Had a cup of excellent gumbo and the crayfish po’boy, the sandwich was good as was the service. The gumbo was rich with seafood(shrimp) flavor, some of the best gumbo ever!

I ordered a cup of gumbo and the crab burger. The gumbo didn’t have much flavor because the roux was very thin… almost watery. The crab burger was pretty good. I felt terrible for my dad because he also ordered the aforementioned gumbo and the seafood salad. The menu said the salad was tossed in an Italian vinaigrette. It was horrible because the ingredients were drenched in cheap, bottled Italian dressing and tasted like it had soaked in the dressing for days. This was very disappointing, and a waste of perfectly good shrimp and crab. If I owned this restaurant, I would have a tough time serving this salad to my customers. Just say no to bottled Italian!!!

I had an excellent Shrimp po-boy with fries and hubby had a cup of gumbo and a side of okra. He described the gumbo as «different» but very good. A previous customer commented on cleanliness, it could definitely use a good scrub down and our table hadn’t been wiped well. Our server mentioned she was by herself(not counting her preteen daughter ;)_) We dropped in during the rain delay of the Biloxi Shucker baseball game, having walked past the place many times since the Shucker’s new stadium opened. Which brings up a different thought, what restaurant less than a block from a brand new sports stadium in the middle of a downtown tourist area leaves a sign in the window(for over two months now) claiming«our credit card machine is out of order»? Either you take credit or you don’t, the sign needs to go.

Great feel as the business has been around for some time. Great seafood tried the gumbo which was very good. My wife had the crawfish po boy which was also tasty. I had the seafood platter and it was really good, more than enough food! Also, I was in a large group and the service was great. Recommend this place!

Ok locals and visitors here from around the world. Go here!!! It’s the real deal. Great food and service. Wholesome and soulful. The real flavors of the true American diner. Unequaled hospitality. I’m putting my reputation on the line folks!!! I had the roast beef po-boy. Side of fries covered with gravy cheese(real cheese) and smoked hickory(yes hickory smoked) bacon. My friend«a local New Orleanese» had the crawfish étouffée!!! She loved it. And my other friend had the seafood salad. Bring it!!! The hostess with the mostess INGAISFABULOUS. I will definitely go back. This place is a Biloxi original!!!

Terrible food. I had half and half oyster and shrimp po boy and a cup of gumbo. Oyster tasted like fried sand, shrimp tasted old and over cooked and the gumbo tasted like cheap gravy with rice and WAY over cooked meat(can’t even tell you what it was). Strongly recommend avoiding this place. Service was decent but food was the worst I had on the entire gulf coast.

I arrived in the area eight days ago, and this was the first place I was taken that had authentic Southern food on the menu.(Terrible, I know.) I did not want to be disappointed. I ordered the seafood gumbo and the crab meat and cheese po boy. The gumbo was good even though I favor gumbo with a richer, darker roux. It was more«brothy» than I like. The po boy was delicious, but had more bread crumb filler than meat. Hubby had the ½ oyster ½ shrimp po boy. He liked it, but said they were stingy with the fried oysters, a common complaint. The ambiance of the place was nice and reminded me of the classic diners with a counter and old black and white photographs. The service was excellent and our food came out quickly. I was not disappointed and left satisfied.

Every time we visit Biloxi(2 – 3 times a year) we make this our first stop. Love the crabmeat and cheese poboy with their schooner fries. The boyfriend is from Biloxi and it was always his favorite and still is. I highly recommend this place for anyone in Biloxi, looking for a nice place for lunch!

The Schooner had great food at good prices. The service was helpful, prompt and friendly. It lived up to its reputation d I’d definitely go back again. Thanks!

Great crab & cheese po boys and the hush puppies are great. This place has a nice atmosphere and the staff are nice. The next time I’m ever in Biloxi I will definitely have to come back to this place.

Crawfish étouffée was really good. Shrimp & crab salad was average. Cool place off the beaten path. Daily specials. Fast friendly service. Cool old pics.

Best fried shrimp and onion rings around. Worst crab sand which I ever had the displeasure of tasting. Good Gumbo

The quality of this restaurant has fallen in recent years. Do yourself a favor and find another non tourist spot! The gumbo and the oyster po boy were not as flavorful as they should have been…

What a disappointment! Went back in October and sorry to say it was not so great. Although my meal was comped, very nice of them, it still did not make up for the hushpuppies, burned on the outside and frozen inside and same with the shrimp! New cook? Too bad, very nice people!

I have been to this restaurant in the past(before 2010) and it was really good. In fact I was brought to the restaurant by a Biloxi native that said it was hands down the best place in town for a po-boy. I know this place is very special to Biloxi and that is why I am so sad to say: what was, is no more. The food was honest to goodness terrible. The hush puppies were decent, the shrimp and oyster po-boy wasn’t in any way special. Whatever changed please change it back! I remember the fries being very good. This time around they were mushy school cafeteria type fries. The place is also very pricey. For a po-boy, hush puppies, two sweet teas and a fried catfish basket it was over $ 30.

Disappointed. Gumbo had no flavor… none! Crawfish on po boy was sooooo tough. Oysters on po boy were full of shell pieces. It was inedible! There was zero flavor on the po boys too. Service was good. Décor is pretty cool. But the food…

I eat here everytime I am in town. The food is really good, even though I only get the gumbo and shrimp po-boy. I feel that the price on each item maybe a buck to much. I have no problem pay it as I enjoy eating here. If you like southern/cajun style cooking then you should like this place.

A place like«the Schooner» takes me back to an era that I never actually lived in. And yet, eating there evokes a nostalgia for a time long gone. The food is fair, though not particularly memorable. Po’boys, hamburgers, country fried steak and the like, but really one goes here for the novelty of eating in an old fashioned diner. All that’s missing really is a juke box. For me, the schooner is a place I take guests visiting from out of town, or a place to go to just to break the monotony of my usual rotation of chain restaurants. I might go here more often except it’s a cash only place, and I prefer to pay with my credit card.

Having been a longtime patron of the pre-Katrina Schooner(heck, even pre-Schooner, when it was Rossetti’s) … when we came back to the coast for Mardi Gras, we just had to give the new Schooner a try. Wish we didn’t. The gumbo was watery with no hint of Roux in sight. The shrimp po-boy was on a thin disgusting pistolette with no flake and a rubbery texture. The shrimp themselves were over cooked and had become hard and dry. The signature Schooner fries were cooked from frozen in oil that was too hot(overcooked outside, semifrozen inside). The shrimp spaghetti was passable. Barely. And only by comparison. Prices were high, and service was slow to nonexistent. If this is what we should expect from the new Schooner, then they should have never rebuilt, and just stayed a happy memory. Shame on the management. We don’t intend to be back.

I wanted to eat someplace other than a casino… so I checked out what was close and good(on Unilocal) and this was what I found. Service was fast, efficient, and friendly. I ordered the Fish Po’Boy with cheese and onion rings. Very tasty… and filling. So I took half of the sandwich to go. I liked that this place was actually in Biloxi — — it’s always nice to help out small businesses to get a feel for the real«local flavor». It’s not a fancy-schmancy type place or anything… but it was tasty, and worked for me. :)
