Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex

I have spent more hours at the BJCC than some of their staff. I worked numerous, long events and have attended concerts for years. I am out of that line of work now and my trips to the facility have been cut down. I have had the privilege of working with some of the staff that most people haven’t. And I will tell you, they are as top notch as they come. They work hard and work well.
But this review is for the facility itself at a patron. And to be perfectly honest, it needs a facelift and upgrade that are far beyond whatever budget they could throw at it. They do a great job of keeping it clean and fixed. I have never experienced a broken seat or puddle of mess that has been there for years. But the décor and overall base product cannot improve by daily maintenance. They did finally replace the very outdated scoreboard and have changed some of the signage. But you still get that very 1970s-​80s feel when you walk in. The concessions are mediocre and unimaginative.
This is not my political rant that we need a new facility in Birmingham. But for the way that Birmingham is on the cutting edge of becoming a great city again, a new facility to bring people in is going to be a must.

Clean, well maintained venue for its age. Parking was not too bad but seemed far from actual arena.
Good place for gymnastics meet, not a bad seat in the house.
Didn’t eat but everything else was sufficient
