Very packed when I went in with a couple friends around 8pm on a Saturday evening. We sat ourselves, but it took a good few minutes for anyone to come to us. It was obvious that they get a lot of regulars as the main portion of attention by the workers was being paid to them. This was happening throughout our entire stay, as I could overhear many of the interactions. Just an overall unwelcoming vibe. Service lacked badly and we must have had 4 different waitress for some reason. Not the friendliest ones either. Maybe it was a weird off night. The décor was pretty cool as was the menu variety. Had an «up north» kinda feel to it with the wild game sections of the menu. I had crab stuffed mushrooms as an app, but they were really rather flavorless. The ribs were only $ 15 for a full slab and they were nice and tender, but I was not all that into their BBQ sauce.

Just wonderful food! Everything is homemade and you can’t go wrong with that. If you’re traveling and tired of chain restaurants this place is far from it. I recommend you try their fried pickles as well as their mushroom and Swiss burger. Nothing to disappoint! This is one great place to add to your list of stops for the Birch Run/Frankenmuth area.

Had a great meal. All fresh and homemade. Fresh cut fries. Hand battered chicken. I had perch plate and will order it again

Now on the positives, it is a divey kind of place. I had the snapper New Orleans and hubby had the walleye New Orleans and both were surprisingly delicious!!! I would definitely recommend these two dishes, but honestly they aren’t inexpensive, the walleye was $ 18 and change and my snapper New Orleans was $ 23(ouch) bottle of beer is $ 4

This place is awful… home cooked my a$$. My mom makes better HOMECOOKED meals than this at her home. Don’t get the Bacon Cheddar Burger… in America it’s not entirely necessary to ask for all the fixings on your burger, because most restaurants know how essential they are, but here all you get is a dry burger with thin burnt cheese and some rubberized bacon. The only thing that was good were the authentic, home cooked French fries. The service was quite a lively bunch… not so much. Could have been a little more inviting.

I wanted to go there for my birthday dinner after passing it several times. What a mistake. My ice tea tasted horrible but it took a half hour just to get it so I suffered. I used the rest room and the water coming out of the faucet smelled horrible, I figured they made the ice tea from the same water. My food was dry and not edible. Horrible meal. There were us a family of four and another couple there and it took us almost two hours to eat because they were so slow and the waitress was unapproachable. We almost walked out. Nobody had a good dinner in my party.

This place is Birch Run’s best kept secret! I am extremely impressed with the food quality and portions, menu, and service. I had the Louisiana/Seafood platter and this was the best dinner I’ve had in a very long time. Period. This is a place that truly puts love in their cooking! I only wish I would have learned of them years ago as they have been in business for almost 30 years. Very impressive considering they have some tough competition nearby. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their menu – what a phenomenal selection of dishes they offer. My wife had the steak sub and barely ate a quarter of it, and said it was great. My daughter had the BLT and really enjoyed it. The fries are homemade and very good.

when i think of paying 20 – 28 dollars per plate at a restaurant, a double wide trailer at the 75 exit in birch run isn’t my first thought. recently stumbled into oscar and joey’s roadhouse for a pretty unstellar dinner. the salad with the dinner was full of water. the calamari appetizer came out 3 minutes after we ordered it(did you cook it?). the rolls would be great for shooting out a nerf gun. the meals themselves were supar, not horrible. i had a 12 dollar turkey dinner you could get at any diner for 7 bucks. what made me gasp was some of the meals were priced above 25 dollars a plate. not appropriate for a restaurant where the waitresses wear dirty tshirts. the whole vibe of the restaurant is weird too. love, juston

This place was weird from the moment we walked in there. The first waitress that approached us, I asked if they had any drink specials. She paused, stared at me, and growled no… just drinks. Hmm, well OK then. Got me a random beer and perused the menu. There was some wild game choices as well as fish, burgers, etc. But what they were charging for some of these meals were ridiculous! It’s a dive bar not the Ritz. I ended up getting the Chef Salad. A different waitress brought out the infamous bread basket. Yuck! Hard as a rock hockey pucks. My friend poked her thumb through each of them with quite some effort. Stale, re-heated, and some were burnt. Pass on that. My salad was good but my bf’s burger was not. He said it was tasteless and the bun was gross. My friend got the endless fish, cod I think, she liked her meal and my other friend got the turkey dinner, no terrible complaints out of him either. The waitresses kind of ruined the experience for us, they were expressionless, dumpy, and had barely any interaction with us at all. I will most likely never come back here.

We waited over an hour for cold food. Our drinks ran out and the waitress never refilled. I asked for a refill for my daughters drink twice. Food was mediocre. Waitress was horrible. She was slow, no expression and very impolite.

Stopped by for lunch after a quick hit and run at Birch Run. The mushroom swiss burger and perch dinner were both tasty and a good value. Good service, definitely a return trip next time we’re in the area.

Oscar and Joey’s is the new(ish) name for Dixie Daves. So if you’ve eaten there then you are familiar with the food. It’s the same owners. It looks like a small town dive bar but looks are deceiving. Birch Run is a small town so you would never know that there is a treasure like this hidden inside. Sure, there are typical bar foods, but Dave loves his wild game and his food shows it with gator, elk, and more. Not everything is fried like other Unilocalers stated. Their are plenty of grilled and baked items. If you don’t see it, ask. They are very accommodating.

People on Unilocal and locally raved about this place, but I did not agree. FOOD: The food tasted good and was creative, but the cost(specials in the $ 15 – 20 range) were not worth the price. SERVICE: The staff was average and seemed okay. ESTABLISHMENT: Yes, the outside looks likes a dive, but we looked beyond that and were really hoping for a great find. It was okay, and seems like it belonged in a more rural area. CLEANLINESS: All and all it was average for cleanliness, with one notable exception: the wicker basket used to serve our rolls clearly had a rim of dirt around the top of it from repeated handling by wait staff and patrons alike over time. This was disgusting and I spotted baskets on other tables that were just as dirty. If we had to choose a place in the area again, we would look elsewhere.

I feel a need to save fellow Unilocalers from this place. While there’s rarely good food in rural areas, this is a place that will surely clog arteries, cause digestive issues, and maybe catch a bacterial infection. First of all, there are flies that land on your food nonstop. I asked for lemons for my water and the very nice server hands me two wet slices from her hand. She also has food stains all over her clothing, making me feel even more queasy as her nails dig into my lemon slices. We had the sausage and pâté appetizer, these guys don’t know what pâté is – trust me on this one. It was tough and gamey. Completely missing the actual flavor and texture of what pâté is. I also had the dill cod, I asked the server if it had a heavy sauce, and she assured me it was light and good. It was a heavy cream and butter sauce drenched in low quality oils. Lastly, the bread basket had dirty stains and crumbs encrusting the edge, it had clearly never been washed. Do yourself a favor and stick with chain restaurants when by birch run outlets, at least it’s a little cleaner.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn for a full week, for a family reunion. On our last night we wanted something close to the hotel. So we chose this place. What a find!!! Very quaint, friendly and inviting. Food, huge selection!!! My husband had a fish selection which was wonderful. I had a hamburger with the works. A+! Then there are the drinks. Shockingly low priced!!! You can NOT go wrong with having a meal here!

While traveling I love using Unilocal to find different places to try. And as usual, Unilocal pointed me to this lil treasure! The outside looks a lil deceiving, but the menu is home style cooking mixed with one of the largest selections of wild game appetizers, soups & entrees. For those not interested in wild game, no worries. They have burgers, steaks, smothered Turkey, etc. I had a bowl of homemade French Onion soup that was truly amazing. Sweet and salt with gobs of melty cheese. For dinner I ordered the Smothered Turkey. Insanely delicious! Think, Thanksgiving leftovers smothered in a creamy sauce, topped with cheese and toasted breadcrumbs served over egg noodles. With every bite, there’s no mistake, this is all homemade. Just when I thought I had had the most delicious meal ever, the waitress suggested a slice of Grandma’s Cheesecake topped with cherries and homemade whip topping! Holy, let me say I love cheesecake. Let me also say, I would consider myself slightly an aficionado of Cheesecake. Grandma’s cheesecake was dense, rich, and absolutely heavenly. So Heavenly, I immediately wanted to buy a whole cheesecake. And price didn’t matter.(That good). Sadly, a cheesecake of that caliber is special order only, and needs a weeks notice for Grandma to whip it up. I settled on my slice and thanked the staff for the amazing hospitality and dangerously delicious meal.

Please pay no attention to Sharon L’s review… she gives all of the businesses she has reviewed poor ratings. Oscar & Joey’s Roadhouse is great! Our service was very friendly, food was delicious, and prices were very reasonable. My husband, friend, and I stopped here on our way home from up north. We started off with kangaroo meatballs and my husband had elk soup. All three of us had the buffalo burger. The meatballs were moist, tender, and coated in a flavorful BBQ sauce. I’m usually not one to eat exotic foods but thought these were great. My husband really liked his elk soup. Our burgers were great – cooked to a perfect medium, moist, flavorful, and HUGE. You only get the delicious bread and maple butter with entrees, but our server brought us a sample when we asked about it. That maple butter is better than any cinnamon butter I’ve ever had. There are many things on the menu we can’t wait to try when we return. They are very close to I-75, making it a convenient and delicious pit-stop as you’re traveling.
