I don’t like this place a whole lot but there prices are worth the hassle. Atmosphere– Very cramped sports store. It is difficult to get around the middle clothing section. Staff– Annoyed that you exist. Slow moving. Couldn’t care less. Over all– This place has the best prices. Know what you want because it’s hard to get help. Check and make sure the packaging of whatever you are buying is sealed. I avoid this place but if you need equipment for a sport other then football or baseball you have to go here.

I went in this morning looking for cold weather running pants. The store had just opened and I was there for 15 minutes, looking around the women’s performance clothing section obviously not finding what I needed while being ignored by no fewer than 10 employees. The music was blaring so loud I had a hard time thinking. No one said good morning, no one asked if I needed help. It was just a disappointing visit all-around, and I left without purchasing anything. Dick’s is just right down the road, so I’ll go there tomorrow.

Sports and outdoors doesn’t totally describe Academy. They should probably call it Academy sports, clothes, electronics, safes, paintball stuff, shoes, outdoors, etc… The prices are what keeps me coming to Academy over the other big box stores. They always seem to be a bit less expensive, while the quality seems to be the same. On this trip, I stopped by for new golf shoes. They actually had a clearance section that had nice golf shoes for as low as $ 25! Sadly, none of these were in my size. No worries… I got an awesome pair of Footjoys for $ 49. Not too shabby. While there seemed to be lots of employees working, there was only one lane open and lots of customers trying to check out. Not the first time I’ve seen this here. Either way, no biggie.

Pretty friendly employees that will try to get you what you need whether it be a golf club, fishing pole, work shoes, or grilling supplies. They price match, you can get in and out of here pretty quickly, Of course, they do not have the specialists that a specialty store would have(Trak Shak for shoes, Mark’s Outdoors for hunting, ect…) but they have a wide selection of a great variety of sporting/outdoor supplies, and they have a fair amount of specialty supplies.
