Not a pub or a club. A bar. A phenomenal bar with some of the best wings in upstate New York. Seriously –the wings are on par with Anchor Bar(Buffalo) or Swallows(Syracuse). I no longer live in Binghamton but try to stop in whenever I’m in town!

Wings were on point. Just don’t expect them to come quick. I mean it is wing night so they’re obviously busy. Nice unassuming bar. Good service and good selection.

Had a long trip back to NJ from Buffalo, NY and didn’t have time to stop at my favorite Buffalo chicken wing institutions. Googled«best wings in Binghamton» as it was the half way point on my road trip… damn glad I did! Nips is a few minutes off of Rt. 17 but well worth the detour. Over(40) variety of wings to order from classic hot, parm garlic, bourbon and even a peanut butter«dessert» wing that includes fluff dipping sauce. Another(40) + sauces to try as well. If the wings are not enough the pizza and hand cut fries are made fresh each day. To wash it all down they have daily drink specials such as the $ 1.75 Genny’s the Saturday afternoon I was there. As «out of towners» we were not only impressed by Mike who owns the place and took the time to check in on our party but also the locals at the bar who said«pull up a bar stool… we don’t bite». So if you are ever on that long stretch of Rt. 17 or just a local then head over to Nips as its the real deal!

Uhhh duh, easily one of the best cheap wings in upstate new york. If you live in Binghamton or go there for school and haven’t had the wings at Nips… then all I gotta say is… wtf are you doing with your life? BBQ? HONEYMUSTARD? ATOMIC? NUCLEAR? I’ve had them all and they are all good. I usually order for pick-up. Price: 5⁄5 Location and people at bar: LMAO… weird is an understatement. WINGS: 5⁄5

i’ve been going to nips since the late 90’s. i’d go in there for food before i was even old enough to drive. as far as i’m concerned, there are many good places to go around here for wings, but nip’s is THE place to go. i have no idea how The Union won wingfest last year, did Nip’s even participate? i usually get their hot wings. the sauce isn’t very hot, but it’s a very flavorful buffalo sauce and they do offer other sauces that have more heat. i think i tried the suicidal once and they were pretty hard for me to eat, and i’ve also had the kamikaze which are spicy but not a typical buffalo sauce, they are also very good. the Country Sweet wings are amazing, it’s a very sweet sauce/glaze that comes from rochester with lots of pepper flakes in it. the sweet and tangy wings are another one of my go-to flavors, it’s actually cattleman’s gold, which is what most places around here use as their honey mustard sauce. and they have peanut butter wings too, served with a side of marshmallow fluff(at least they’re supposed to be, a few times they gave me bleu cheese). i haven’t had much of their other foods. i’ve had their chilli once, which they put out during the day for lunch, and i’ve had their sandwiches a couple times. the sandwiches are good but i wasn’t a fan of the fresh cut fries, few places ever get them right in my opinion. i believe i’ve also had motz sticks from them before and those were also good. as far as ambiance and service, they redid the inside a couple years ago and it’s much brighter in there now and it feels kinda weird to me. it cleaned the place up a bit but it just seems off to me. it’s kind of a mixed crowd there too, i’ll run into neighbors, construction workers, college kids, and people i used to go to high school with. that being said, that’s not really the crowd i like to hang out with, so i usually don’t drink there(even though their yuengling tastes better than any bar around here, i dunno how they do it) and i usually do takeout. as for service, they have some nice bar tenders but at times they can be inattentive. one bartender they used to have there would usually give my friends and i a lot of attitude when we went on wing night. being broke high school kids at the time we went to wing night for the deal, and then we get there and we are told we have to order drinks with our wings. i like water over soda, so i was pretty bummed i couldn’t get water. i ordered iced tea once. they keep their tea in a jar and i guess they didn’t clean the jar good enough because it tastes like pickles! i’ll conclude this review with my gripe about the wings. they have so many great flavors that i’d like to get a few different kinds but i don’t want a dozen of each. when i would eat there they would say that they don’t do half dozens on wing nights(although it depends on who you get, because one bartender let me do it a couple times). i feel like i’ve been there on non-wing nights and they also told me they didn’t do half dozens, but i could be mistaken. one time on the phone i tried to order a dozen and a half to go and they said they only do it if it’s the same flavor because they don’t want to use a whole separate container for only 6 wings. to me that seems pretty lame. they could easily charge an extra 50 cents to order a half dozen and that will cover the cost of the container. when i get my wings to go i order them extra crispy, i don’t have to do that when i get them at the bar for some reason. sometimes they do it and they are amazing but other times they don’t cook them as crisp as i’d like. so overall, this place has great wings, but make sure you know how to order them. and depending on your crowd this is can be a good place to drink with good prices oh yeah, one thing i should mention, come here prepared! they don’t take cards at the bar but they do have an ATM, this place is cash only!

This review pertains ONLY to Nip’s bar food… If you are a fanatic for chicken wings, this is THE place to chow down. They have upwards of twenty varieties and the cooks know the difference between done, crispy and extra-crispy. They tend to be quite frugal when it comes to the celery that comes with the wings, however. If you’re not a fan of bleu cheese, they’ll let you substitute ranch dressing, if that’s your thing. The weekly specials(of which there are three choices) are economically a very good deal. Every special comes with your choice of one of the following: macaroni salad, potato salad, cole slaw, or fresh-cut fries. Some of the cooks do not seem to know how to get the fresh-cut fries crisp though. Sometimes they come out of the kitchen limp, soggy, and drenched in cooking oil. Other times, they are delightfully cooked and tasty. One of Nip’s biggest drawbacks is what I believe to be sub-par rolls for their burgers and sandwiches. I have never once had a sandwich roll that did not begin to fall apart and crumble to pieces after your first or second bite. The exterior of the rolls is not at all what is needed for good bar food. Many of the meats used in the sandwiches are highly processed lunch meats. But, for $ 5.00…

If you like wings, cheap beers, and awesome dive bars… this is definitely a place you have to check out. There isn’t a lot of room for huge crowds it will fill up on cheap wing nights(which used to be Sunday and Wednesday night… I haven’t been there in a long time). They have a ton of wing flavors and every one I tried was good. Their draft beer is very reasonable priced, but they don’t have a huge selection. They always had the same 2 or 3 bar tenders, so if you go on a somewhat regular basis they get to know you pretty quickly. If you go on an off night, you’re likely to see somewhere between 3 and 10 other people in there… almost guaranteed to be locals. I don’t recall ever seeing or feeling any real sketchiness in there(ie — no menacing looks, no fights, no crack heads). So, even though the bar may look a little seedy, you’re pretty much assured a good time. They also have karaōke nights and the occasional venison roast/buffet. I have to note: For a period of time, their sign out front read«Your wife called, she said to stop in.» I always got a kick out of that.
