To step into this store is like stepping back in time 50 years. It’s an old fashioned chocolate and nut, yeah that’s right a nut store. A large selection of chocolates and nuts. I love the old cast iron nut roaster they still use to this day. If you ever find yourself on Court Street do yourself a big favor and drop into M&D-R Nuts to be taken back in time.

i like this place a lot. it’s kinda cramped inside, so i doubt they make all of the chocolates and stuff they have on display(the peanut delite is actually peanut butter snickers), but the people there are friendly and they have great nuts. i love their whole cashews, but recently i got some cashew pieces and they were great too. i bought the pieces instead of the whole ones because i wanted to use them for a brownie topping and the brownies came out great, some of the best i ever made. i took them to a superbowl party and someone who doesn’t like nuts on brownies tried them and liked them. i don’t get people who hate nuts on brownies(JASON). i mean i can understand if you’re allergic, of if you’re a kid who still has his baby teeth, but any able bodied adult should be able to appreciate the flavor and texture of nuts on brownies.

I’m 56 years old and some of my earliest memories were of walking Court street at night with my Dad shopping for Christmas gifts or what not and stopping by the wonderful little shop with a plethora of aromas to pickup some jumbo cashews for my Mom and the buttery macadamias that Dad loved so very much. I frequent the business less than I should simply because I don’t like what’s become of Downtown with all the hoodlums and scary folks around, especially at night. The mayor should require a couple officers walking the proverbial beat at all times of the day and night in my humble opinion. To not do so is the largest disservice the city can do for the businesses that survive there. By the way, I notice the store is under new management and has a friendly kind staff. They are also going to be converting to new cash registers and even their own website soon so stay tuned, the best is yet to come! Soon you’ll be able to get these great treats a lot more conveniently!

Great selection of nuts, chocolate and dried fruit-I love the variety and make sure to stop in whenever I am in Binghamton. Only down side is the guy behind the counter is incredibly unfriendly-he didn’t seem to want to be bothered when we had a large order. He acted like he had more important things to do! If you haven’t been make sure to stop in!

Amazing store! Has been there 76 years and still uses the antique roaster. Huge cashews. And delicious chocolates.

I walk back and fourth on Court street a lot during the work day, and on numerous occasions have been hypnotized by a delicious, warm, sweet, and incredibly enticing smell emanating from one of the store fronts that I pass. Each time I would pass I would try to figure out which it was. The not Subway, not the Chinese food, not the Indian food, not Old world Deli, but M & D-R Nuts. Freshly roasting assortments of nuts in the front window completely captures you, and one day I gave in, and had to see what was inside. Not only did it smell even better within the quaint shop, but the tall clerk noticed right away my excitement at the treats, and inquired, «What’s good to you today?» I had to tell him of passing and smelling the sweet treats which brought me in, and he smiled and let me look around. Before I went back out into the cold, he handed me a small baggie of roasted cashews so I would know what I liked when I came back. A very small space, warm and friendly, with free samples to those who want to know what tastes they adore. They even offer shipping. It’s nice to know places like this exist. I love these guys.

This store is wonderful. They roast all of their own nuts on site, in a tiny, narrow little store in downtown Binghamton. It is completely worth a stop! I buy gifts for everyone here, or treat myself to something yummy.

Yes! This place is a gem — and very few people know about it. I almost forgot it was there, but being Father’s Day and looking for a nut store, I realized that the one I was looking for was the one in Binghamton — right there in the back of my brain! This place has been open forever. Forever meaning over 70 years! That’s a whole lot. When Lassie came out, this shop was still old. It’s about 8-feet wide, so they probably saved in rent since the town went into depression 40 years ago. Who knows? The guy probably owns the building. They have all sorts of nuts and candy. Imagine that, a whole store devoted to nuts. A nut hugger’s dream. They cook their own nuts and they come out awesome. Dipped nuts, candied nuts, nuts in baskets and nuts in mugs. I wish I found it sooner. This place is a gem. MMmmm, I love nuts!
