots of sushi places and thought it would be great to try since we were in California… they would have fresh fish right? Wrong. Sadly it was by far the worst sushi we have ever had! So disappointing. I would not recommend this place for sushi for sure, maybe there other food is ok but I won’t ever go back. PS: sushi was waaaayyyy over priced like $ 13 and no avocado in the philly roll

This is my third time here and its our favorite restaurant in big bear. I ordered the pad thai and my wife got sushi. Sake and Sapporo make it even that much better. Highly recommend this place

Of course, you don’t go to an Asian place in Big Bear Lake. But, my kids really wanted miso soup and California rolls and it was their vacation too. So we took a risk. As they say«sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you». Even tough the waitress was young and new, she did not know anything about the menu nor service. The food was not very good with the exception of my spicy chicken dish which was passable. They have no clue here! The miso soup, was not miso soup but won ton soup broth with a few pieces of tofu added. I hope the owner’s read the this review and really start taking the food seriously. I don’t mean to be so harsh on a small local business, but if I have to pay around $ 90 for a 4 person lunch, I would at least like it to be passable food. Otherwise, you guys are in the wrong business!!!

This has always been my favorite place to go for Asian food! My two favorites are the beef broccoli over noodles and the spicy chicken over noodles. That being said, no, it’s not quite the same with Pong gone. But her grandson, Oscar, has reopened the store with all of her classic recipes, and I’m back to being an eager regular! With the new ownership, their phone number has changed. It’s now(909) 866‑2999 and they still take phone takeout orders, so I urge everyone to come back and get all their favorites!

Pong’s has been hit and miss for years. Once a local’s favorite, Pong recently passed away and the future of the location is uncertain. The lunch specials have been a very good deal and are your best bet as an introduction. For other meals, the only ones we’d order were the Japanese Hot Pot, Phad Thai Noodles, and Vegetable Curry. Sushi has also been a popular choice but eveything else was disappointing. Unfortunately, service and food can be great or marginal. Consistency is needed. Pricing in the past has also been high. For instance, ordering 2 dishes, a non-alcoholic drink was as much as ordering a starter, 2 dishes, dessert, and non-alcoholic drink down the hill. Yes, resort prices apply but it was a bit much. We wish the family well… but again, consistency would go a long way to getting this business a higher rating.

Rarely does a multi-ethnic restaurant serve anything amazing from any of their respective cultures. There’s just too much variety and not enough experience. Being in Big Bear you wouldn’t expect great Asian cuisine anyway. Pong’s definitely surprised and surpassed my low expectations. Both the Chicken Pad Thai and Pa-nang curry were great Thai dishes. It’s very hard to make pa-nang right and whatever Pongs is doing, they’re doing it right. The Pad Thai was just as flavorful. The vegetable tofu soup contains Serrano peppers. So yes-it’s very spicy. The cucumber salad helps counteract the spiciness. Although not as amazing, the Japanese hot pot was also great. It’s a big bowl that will alone feed two. It’s also the perfect soup when it’s cold outside! The egg fried rice was a nice side dish. I recommend ordering it with something spicy or loaded with some other strong spices and eating it together. Also the service was just okay. A little slow and could have been a bit more prompt. Also, the portions are large so it’s not as expensive as you might initially think!
