Wally is amazing. After getting me sorted with the toothpaste I forgot, he pointed me to some of the best backcountry trails in Big Sur.
He knows a TON about the area and loves to share his knowledge. CANNOT RECOMMEND HIM ENOUGH, especially if you are backpacking.

This shop is a gem. They have what I forgot, and directions about places and trails that are better than the guide books! I think they have walked all the trails and really know their way around a camp fire! Thanks for being there and being so helpful and sharing. I will be back for sure!

This note is just to second the comment on Wally, the store’s owner. He may as well be wearing a National Parks Service hat for all the local knowledge he has. He can even show you photos of the key markers near hiking destination.
If your ukelele needs fixing, apparently he knows a little about that too…

San Francisco, CA
A fairly tiny store on Highway 1 in Big Sur, it has tons of inventory, at very reasonable prices considering the location. The guy who runs the place gives great advice on hiking and backpacking in the area. If you’re doing anything outdoorsy around there, and need to pick up something you forgot, or get a nice map, this place will make your day.
