River Road Consignment

Monica took furniture, paintings, mirrors, lamps lots of wonderful family items on consignment. This was in May of 2014. After continued phone calls she never provided me a listing and anticipated selling price of these items, also never paid us one dime for all the items we consigned to her.
Tried to have the city help me with my complaint, but they cannot intervene in this type of situation. Posted on her Facebook page, but still no response from her. She is not an honorable business person. My next project is to get a notice into the Grizzly to see if I can have any success in getting her to respond.
Just a warning for property owners like me, do not trust River Road Consignment or Monica with any of your valuable items.

I was here a couple of months back and I decided to take my husband today because I thought it was a cute shop and I liked the earrings they had to offer (bought some mugs and earrings the last time I went). I knock this down to a 1 start though because of the bad customer service. Around 2 in the afternoon my husband and I wander in. I wanted to go for the jewelery but it’s a small shop and other folks were there so we walked around upstairs for a bit to let them clear out. As soon as I start looking at the jewelery we’re told by the owner she needs to lock up to go help out her kids or something. Ok, that’s fair, but why didn’t she tell us that on the way in that we only had about 5 minutes. Furthering my frustration, we’d walked 1.5 miles just to go to this store during their «open» hours. Further still, once she told us she had to lock up, why didn’t she give us the 2 minute warning. It was more of a, get out. And further further still, she said «hey kids» I gotta close. Sure she’s older than us, but I must honestly say I haven’t been called a kid in a long long time, not something you really expect in your mid-​30s. And last but not least, since I was an interested buyer (I really do like the earrings), I asked about her Sunday hours. She told me, but this opening to offer us a couple of minutes fell on deaf ears and out we went. It’s a good thing we found some beer on the 1.5 mile walk home. So, I think I’d rather find earrings at a different consignment store in Big Bear or one of the shops in town. There are plenty of places to chose from with much better customer service.

Little consignment shop w/​some antiques, knick knacks, artwork, arts and crafts, and assorted other stuff. Walked in looking for kayak paddle and life jackets; nothing like that (at least this time), but cute shop.
