This was my first time getting anything altered and the reviews except for one sounded great. By I’m disappointed… I paid $ 25 for my prom dress to be hemmed, it’s a jersey material which I assumed would be a pretty simple material to work with compared to tulle, but she said it was difficult so I complied. She wasn’t able to elongate the leg slit in my dress which she originally was going to do along with the hem for $ 40; I would assume it would be more difficult to do the slit than the hem but again, I complied. She ended up saying she wouldn’t be able to elongate the slit for fear it would ruin the dress, so I just got the hemming done. I feel as though she rushed through the dress(granted– I needed it the next day) but she finished it within an hour even though it was a «difficult» material to work with. When I questioned some hemming errors, she said it was because it was difficult and that I needed it quickly. I disagree with this defense because, as a professional, I expect her to spend the time to ensure there are no errors in her work and if there is, to compensate for it. I reluctantly handed her my card and paid the $ 25 in the end however, but I would question whether or not I would comeback. Overall, the dress looked okay– maybe over hemmed for what I wanted but I would be wary with pricing. ***update: my mom was able to do the leg slit(BYHAND!!) and it looks better than the hemming that was done with a sewing machine; also my heels kept getting caught on the loops on the two sides of the slit at the bottom because they were not sewed shut at the hem

PLEASE don’t trust these reviews. I brought a mother of the bride dress to be shortened. Not only had some of the stitches pulled, but the hem was not even — and not just by a little. They had to shorten from the waist, but still… When I went to pick it up she wanted to charge me $ 10 more! I was in a hurry and didn’t try it on till I got home. I had to spend 4 times as much to have the mess she created repaired. I’d asked her four times if she was comfortable working with the material and the work to be done — offered to pay for her time if it was too hard. This place might be ok for everyday, but do NOT bring expensive or tricky items here! I will NEVER go back.

I can’t recall the seamstresses name right off but man, is she wonderful! I had my wedding dress alterations done at AA for my wedding last fall, and it turned out AMAZING. It was no small feat either, since the dress had cascading tulle at the bottom, but it looked flawless. She also took the dress in to fit my body perfectly and attached a beautiful sash around the waist. On top of that, she is the sweetest lady! Very fair price as well.

This place is PHENOMENAL! If I could give 6 stars, I would. I’ve been to many, many tailors and seamstresses in my life and this is, by far, the best work, the fastest turnaround, the most reliable, and she is just a total sweetheart. My first time using this place was for my wedding gown(I know – super nervy of me!). I have never had a strapless dress fit so well in my life. I’m very slim but big on top(and the twins are real, so they’re HEAVY(thanks mom!) and gravity has started to take it’s toll), so strapless dresses were always something I loved to buy but could never pull off without spending the evening in a straight jacket of a strapless bra that usually cost more than the dress I was wearing over it, or yanking the darn dress up every 5 minutes(not a sexy look). Not only could I jump up and down in my strapless wedding gown without it budging once she altered it for me, but she made it fit better than I ever thought possible. And it wasn’t easy-she had to take the entire dress apart and then put it back together with the overlay draping looking identical to the way I bought it to take it in for me. It’s so comfortable! A strapless dress that is comfortable? I would have called myself a liar before meeting this woman! I now buy whatever strapless dress I want and she makes them all fit perfectly! I just got back from dropping off several more clothing items for her to alter. She’s so accommodating! She can get me in usually that same day, and she offered to have 4 dresses(2 strapless, of course!) and a top, for $ 65 total, ready for pick up in FOURDAYS – In the middle of wedding season! I’m starting to think she might be magical… She’s so super sweet and tactfully honest. The place is tucked away downstairs in a building, so keep your eye out as you get closer. The store itself isn’t anything to write home about, but please PLEASE don’t judge this book by its’ cover: this is a hidden gem! I’ve already sent several friends to her and they’ve all been thrilled and impressed. My mom(the ULTIMATE judge and hard core critic) is next. I can’t wait for her to be blown away too. Stay tuned!

I was a maid of honor recently and had a lot of adjustments to make on my dress since I had lost almost 20 lbs between getting the dress and the wedding. The woman who runs the show was fabulous. She was so gentle and kind, asking me what I wanted and giving great suggestions. I actually had to go back because I lost more weight and she quickly fixed it. Prices are great, I paid $ 45 the fist time and just $ 5 the second even though she did a ton of stuff. I will be back!

I highly recommend this place. I took a dress into this shop to be lengthened and she did a great job. I brought in my own fabric(which I purchased at Haberman’s Fabric in Royal Oak), and she did a great job adding the material and even suggested placing a small amount of the fabric around the bust area so that it looked like the extra fabric at the end of the dress originally came that way. The outfit flowed better. When I went to go pick up the dress, I also brought in a pair of pants to be lengthened and she offered to do them for free since she thought she may have over priced the dress job.(I did not ask for a reduction in price she offered which I thought was very generous). I will definitely be back to this Tailor. The only issue is finding the location. Her shop is on the basement level of a building on 14 Mile. However, once you locate it, it’s no big deal.

Prices are so reasonable especially for the quality of work done. I had my wedding gown altered, and she did a fantastic job. She had it ready in two weeks too, and didn’t charge extra or anything for the rushed order. She is very friendly and nice to work with :) highly recommend!
