I know it may sound like a joke but, yes, the best poboy on the coast does come from a gas station. #LocalFavorite

For now, I’m giving it three stars. Remember that three stars means«A-OK», not«bad». People seem to forget that(and folks also waay overuse the 5-star rating). But I digress. This place reminds me of an old-school New Orleans deli(weren’t there more of them before the bitch rolled-in in ’05??). Gas station, ice cream counter, and deli. Don’t be scared, go in. We need more places like Fayards. I will be back, and try other items, but in the mean time: The soft shell crab po-boy was passable. Only one softshell(could have used two) for $ 12. The bread was NOT crusty Italiain. They paninni-press soft buns(which isn’t bad, but it’s NOTNOLA style po-boy. But hey, we’re not in NOLA). Their special sauce(like a remoulade) is AWESOME. Get it on your sammy. I will try other items next time. PROS: Breakfast biscuits(even honey chicken) and a breakfast special before 10:00am(eggs, grits, toast, a meat, coffee) for $ 5.49. Fried oysters and roast beef. The deli. Location. Nice seating area. Very nice, helpful staff. CONS: Well, not really a con, just a disclaimer: counter service only. I will say that I just wasn’t sure of the quality of the soft shell itself, or the provenance… It’s not the season, granted. And i have no problem with it being frozen at one time, which I hope it was. But it just wasn’t quite«right.»

The best po boy I’ve had in the area! It’s a really nice gas station which offers a variety of things like pickled quail eggs, pickles, okra, and green beans. They make homemade pies which is hard to get a hold of because they sell them pretty fast. Definitely a whole in the wall gem.

Their Roast beef po-boys(dressed and pressed) are unbelievable, plus great daily specials. Unique selection of local foods in the grocery portion. Friendly family-run business close to I-10. Don’t be intimidated that they sell gas, just be warned that the deli closes relatively early for dinner.
