I love this place. I have been coming here since 1993 and it never gets old. The food is so delicious and I love the old time décor. Really the food is the reason to come. You won’t be disappointed if you chose this place. Good homemade food — you can’t go wrong. It has remained great through the years.

I ordered take out from this establishment last week. My first reaction was«What the heck is this?» when I opened it. I was looking for a burrito with rice. It was more an open faced burrito buried by salad, with rice on the side. After I got over the shock of the presentation, and soothed myself that I actually received what I ordered, and ate it, it was very good :) It was ready on time, and the counter staff was friendly.

I would have never said OMG after the first time I ate at Whole in the Wall about 27 years ago, because people spoke and wrote in complete words back then, but Oh My Golly, all of their vegan food is fantastic. The falafel is big and fresh and fabulous; the black bean soup a complete treat; there is a roll they make, and with vegan butter and a little heat I regret every bite only because it means the experience is closer to over(oh, but the memories remain). Tempeh stir fry? Thank you, ma’am! Words exist, but cannot be properly ordered to express the joyous lingual crossing of the peanut butter chocolate chip pie, which this bud will taste in a hallucinatory fervor each and every time. Also, the Alternative Baking Company cookies which I love ‘out-of-package’ are heated and plated for a cookielicious accompaniment to post-meal coffee. And their own brand of pesto, including the non-dairy spinach, which I’ve been eating with pasta(must finish review to do so again), is a gift. This is a business that deserves all of your support!

Loved it! I ordered the Mushroom Soup and an order of Tahini Sauce, which was served with slices of carrots and celery because I follow a gluten free meal plan. Customer Service is on point, the people at this restaurant are friendly — I appreciated that so much. I would return to try other menu options. Side Note: Notice the Thursday-Saturday 11AM-9PM, Restaurant Schedule. If you call ahead I’m sure they would be able to answer special meal plan related questions, such as gluten free/vegetarian options 607.722.5138. 2nd Side Note: Go the speed limit Ladies and Gentleman, unfortunately I was upstate for a speeding ticket.

Manager when asked said that nothing was truly vegan anymore. Said he uses butter and other animal ingredients. Absolutely disrespectful. What an ass, please for the name of all that’s good don’t give this fraud your patronage. Extremely disappointed.

I love this restaurant. It is everything that a healthy restaurant should be. The food is delicious– we had the seafood platter and stir fry with tofu entrees and wine. The big tease sundae really topped the meal-a raspberry and homemade brownie sundae with fresh whipped cream. The ingredients are fresh and the preparation very solid. The décor is a bit of a throw back but when you sit down, you feel like you are eating in someone’s home. The meal was very reasonably priced, much better than other restaurants in the neighborhood.

I wanted to like this place. Cute décor, friendly people and interesting menu… it took 30 minutes for my stir fry and my wife’s whole enchilada to arrive. Stir fry was way overcooked, veggies were mush. The tortilla under the enchilada was burnt, along with the rice. There was absolutely no hint of Mexican flavor or spices. We had high hopes…

What a great place for married couple’s date night! Quiet, cozy, artistic and wonderful food. We had(among other things) delicious falafel, sweet wild salmon and fresh made desserts! Highly recommend and we will return.

Comfy little restaurant. Had the cheese pita pocket with minestrone soup lunch special, both delicious and satisfying. Good prices and very nice staff. Worth the trip because the flavors are on point. Vegetarian options.

Cold and wet and hungry we stumbled into the Whole in the wall. One vegetarian and one vegan. The menu looked promising, but initially I had some reservations about the restaurants definition of vegan. They list the ingredients of the bread as containing honey, but still apply a vegan label to it. The place itself was cute. So, with no more adieu… The Pros: * Honestly. This is Binghamton. Where the crap else are you going to get vegan food? * It’s a cute place. Beautiful old architecture. They reclaimed salvage materials from other old buildings in the restoration of this one. * There’s a convenient parking lot out back. The Cons: * SLOW service. There was a sign to wait to be seated. We were ignored at it for at least 5 minutes, by what seemed to be the only server on at that moment.(Who was doing prep, cash. serving, etc. Running the whole front of the house.) Taking our orders was slow. We had to ask for menus. Getting food was slow. Getting check was slow. Them picking UP the check with the card on it was at least 10 minutes. * Small portions. I mean S. M. All. For $ 13 I would expect to get more than two small corn tortilla’s filled with bean paste and topped with melted cheese and what appeared to be a side salad. No, literally. A salad. With no dressing. On top of the enchilada. Lettuce. Chunks of cucumber, and small tomatoes. Nothing else. * They didn’t have the chili that day. * The iced tea was lipton. Just… Meh. * The food was mostly flavorless. My companion had a veggie tofu stirfry. The veggies looked soggy and the flavor was mostly just bland. My Whole Enchilada was just ok. There was a little bit of spice to it, but only in pockets… Not all the way through. It tasted mostly like store bought refried beans. If this store were in a more veggie friendly spot than Binghamton, I’d likely give it fewer stars. But, as it is… They have something of a niche market here. I’ve definitely had better. But I’ve not had better in Binghamton.

We wanted a healthy option while spending a weekend in Binghamton. I found this place through Unilocal entering«healthy food» in the search bar. The atmosphere is cool. Apparently, this place has been a stop for many types of bands over the years, as they’ve got autographed menus and such on a wall board. Service seemed sluggish. The food was decent but overpriced. I ordered«The Whole Enchilada» which was vegetarian, and expected to get a much larger portion than what was served to me. Maybe it’s the cost of fresh, local ingredients, but if I get vegetarian stuff, there’s no way, in my opinion, that beans should cost more than meat. Atmosphere is cool. I dig old buildings, in general. One of my kids got the chicken nuggets, and that’s all she got. But they were big and looked freshly prepared. They were more like big chicken pieces, breaded and fried. Roll the dice. I’m sure there are better options than what I had.

Nah, just don’t do it. I was excited about Whole in the Wall when it was recommended to me by a BU grad, but… no. Don’t do it. Organic, fresh, healthy food should be super delicious, but it isn’t at Whole in the Wall. The food is tasteless and it takes forever to get the food. Not only that, but the food is vastly overpriced. The only good thing I can truthfully say about Whole in the Wall is that its sign is cool and I like the Christmas lights surrounding the building. That’s it. There are plenty of amazing restaurants in Binghamton, so don’t settle for Whole in the Wall.

One of the best in Binghamton, NY. My best friend and I came here after it was recommended to us from a local couple living here. Let me tell you, the food was phenemonal. We had the creamy mushroom and gazpacho soup, and their infamous homemade pesto sauce with pasta. Place is small, cozy, and CLEAN. Will come back! Definitely worth the 3 hour drive. Gave it a 4⁄5 because we left with our clothes smelling like grease, they need a better ventilated system.

Returned for dinner with a friend and had another great experience. We split the split-pea soup(ha), garlic ball, burger special(organic, local burger with fries) and big tease sundae. The soup was so flavorful and had great texture thanks to the fresh carrots. The garlic ball was as good as they say and the burger was top-notch — amazing fries, too. The sundae, well, you’ll have to see for yourself. ;-)

Very cute place with tons of small town feel to it. I liked how fresh everything was, and how friendly our servers were. Def had a crunchy granola hippie vibe going for it — which I can respect. The food was 4 stars. Very flavorful, fresh, delicious, healthy and good vegan options. The wait time was 2 stars. Simple things should not take this long. The price was 2 stars. I liked their smaller portions, but just felt a bit ripped off for what I got. I’d come back, I liked it and it was the best I had in Binghamton.
